A lot had happened in my life for the past week, and as much as I didn't want to ponder on them, they filled my thoughts.
Despite all I'd been through, I still had school to attend and the Ascension trials to prepare for.
Clothed in my black bodysuit, I made it to the training arena with Mira by my side. The arena was cramped with people, and the skies were clearer out here. I scanned around, searching for the Asshole brothers, but there was no sign of them.
For some reason, my heart felt vacant. I was starting to get used to their constant bullying that I felt weird when they weren't there.
What a weird way to process abuse.
"Today's training is an obstacle course, and everyone's going to participate," the coach announced as he paced back and forth. "Divide yourselves into groups of six. I don't have to do everything for you."
"We'll be in the same group," Mira chimed as she hooked her arm around mine. Obviously, we would… we were best friends.
