Chapter 16 - The Mark

The more I looked at the mark, the darker, and clearer it became, bleeding into my skin like poison. A strange feeling of unease and confusion surged through me.

Where had this mark come from? What did it even mean?

I wiped at it, trying to see if it would come off, but that didn't work.

"Cut out with the theatrics," Rhydian's voice cut through the silence in my mind, reminding me of his presence.

I scowled. "If you think I'm pretending, then tell me… because I need answers too."

The door suddenly opened and Kayden and Tavian walked in. Their eyes met mine and a chill ran down my spine. Someone would think they were coming to check on me because they cared, but I knew better.

"Gee, guys… You don't have to check on me. I'm pretty fine," I bit out sarcastically.

"Don't flatter yourself," Tavian responded flatly, his tone bored.
