Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Contain It

Time passed neither fast nor slow, simply slipping unnoticed through one's fingers.

Gerry held a slip of paper, then tied the note to an insect, controlling it to fly towards Luthor Manor.

After he finished, a smile appeared on Gerry's greasy, pale face. He closed his eyes contentedly.

This feeling of using his brain was simply amazing; he considered himself the smartest person in his small town.

Once he ate Jino and Clark's flesh and blood and absorbed their genes, he would become even stronger.

As he thought, insects subtly wriggled beneath Gerry's skin.

Thump!

The spider silk laid out beyond the steel factory was disturbed. Gerry's eyes snapped open, a sneer twisting his lips. "They're here."

Though he didn't understand why Jino had arrived so quickly, Gerry was already growing impatient.

CRASH!

Dropping from a height like an insect, Gerry's feet landed heavily on the steel plate on the ground, creating a dull thud.

Gerry crouched low, like an agile dung beetle hiding behind a thick steel pipe.

This position allowed him to monitor the entire factory and was a blind spot near the entrance, perfect for ambush.

"Ugh."

Clark, hanging in mid-air, his cheeks green, opened his mouth to shout a warning to Jino, but he was weak and in pain. Clark couldn't make a sound. He could only watch helplessly as Gerry's arms transformed into sharp, predatory blades.

Clark's large eyes were filled with helplessness; he couldn't let his friend die because of him!

The surrounding environment was quiet. Besides Clark's painful groans and the buzzing sound of the wind blowing through the spiderwebs, there was only the slow, heavy sound of footsteps "thump-thump" approaching.

Gerry's breathing grew heavier, his hands gripping the Kryptonite tightly. He was ready.

The moment Jino showed himself, he would pounce and press the Kryptonite onto Jino's body. Then, that guy would instantly weaken and collapse, just like Clark.

"Thump-thump."

The footsteps drew closer, the owner of the sound seemingly anxious.

Closer, even closer!

Just as Gerry tensed, ready to strike like a praying mantis, the footsteps suddenly stopped.

"What's going on?"

Gerry frowned, but before he could react, the next second, an iron can flew from a distance, transforming into a whistling blur due to its terrifying speed, hurtling towards Gerry's face.

BANG!

Gerry was hit before he could even react.

The heavy iron can striking his face made Gerry's head spin. A tooth shattered, and the broken tooth, along with blood foam, shot out of Gerry's mouth.

He couldn't understand why he, hidden in the dark, had been discovered.

His body slammed heavily against the steel pipe. Out of the corner of his eye, Gerry saw the iron can land on the ground, and then—

BOOM!

The iron can suddenly exploded. The next second, countless dense, thick green gases surged out, sweeping through the entire factory like a tsunami.

"What?"

Gerry instinctively took a deep breath.

SWISH!

As the green gas surged into his windpipe.

"Ah!"

His internal organs felt as if they were burning with painful fire. The intense pain made Gerry let out a piercing scream.

Itchy, so itchy, his whole body was itching.

Gerry swung his arms, frantically scratching his itching skin.

Sharp claws pierced his skin, tearing open the flesh beneath, and blood flowed from the wounds.

Under Gerry's continuous scratching, the originally sinister Gerry soon scratched himself into a bloody mess!

"This gas!"

Gerry's body trembled uncontrollably; his mind felt hazy.

"I have to get out of here!"

Gerry's body trembled as he tried to stand up.

But what happened next filled Gerry with even more despair.

SWISH! SWISH!

Dozens of identical iron cans were thrown from the shadows, and another large cloud of thick mist erupted from them.

The green gas continued to permeate the air, turning the entire ironworks into a "green sea" as far as the eye could see, making it impossible to discern directions.

"Damn you, Jino Luthor!" Gerry shrieked in agony. As the thick fog increased, his skin began to crack and break apart. Countless dead cockroaches, flies, and other insects churned and fell from his flesh.

In immense pain, powerless and weak, Gerry was now experiencing Clark's torment.

Suddenly, in the dense fog, Gerry heard heavy breathing.

"Hoo-ch, hoo-ch."

It seemed to be a figure in a protective suit, wearing a gas mask and a silver-grey protective outfit. He was walking leisurely towards Gerry with his hands clasped behind his back.

Jino was in no hurry at all, truly.

He had rushed to the factory to investigate five minutes earlier, after guessing Gerry's location from a map. When he found Gerry hidden in the factory and Clark suspended in mid-air, Jino didn't rashly charge in to rescue them.

First, he spent two seconds running to his company to find Lex, and from Lex, he obtained dozens of Gene Bombs specifically targeting Gerry. Only then did he unhurriedly come here and "gift" all these Gene Bombs to Gerry.

Now, Jino, wearing a lead protective suit, watched Gerry, who looked like a bloody monster, with an intrigued gaze from his sky-blue eyes.

"You look terrible?"

Jino chuckled as he moved closer. He knew Gerry had Kryptonite, so he had put on a custom-made lead protective suit before coming, which naturally blocked Kryptonite's effects on him.

Moreover, Gerry was clearly close to death, so Jino wasn't worried about him piercing his protective suit. Thus, he stood two meters away from Gerry, fearlessly and coldly mocking him.

"Shameless bastard!" Gerry's not-so-bright mind had already guessed what the green smoke was—an "Insecticide" specifically aimed at him.

"Thank you for the compliment."

Jino casually played with the last bottle of Insecticide in his hand, slowly approaching Gerry like a major villain. "Last time, Clark's foolishness let you get away."

"Now he's hanging in the sky; no one can save you."

Listening to Jino's words, Gerry laboriously opened his pus-filled eyes, his gaze complex as it fell upon Clark in the air.

If I hadn't tied Clark up, would there still be hope of escape now?

"Don't give me that pathetic look; you don't deserve it." Jino said with a smile, mercilessly gripping Gerry's chin.

With just a slight squeeze, the jaw, already reduced to fragments, gently opened.

"Mmm, force it, suck, it, in." Jino grasped the metal can and shoved the Insecticide into Gerry's monstrous mouth.

Then, under Gerry's horrified and despairing gaze, the young man gently twisted the switch.

Pfft~

As the valve opened, countless green fumes flowed from Gerry's mouth into his body.

In the last second before his consciousness dissolved, Gerry heard Jino's soft chuckle: "I wonder if Lex can still research this corpse, rotting like this."

This demon had even considered what use his body would be after he died.
