Chapter 6 - WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTH.

Peace in the library reigned once more. Now that Aryan considered Water an 'acquaintance', he found it easy to ignore the guy's presence.

Whenever he walked into the library and met him there, he simply offered a greeting before going to the shelf to get his book and settling into his favorite seat opposite the blue haired demon. He would read to his heart' extent before leaving at the 17th hour as usual. The blue demon was always there from before he came and was always still there when he left the library.

It was another day like that and time had been passing quietly until Water decided he didn't want to remain quiet like he did the past three days.

"Aryan" Water's deep voice rang out, low and firm. Aryan's brows furrowed in slight annoyance from being disturbed as his gaze lifted from his book to the demon's face, one brow lifted in a questioning manner.

"I couldn't help noticing that you're always reading books on the solaroid. Do you perhaps have any personal interest towards it?" Water asked, eyes gleaming a bright shade as his lips curved in a mysterious manner. Aryan simply stared at the demon's face wondering whether or not he can tell the demon the truth. He had never had an acquaintance before so he didn't know how to respond.

'....You're not obligated to share things with each other....'

Water's words echoed in his mind and his gaze refocused on the blue demon, the corner of his lip curving lightly as he already knew how the other would react.

"I'm not obligated to share the answer to that" he responds making Water frown momentarily before donning his usual smirk. Except, Aryan had seen the frown. It was so avid and so real that it couldn't be anything else but that.

Aryan was suddenly hit with awareness of the fact that Water's smirk looked off. No, it had always looked off.

He was now aware how fake it seemed. Its perpetual presence on his face and its off-ness finally made sense, this realization made Aryan feel something that he hadn't felt since the day he met Professor Grem- amusement.

"I guess that's right" Water's deep voice was tight, strained as his eyes quickly went down to stare at his blue hands. Aryan presumed it was to hide the emotions in his eyes that he had failed to conceal. He really wanted to keep the charade going, to keep being amused, so he decided to pay along in a way he normally wouldn't.

"What will I get out of telling you?" he asked dropping his book on the table and folding his hand atop it. Water's gaze shot up instantly meeting Aryan's as they scanned, searched, maybe even judged to see whether or not he was being serious. Aryan, who had no trouble schooling his gaze, now wondered how he had never noticed the blatancy of Water's lack of composure.

'I must have been so disinterested in him' he thought tilting his head in a gesture urging Water to speak. "W-what will you get out of telling me?" Water cringed at the sound of his own voice. 'Why the fuck did I stammer?!' he cussed in his mind quickly letting out a chuckle to cover up his embarrassing mistake.

"An ally! Whatever it is that your interest is based on, I can help you pursue it" he replied quickly, actually proud of his quick thinking.

"Are you sure you can help me? You're just a mere third year student who doesn't attend class properly. Do you even know the basics of magic elements?" Aryan's voice, purposely condescending, rang immediately Water spoke catching the blue demon off guard for a moment and making his pride short-lived.

Finally understanding Aryan's words, he grit his teeth in a bid to suppress his rage. He couldn't stop his ears from turning a bright purple though.

"I'm a fucking Ninth year student" he growled in what, to him, was the most polite his words could sound at that moment. Aryan smiled. "Oh, so you're in your ninth year? No wonder you don't attend classes much" he muttered nodding his head. "You still haven't told me what use you would be though" he added, his gaze travelling from Water's purple ears to his trembling hands.

"You really don't have to tell me anything you don't want to. Hiding from me using taunting tactics is really not going to get us anywhere" Water finally growled after a moment of silent. He was on the verge of throwing a tantrum with the way he had only succeeded in giving out his own information getting nothing in the process. Nothing but shameful taunts that made him burn right to the tips of his toes.

Aryan stared at Water. "I see. You are still unamusing in the end I guess" he muttered with a shake of his head picking his book back up to continue reading it.

That day, Water left the library before Aryan.

Three days had passed and just like that, two weeks had passed since Aryan's discussion with Grem. Grem was off somewhere Aryan should probably know but couldn't remember, Water had been absent from the library the past three days and Aryan himself had just concluded his extensive research on the solaroid.

The large library doors creaked loudly as they were violently pushed open startling the ever sleeping sloth demon that served as the librarian.

Aryan's hand froze in the air as he glanced at the door way, the book in his hand not making its journey to the shelf. In walked Water accompanied by three familiar yet unfamiliar demons. Being what he was, Aryan had only been exposed to a hand full of demons, all of which were high class nobles and royals. So to find that he saw these strange demons as weirdly familiar was more surprising than their method of entry.

The four demons made their way to Aryan, all wearing stoic expressions except Water who, for once, had a genuine smirk on his face Aryan noticed.

"Hello half-breed. Ready to make new friends?" Water's voice danced with an excitement Aryan recognized as the type that lead to all things bad.

He then realized the type of personality Water really had. He was the type he had read about in those ancient human literature. The ones called 'Wolves in sheep cloth'.
