DRYSTAN
The weight crashes on me the moment I'm alone.
I slam the study door behind me and stride toward the liquor cabinet.
My fingers fumble with the glass, nearly dropping it as I pour the drink till it overflows from the glass.
I down it.
Another.
And then another.
The fire in the fireplace crackles in front of me, but it doesn't warm the cold crawling inside my bones.
"Monster," my wolf growls. "You harmed her."
I slam the glass on the table hard enough to crack it.
"She betrayed me." I snarl. I am the Alpha. I have to punish every offender I come across.
Yet, none of them have rendered me this uneasy before. None make me regret or ponder upon my actions like Adeline does.
That quiet defiant gaze of hers remained fixated on me through every word I uttered in the Pack Hall, as if she was looking at me like a joke.
