Author's Note: I am not an editor or a pro writer. I will write this the best I can and edit it the best I can. I also do not own Uma Musume, for it is owned by Cygames. Watch the animes, and read the mangas for they are pretty good. Finally, please enjoy.
Edged Lily POV:
We had gathered back at the hotel and I'm currently showering before the meeting. While I was showering I thought about my teammates, as all of them are pretty impressive in all aspects, especially racing. People call me toxic because I don't believe in babying others when giving them advice, or sympathizing with them. Still, most people only hear, you suck, or quit the sport, or a bunch of taunts even though I'm actually giving them some good advice I use every day. I even listen to the recordings of my own words and it seems people are assuming instead of listening carefully.
The only thing I want is for them to get better and stronger, because I love facing strong opponents and challenging greats and legends. Because for all its worth, what's the point of being dominant or undefeated if you've never been tested or faced anyone or anything that challenges you to your limit? Still, my teammates are different they're either mature enough to listen and not assume like Vic, Mama, Rose, GW, Norn, Steel, Jo, and BlaD, or they hear it and don't see it as insulting and actually think it's just advice like Gray, Rain, ImP, Sweets, Spice, and KiWi. Still, if I had to rank this team honestly from what I have seen in their abilities I would put Steel on top who I will defeat one day, then me, Rose, and Vic tied for second. Then Norn and Spice tied for 5th, then ImP, Mama, and Sweets tied for 7th, and then Jo, BlaD, and Gray tied for 10th.
Finally Rain at 13th, KiWi 14th, and GW in last place. Still, all of us are near each other's ability levels, and depending on strategy we might beat those at higher rankings, except for Steel who is just hard to beat and is on another level. This team is really good, and either we conquer the world or it curb stomps our expectations and makes us eat dirt. I soon got out of the shower and got dressed, and then went to the meeting right after. There it seems leadership was waiting as I was the first one from my group who arrived, but soon everyone else began to arrive for the meeting.
The meeting soon began, and when I heard what we were doing next I was excited. Free Style Running, it combines everything everyone wanted from running in different distances like short sprint races to marathon-level flat ground races to obstacle races where strategy, parkour, and sabotage are key to relay races where teamwork is needed to even mixed races that combine the first three. I loved what I heard, but what I loved most was hearing about the global scene it had, and its long history that might not be popular in Japan, but is everywhere else. That means stronger competition and that we are coming from a weak nation in everyone else's eyes, with them not seeing what we can do. I smiled I'm already known for loving competition, but now a whole new world of legends to kill and monsters to slay, I'm looking forward to it.
Ever since I was young I enjoyed competing with others more than the training, the running, or the winning parts of anything I did. From video games to sports, to martial arts, to even chess. Every time I lost to a strong opponent I worked harder than ever to beat them next time. I was called the rival-seeking missile, as I hunted down strong opponents just to face them. Still, I had a fear of running out of rivals to face so I did multiple sports and tried to get others to become better and grow into threats, but it ended up with them quitting and blaming me for it.
Still, the sport I did the most was cross country as it was the in between of track racing and marathons. Plus, it helped me learn to be great in any terrain I run in, I loved it because it was both competitive and faster than marathons, and it had more diverse scenery while running. That's why I relish the chance to challenge the legends and elites of this sport, because to me that was the best part. I soon returned to training with the rest of the team after we unanimously voted to agree on the team joining the Freestyle Racing scene. Jo was a genius in finding ways to improve, while Rain was full of training methods that actually worked, so if you were stuck behind a wall in your improvement they could find a thousand methods for you to break through.
That's why consulting with them is great, and with Gray's ingenious tactics, Vic's high leadership skills, and what the rest of the team had to offer we all improved significantly. Especially when people actually listened to my advice, like ImP who actually, for the shock of me, asked why I said something, and my explanation of what I was saying caused the rest of the team to realize my actual intentions and who I really am. Now I'm treated with more respect and also now every time I look at ImP I find her too adorable to keep looking at. I don't think my counterpart Rudolf finds Teio cute with this kind of attraction, but somehow I do and I'm kind of embarrassed by it. Later we got called and found out we had a tryout with a scouting company as we switched approaches into finding a team or organization to take us in.
Which is great, because instead of looking for a team or organization yourself, you get paid, and taught while they look for you. Still, you have to go with whatever they find, which at this point is better than nothing. When we met her she shook hands with the team's leaders, but what no one else but me noticed was that High Spice was very much attracted to her, and I don't know if it's lust or love. I didn't think too much about it, because I don't need horny Rice Shower look-alike images in my head. We soon did the tryouts and I knew what she was thinking the moment she saw me was high expectations.
I wouldn't blame her my look-alike is Symboli Rudolf the most famous and dominant racer in the URA's history. Which is fine, but my current goal is to prove to everyone that everyone in this team is better than anyone in the URA including Symboli Rudolf. Which is easy as all past race records are public and I see her past racing times and I can safely say I'm currently faster than her at her prime, but now to prove it. We continued with the tryouts and she was impressed with all of us, whether it was our dominant abilities or high expertise, I soon saw she wanted to sign us. She introduced herself as Ayana Hiraga and soon our business relationship with her began.
We soon got temporary teachers while Ayana was hunting down a team to work under. There was a teacher to teach us singing and dancing, which Norn and BlaD liked. One to teach us training methods and why they're used, which was enjoyed by Rain and Gray a lot. Another for this world's history, which was loved by Vic and GW. Finally, there was one who taught about horse girl anatomy which Joe and Rose liked.
I liked all of it and paid attention while studying everything with everyone. Still, we studied so much and learned so fast, the teachers ran out of material to teach, even though they had other classes with other people, and couldn't be with the team as much. Still with the new data and knowledge, we evolved our running styles, with some enhancing their physical abilities like Rain, and Steel. While others evolved their strategies as they realized they could be even rougher with their Uma Musume rivals like Gray and Sweets. Jo even began to do spiritual studies as to what the Uma soul, along with our souls would be doing as they interacted.
We made discoveries and grew every day, waiting for the day we could find a place of our own that would want us. Then Ayana found a place willing to give us everything we want with limitations, of course, now it was time to check what the catch was.
