Chapter 23 - Keeping secrets

Andria's POV

For a moment, I was frozen in place until the librarian woman spoke up.

"You are blocking the entrance, young lady."

I quickly walked out of the library, and to my surprise, he followed me. "What do you want from me, Zade?"

"Nothing, apart from the fact that you are my mate and you are also mated to three others and you don't want to talk to me, I don't know why."

I felt my heart tighten. Maybe I have been a little too hard on myself, considering he was my ex, but he doesn't know that yet.

Maybe if we start talking, I might find out the actual reason behind the break-up or know if he truly ever felt love for Andra.

"I didn't mean to act weird towards you, I didn't ask for this, it just happened, and I have to deal with the fact that I'm mates with four of you." I started in a low tone, but my tone gradually went higher as I tried to defend myself.

We walked through the school lawn as we spoke. I was headed to the geography lab, maybe I could find something that could help me read the map.

"I see we both are in the same dilemma, isn't it funny how the situation is?"

We both laughed out, and just then, the memories of the betrayal came rushing back to me, mixed with the good times we had that he decided to neglect, reminding me why I shouldn't be standing here with him.

"I'm heading west to the geography lab," my voice turned cold and stern, indicating that I wanted this conversation to end. I think he noticed my countenance because he abruptly stopped laughing and looked at me with a concerned expression written all over his face.

"Ok, if you say so, I'll be heading to the stadium for the Moonfall Remembrance Day. " He shrugged and walked away, leaving me to my thoughts once again.

The walk to the geography lab seemed long, probably because the school was less busy and there was hardly anybody in the school premises. I was lost in my head for a very long time until I arrived at the geography lab.

I hoped to meet the lab attendant or a teacher there, but I couldn't. I walked out of the geography lab a little more disappointed.

"Why is Aven so petty?" I muttered to myself. I needed that book, and he had deprived me of access to it.

One of my flat mates must be studying geography, and I'm going to find out. Today was far spent and we resume classes tomorrow. I can't afford not to start finding this out now.

I walked back to the dorms, and Mel and Larissa were lying carelessly on the floor and sofa. The living room was in a mess, with used dishes and food particles on the floor.

They must have fallen asleep while talking and forgotten to tidy up where they ate.

I tapped them up, "Mel, Larissa, wake up, why is everywhere messy?"

I was irritated by their nonchalant attitude. However, they were good people, so I could tolerate them.

They got up and hurriedly tidied the space, and I sat with them.

"I hope you aren't angry with us, we dozed off while chatting, and we could have tidied it before you came back, if you didn't come back this early," Mel apologized, and Larissa made a pouty, funny face, and I felt the irritation disappear.

"Besides, how was your day?" Larissa added to what Mel said,

"Did you meet your handsome mates?" Mel teased, allowing her arm to meet mine. I wonder why she feels like it's a joke.

"I heard they were at the stadium for the Moonfall remembrance, and I'm guessing that's where you went." The look on Larissa's face as the words came out from her mouth was like she was expecting me to nod in affirmation; she's excited about this whole mate thing, more than I am.

"Sorry to disappoint you guys, I didn't go to the stadium today. Now, can we change the topic?"

I stood up to leave and avoid further conversation about my mates. I had hoped they would recognize how uncomfortable the subject made me and change it, but I was disappointed.

Larissa held my hands and looked straight into my eyes with those judgmental eyes, like she didn't believe what I had just said. "Then where did you go?"

"It's none of your business," I retorted in a friendly manner. They made a weird face and then chorused. "Maybe she had an appointment with them and had gone to their dorms."

At this time, I knew they were just teasing me to find out where I had gone. Anyways, let me satisfy their curiosity and bring down their excitement.

"I had gone to the library"

There was an awkward silence for a while, like they were trying to process what I had just said.

"Talking about mates, you are lucky to have three at your disposal, because you just met your wolf." I felt the tension in her voice as she spoke.

"I had shifted and met a wolf since I was sixteen, and yet I haven't met mine, and here you are blessed with not one but three," Mel added.

I felt uncomfortable with their words because I didn't know how to solve their problems, but they have been good to me, and if I were the moon goddess, I would hand them each a mate.

"But I have my eyes on the Alpha of the silver night pack, his name is Zade Ray."

As those words came out of Larissa's mouth, I felt my heart sink. She wasn't. They weren't aware that I had four mates, and the fourth mate was Zade.

I can't tell them now. I felt so bad for keeping so many secrets from them, but I had to; I can't make my flat mates my new enemies.

"What about him?" Mel sat up, giving Larissa a knowing look. She seemed so excited about the news.

I wanted to tell them that he isn't as good as he appeared, but I would look like the bad guy, so I prefer to be silent and let time reveal what he truly was.
