Lucas almost raised his hand to hit Duke, who had shown himself to Grace as Victor. However, Grace quickly stopped Lucas.
"What's wrong with you, Lucas? You can't pick a fight with the new residents of this apartment!" Grace scolded him.
Grace didn't understand Lucas' sudden change in behavior, which reminded her of Ezra's explosive temper. Usually, Lucas was much calmer when facing any problem and would only get angry when his peace was disturbed.
What Lucas did to Victor made Grace recall the first time Ezra saw Lucas. Hating someone without any apparent reason upon first meeting.
"Grace, he—"
"Victor, I'm sorry on Lucas's behalf. He's in a bad mood today."
Without waiting for Lucas to finish his sentence, Grace pressed the back of Lucas's head down to make him bow in front of Victor to show his guilt for what he had done.
Reluctantly, Lucas did it because he was forced to, even though he didn't feel guilty at all.
"It's okay. It looks like it will be fun to have neighbors like you. Good evening," replied Victor, who then entered his house.
Grace didn't lift her head until Victor was entirely out of sight.
"Lucas, you should act better!" Grace scolded him, gently tapping his forehead.
"Why didn't you scold him, too? That stranger touched your hair without permission. Is that polite?"
Ah, Grace still couldn't believe Lucas would act like that and say so many things out of character just because of a stranger who was going to be their neighbor. Luckily, Ezra wasn't there at the time, or the commotion would have been even worse.
"Maybe he was just trying to flirt with me." Grace walked over to take her keys from her pocket.
"Then why didn't you try to refuse?"
"Lucas, if you're jealous, just say so. Why get so angry?" Grace said with a small laugh, hoping Lucas would take her words as a joke.
Yeah, Lucas really didn't like seeing Grace with other men, including Ezra. But this time, his anger wasn't because of blind jealousy. Even though Lucas knew he was the most dangerous person for Grace, he wanted her to be safe from Duke as much as possible.
Grace turned to look at Lucas, who was still standing there with his head bowed, lost in thought. Grace was sure that something was weighing heavily on Lucas's mind this time.
"You are an outspoken person. If something is bothering you, say it!" Grace said.
That's why Lucas immediately walked quickly, pulling Grace's hand into his apartment.
"What's wrong? Did I do something to make you act weird today?" Grace asked, confused.
There was no response at all from Lucas, who immediately pressed Grace's body against the wall with his own. He stared deeply into Grace's lips for a few moments, leaving Grace speechless and confused.
"I want you," Lucas said.
