Lucas stared at the lit match in Duke's hand. He imagined how painful it would be to die by fire. However, that doesn't apply to Duke, who cannot be easily set on fire by any fire.
"I didn't betray you," Lucas said softly.
Duke chuckled, understanding that Lucas seemed afraid of the flame in his hand and was trying to defend himself.
"Oh, really? It's clear you had sex with Grace last night."
"How can you say that?"
"Because I know everything you do, Lucas."
That's impossible.
Even though Duke was one of the most respected vampires, he did not have the freedom to use his powers to that extent unless he behaved like a vampire who was not worthy of respect.
Even if Duke had been in the apartment unit right next to Lucas's last night, he couldn't have heard everything Lucas did with Grace.
"Admit it, Lucas. Dying in flames isn't so bad if you believe in reincarnation," said Lucas.
"Yes, I had sex with Grace," said Lucas, trying to remain calm.
