Chapter 12 - Take me with you

Sienna froze, her ears buzzing.

Caitlin shouted, "You sold your shares to an outsider? To that bastard who doesn't even belong in this family?! How can you do that?! Did you know that you're indirectly giving out the company to a stranger of unknown blood?! Why? Let me guess, so he would marry you?! As if! He never would! But you failed to see that, you pathetic—"

Before she could finish her sentence, Sienna's palm struck, and a sharp crack echoed as Caitlin's head jerked sideways, leaving her dizzy for a split second.

Sienna actually slapped her?!

It was Caitlin's turn to freeze, her eyes wide with disbelief. Gasps rose from the three sisters in the background as they covered their mouths.

Caitlin's eyes turned red, her voice shaking. "Did you just slap me?"

Sienna scoffed. "What? Want another one?"

Caitlin flew into rage. "You bitch!"

She stretched out her hand again, but Sienna quickly caught it this time, tightening her grip around Caitlin's wrist.

Both glared at each other.

Caitlin's chest tightened with fury, her face flushed with shame and anger. "Let me go!" she seethed and struggled for a good while before Sienna finally released her.

Caitlin humphed, but she didn't raise her hand again. A part of her still couldn't believe this.

When had she ever been at the mercy of others?

Adelaide quickly walked forward. "Sienna! What are you doing?"

Agnes followed. "You hurt Eldest Sister! Damn! Was it that bastard that told you to do this?"

Sienna sneered, and the coldness in her expression made the two sisters feel uncomfortable. "Whether I sell my shares or whoever I sell them to is none of your concern. If you dare try to lay a hand on me ever again, prepare yourself for the worst."

With that, she walked away.

Louisa looked around the room, scratched her head and quickly ran after Sienna.

Caitlin's body swayed, and the twins supported her.

"Louisa, bring the medicine kit!" one of them yelled.

Sienna's hand had been heavy, and her handprint was vivid on her cheek.

After getting no response, they finally realized the little girl had already left the room.

"Damn! That little wench."

*****

Inside her room, Sienna examined her cheek in the mirror. Caitlin didn't really hold back at all and her cheek was now bruised.

None of this had happened in the novel, and she simply couldn't understand why Caitlin would hit her just because she sold her shares. Moreover, the system doesn't know much either, except what was mentioned in the book.

She pressed an ice pack against her cheek, frowning at the cold while pondering aloud. "Why was it any of her concern what I did—"

Knock knock.

She glanced toward the door. "Come in."

A head popped in.

Louisa.

She slipped fully into the room and shut the door behind her. Her expression was one of a worry when she saw the handprint marring Sienna's cheek. "Your cheek is swollen!"

She placed an ointment in front of her. "You should apply this."

Sienna took a look at the ointment, and immediately realized it was the real deal. She muttered a thank you and began to apply the ointment on her cheek. Her brows furrowed slightly as it stung, and Louisa gently patted her back.

Once done, she handed it back.

Suddenly, she stared at Louisa's face, causing the girl to look away.

Sienna couldn't help but chuckle. "What is it?" It was obvious Louisa had something to say.

Louisa took a deep breath. "Did you really… sell your shares?"

"Yeah."

A few seconds of silence passed in the room.

"To Ashton?"

"Yeah?"

"Did he… lied to you?"

"Lied?" Sienna raised a brow.

Louisa nodded. "Yes… but don't be deceived! He would be getting engaged to Shayla next month. In fact, he already sent out the invitation to Anna's family."

"Well, it's none of my concern whom he get engaged to." She met Louisa's gaze. "I sold the shares to him so I could earn more. You see… I need a lot of money right now."

Louisa believed her sister wouldn't lie to her, she never did, so she immediately felt relieved after hearing her words.

In the end, she gently asked. "Is it… a huge amount?"

"What?"

"The money you needed…?"

"Oh yeah, millions."

"Are you in debts?" Louisa's voice rose.

"Uh? Of course not!"

"Then… why did you need that much money?"

Sienna slowly explained, "I'm planning on relocating."

"Relocating…" Louisa mumbled the term like it was a strange word, several emotions flashing in emerald eyes. After a silence that stretched for almost a minute, she clenched her fist like she had made her decision, then turned to Sienna. "Sister, can you take me with you?"

Sienna paused.

Of course, she was planning on bringing Louisa with her. It was what she owed the original owner, moreover, she had a soft spot for little girls and would have brought her along either way, she just never thought Louisa would volunteer first.

"You know, you didn't even ask me where I'm relocating to, you just straight up said you wanted to go. Are you sure about that?"

Louisa affirmed. "Home is boring anyway. Moreover…" her voice turned softer, but there was a hint of firmness in it. "I want to be with you, always."

Something stirred in Sienna's chest, and her head lowered.

She couldn't help but be moved.

How can there exist such a lovely little sibling? Or was it because Louisa was still young?

Of course, Louisa knew what she was saying.

She was doted on by her father, which simply means she experienced the opposite from her other sisters.

Ever since she was old enough to differentiate left from right, the only one who always played with her was Sienna. Even when she was little. She'd sit in her nursery, sing her lullabies, sleep with her when she had nightmares, buy her gifts, take her out, always there for her, and when she was bullied, she'd stepped up for her without any hesitation.

It was the kind of love no one ever showed her, not even her father.

She couldn't imagine a world where her beloved sister didn't exist.

"Alright then."

Louisa's eyes lit up. "Thanks! When are we going? I'll go pack my things!"

Her enthusiastic appearance made Sienna's mouth twitched. "Calm down, will you? Anyway, next month at most. I'll let you know once it's time."

"No problem…"

The heavy atmosphere dispersed, and the two sisters whose names would one day shake the world chatted idly.

"By the way, have you eaten?"

"Not yet."

"Perfect, I made some noodles half an hour ago. Should I warm them up and bring them over?"

"Sure, thanks."

Louisa jumped up and disappeared from the room.

Sienna's eyes lingered on her retreating figure, and a sigh escaped her lips.
