Chapter 13 - Getting her car

The next day, Sienna continued with her training. Even when her legs were trembling like they would drop her the next second, she kept pushing.

Today's target was 1.5 km, and her lungs were burning so badly by the time she was done.

She collapsed on the ground like the day before, but her eyes were bright despite the fatigue she felt. She enjoyed this feeling of pushing her body to the limit.

Right then, there was a confirmation ding!

[Congratulations! You've been rewarded with a Boost Pill.]

The Boost Pill was as black as coal, but Sienna didn't hesitate to toss it into her mouth.

Not even three seconds later, it worked. Her fatigue vanished like smoke, and instead, she felt this crazy rush of energy—like she hadn't even run a step.

She was however a bit disappointed when she saw her stats weren't even increasing. Never mind, that was expected. She had her doubts the day before anyway. At the end of the day, real progress doesn't happen immediately, it takes time.

Sienna walked over to the concrete block at the center of the field, her breathing already calm thanks to the pill. She pressed her palms against the cool wall surface, planting her feet slightly behind her.

"Wall pushups first," she muttered.

She bent her elbows, chest lowering toward the wall, then pushed back with force. One… two… three… four…

At first, it was easier than she had expected. She even had trouble believing she was doing this well.

But soon enough, the burn came back. Her shoulders tightened, her arms shook, and even her chest ached with every push. Her breathing turned labored, and she was starting to slow down.

She gritted her teeth, sweat dripping down her temple. Each push was like fighting against her own weakness. Twenty-five… twenty-six… twenty-seven…

The system didn't reward her with any ding this time.

By the time she hit fifty reps, her arms were trembling like jelly. She leaned against the wall, panting, but there was a smile on her lips.

She had done way more than she thought possible.

One had to know, an average unfit person like her could only have done at most a bit over twenty. But she did fifty!

She slid down to sit, muttering, "Is this a result of that Boost Pill?"

Sienna spent the rest of the afternoon ordering things on her lists.

In the evening, she went to pick up her car at the dealership.

It had already been three days. However, rather than taking a cab, Sienna walked there. She wouldn't miss a chance to engage in any form of exercise.

She tightened the scarf around her neck as she crossed the road. The weather today was extremely different from yesterday—it was freezing. Even her fingers had turned numb.

She couldn't help but sigh.

"Miss Sienna!" Rami welcomed once he saw her. "You're here for your car, right? She's ready."

He led her through the lot, talking nonstop. "By the way, we've already sent your balance. Did you see it?"

"Yeah, thanks."

Finally, they stopped in front of her car.

The Land Cruiser in front of her was nowhere near the one from yesterday. The difference was like heaven and earth.

The matte-black paint gave it a low, fierce look. The doors were reinforced, with faint welding lines still visible. Bull bars jutted out at the front and a heavy winch was below. LED light bars lined the roof rack, and a snorkel climbed the side. The tires looked like they could crush anything in their way.

Sienna ran her hand across the surface. Pretty smooth. The silicone finish would make it harder for things to latch on.

"Two extra tanks in the back," the mechanic who had joined them said, tapping the rear. "Each one is fitted with a lock. Solar charging kit's wired to the roof, and I reinforced the undercarriage."

"You did a great job. Thanks." Sienna nodded in appreciation. It was exactly what she wanted.

Rami told her, "The paperwork's done. You can take her anytime."

Sienna slid inside, adjusting herself. Seeing her fumbling with the gear, the mechanic's eyes widened and he immediately warned. "Miss, you should take it slow!" he said carefully. "This isn't an ordinary car. The engine has been tuned and the suspension's stiffer! Those tires will grab anything under them. If you're not used to—"

Vroom.

Before he could finish his words, the engine roared to life and the car shot out.

"Uh?..." The mechanic froze, the rest of his words stuck in his throat.

In the end, he ran out, ready to watch the stubborn customer realise this wasn't any simple car. Instead, he couldn't say a single word other than to watch with dropped jaws.

Dust kicked up as she drove at an extremely fast speed. The mechanic's heart was in his throat. "Is she not afraid of losing control?!"

The car tilted on a sharp turn, but the suspension caught it instantly. She took the corner perfectly.

The mechanic's heart almost stopped. "Caref—!"

But she was already gone, speeding further down the track.

Meanwhile, there was a wild glint in Sienna's eyes. She couldn't hear what the mechanic was yelling at all. She was immersed in how fluid and powerful the car was. It was worth every dollar.

She tested the brakes next, slamming down suddenly. The tires screeched, grinding into the dirt before stopping in place. Not even a wobble.

Then she threw it into reverse, spun the wheel, and corrected smoothly before accelerating again. The engine roared, but Sienna's hands were firm, her eyes locked forward with an eagle-like focus.

By the time she circled back toward the mechanic, dust trailing behind her, both the man and Rami just stood there with their mouths half open, staring.

The SUV stopped right in front of him, and the window slid down. Sienna's slightly flushed face appeared.
