Chapter 7 - Selling her car

Sienna burped as they walked out of the restaurant with swollen lips and reddened eyes, and of course, a satisfied stomach.

She had also asked for the Boss' contact, leaving the middle-aged man confused — but he nodded anyway.

The afternoon sun had mellowed out a bit, casting a soft golden hue on everything it touched.

However, the moment the two sisters stepped into the parking lot, they paused.

A small group of people had gathered around Sienna's car. They were taking pictures of it, and a couple even posed.

One guy even crouched for a low-angle shot like it was some car magazine feature.

"What's going on?" Louisa mumbled.

At the same time, Sienna sighed.

Of course, it would stand out like a sore thumb. It was quite an expensive car after all, but she hadn't expected many people to be this interested in it.

It would be a terrible ride in the apocalypse.

A thought flashed in her mind, and her expression lit up.

"I will drop you off first. Let's go." With that, the two approached the car amidst the crowd.

When she hit the unlock button, the soft click of the locks echoed.

Everyone turned.

There was a split-second of silence before gasps and murmurs rose as the two got inside.

"Whose family's rich daughters are those?" Someone murmured.

Meanwhile, Louisa went straight to the point, her eyes glinting. "Mmm, Sister, you said you needed me to do something earlier. What was it?"

She was excited when she thought of having to do something for her sister, and she couldn't wait to do it perfectly.

Sienna smiled as she wore her seatbelt. "Aye, can you help me draft a list of the best restaurants and their signature cuisines?"

Louisa's expression brightened and she patted her chest confidently. "That's super easy! I will get it done immediately."

Sienna smiled again. "Thank you."

With that, she turned up music and drove away.

After dropping Louisa off, Sienna headed back to the city center where she'd noticed a dealership earlier.

She pulled in and stepped out. The place looked fairly large, but there weren't many people around. The guy at the front desk was already dozing off but stood immediately as soon as she tapped the desk.

"Yes?"

"I'm here to sell my car."

"Oh, okay, what car?" He asked groggily, yawning halfway through.

Sienna frowned. "Range Rover Autobiography. 2023 series. It's in good condition."

The sleepiness seemed to vanish from the young man's eyes as he immediately straightened, nodding.

"Esteemed guest, please have a seat."

Sienna nodded and sat, crossing her legs elegantly while the young man made a call. Within a few seconds, a tall man in a grey suit appeared, looking professional.

After introducing himself as Rami, he asked Sienna to show him the car, which she did.

He gave a sigh of admiration as patted the bumper, then turned to Sienna. "This is such a beautiful girl. If you don't mind me asking, why sell it?"

Sienna didn't bat an eye. "My family went bankrupt and we owed some debts. Driving this is like calling for attention."

"Oh my bad, I'm sorry to hear that."

Sienna nodded. "No worries."

"I'll have my team run a quick appraisal. Should only take about ten minutes. You can wait inside."

Back in the air-conditioned lobby, Sienna sat again, scrolling through the ton of messages her little sister had sent.

All sorts of dishes and the restaurants that were good at them were listed, and she even rated and commented on them.

A faint smile appeared on her lips, softening her cold features.

What a good girl.

About twelve minutes later, Rami returned. "We've assessed the car. Based on the current market, model condition, and mileage, we can offer you a buyout of $140k. What do you think?"

Sienna tilted her head slightly. That was more than she had expected.

So she nodded. "Sure."

A pleased smile appeared on Rami's face. Well, who doesn't like such smooth transactions? "Great. Now, would you be interested in a trade-in? Or just taking the cash?"

Sienna responded, "May I see your catalogue?"

Rami's smile widened as he handed it over. "Yes, please."

Sienna took the catalogue, eyes scanning the list.

She knew what she needed the most now — which is simply an off–road beast that could handle the apocalypse terrain. Natural disasters became almost a daily occurrence, and she needed a car that wouldn't give out midway.

A car she would need…

Her gaze stopped at one, and she handed the catalogue back. "This one."

"Oh yeah, a Toyota Land Cruiser… 70 series…?" His brows lifted from surprise, but he nodded right after.

It made sense she would choose it since she wanted to stay low-key.

"Do you offer modifications?"

Rami's eyes shone. "Yes, we do!"

"Good. I want the windows bullet-proofed, the doors reinforced, off-road tires, bull bars, brush guards… And oh, install a snorkel too, and make the body slick—oil-based or silicone finish."

Listening further to her, Rami's expression held a hint of pity.

Sighs, this young lady is so pitiful.

How old is she?

Probably eighteen or nineteen… yet her family went bankrupt and they were in debts, and now, she has to learn to protect herself, even going for bullet-proof stuff.

Meanwhile, the pitiful Sienna continued. "Please also add a winch, LED light bars, a solar charging kit, and at least two extra fuel tanks."

At this point, Rami knew this woman was probably leaving the city.

He cleared his throat and thoughtfully reminded her. "Miss, if the creditors are threatening you… report it to the police, alright?"
