"Serves him right!" The adventurer from earlier said.
"Oi! You fucking idiot!" Aurelia screams at him and starts to walk closer. "He was mine, how dare you?!"
"You didn't seem angry when I used my spells on him..." I comment.
"I just wanted to help, lady!" He answers with his hands in front of him, asking her to calm down.
So he wants to give us help?
"Help? You attacked me, and now you want to help?"
"I don't buy that you became a traitor, and you are too weak to what you used to... and the whole kingdom has been acting... odd, to put it lightly."
Yeah, when I arrived at the capital, Kathrina and I were stopped, like they were waiting for something or someone. Here, it didn't happen; we were just let in, and they even laughed at my clothes, not recognizing me.
"And why did you attack me?" I am not trusting him.
Aurelia is still threatening him by staying close.
"W-well..." He eyes Aurelia and takes a step back, she takes another forward, keeping the distance. "When I heard you were there, I wanted to have another go..."
I am not buying it.
"Okay, leave us. Aurelia, if he follows us, kill him."
"Consider it done." Aurelia answer.
I turn around and start walking towards the woods. We are going north, abandoning the borders of the kingdom to find help out there.
Having a bounty for my head is dangerous, especially when even the guards are trying to get to us. Aurelia can take them on and keep me safe, but at this rate I will not be able to rent a bed or use the services, even buying clothes is out of the question. I need to either pass without being recognized or get to a place where they won't care enough about me. Another faction entirely, one that rivals the one that is hunting me, is a good choice.
"W-what? Wait, there is something you must know!"
"There you are!" A familiar female voice sounds.
I turn around and immediately see the pink hair and the robe, walking towards me and pointing a finger.
"You! You will go back, apologize, and pay for the damages you caused to the roof of the temple, now!"
Did Lisa just walk all the way out here just to yell at me about that?! Is she serious?!
"Sorry, but out of the question. Besides, the one that caused all that damage is that guy sleeping on the ground, putting it in his tab."
"Amber..." Karina speaks, but I ignore her.
"You are the one who started to fight on top of it! You must pay that and the uncursing of items!"
...
[Something prevents you from removing your pants]
"Nope, sorry, you didn't uncurse my items. Goodbye."
I turn around again, and then she janks my shoulder to force me to turn around to face her.
"Oh, no, you won't, miss! You destroyed a holy place! Do it, or your soul will be sent to the Core of the Nothingness!"
"Amber, look..." Karina speaks again, but I am with Lisa's index finger in my face and her other hand on my shoulder.
"I am not paying a single gold piece, now let me go!"
"We got them! The vulpin and her allies!"
A group of soldiers managed to get close to us, and behind them ,a few royal mages were in place. They wore white robes and had their faces covered with masks.
"I tried to warn you, idiot," Karina says.
God dammit!
"Hah! Finally!" Lisa turns towards them and closes her eyes. "Please, she is escaping after destroying the roof of the church and is not willing to pay for the provided services!" She doesn't notice someone put a spear in her face. "I am willing to testify and..." She opens her eyes.
"All of you are under arrest for treason against the crown!" One of the guards say.
"HUH?! Excuse me?! I am a devoted follower of the trifecta, you imbeciles!"
"Silence and comply!" One of the mages says.
I cannot say I don't find the situation amusing, at least.
"Are you crazy?! I am a known member of the...!"
One of the mages starts to chant a magic spell, and they seem to be casting it towards Lisa. I grab her from the back of her robe and push her to the side, causing her to fall to the ground.
An electric ray passed by me as I moved out of the way at the last second. Aurelia gets closer and uses [Inferno] to push them again, firing directly towards them.
"Ah!" Lisa screams, apparently realizing the situation she is in.
A fireball passes through her spell and hits her squarely in the chest, pushing her back for a couple of meters.
"Shit! They hit hard!"
They are the Royal Magic Force, extremely powerful mages formed a couple of generations ago. They are powerful spellcasters, so it is not surprising to me that Aurelia felt just one of the attacks.
When her spell dissipates, the normal soldiers who got hit with the attack were on the ground, but the mages were still standing.
"Surrender, Amber. We know you lost all your levels." Says one of them. Under his cloak, I can see blue hair.
"Hey!" Someone yells.
The Adventurer threw something at them, and a green smoke appeared when it hit the chest of one of them. They start to cough uncontrollably when it reaches their faces. Using this advantage, he takes a scroll out of his inventory and reads it out loud.
A wall of ice appears, blocking their view of us. Perfect!
"To the forest!" I scream.
By pure instinct, I grab Lisa's hand and pull her to run with me.
"H-hey! Where are you taking me?! Help!"
"They are going to kill you, get it already!" I warn her.
The spell they threw could easily kill someone who is not prepared. It was [Death Ray], an electric-based spell designed to cause massive single-target damage and paralyze them if they survive. They took a shot at her even when she was innocent from the beginning.
"B-but I cannot just leave!"
Just shut up and run away.
Aurelia grunts in frustration and follows the Adventurer as he follows me, but she decides to continue running. The mages start to cast powerful fire magic at the Ice Wall. I can see the flames going up when it hits the cold surface. They are going to get through at any moment.
This is not what I wanted to happen, but we are taking the priest girl with us. And the Adventurer seems to want to come too.
The last thing I need is for this situation to get even more complicated.
