The leader smirks at me when I make my claim.
One of the members of this group shot an arrow at me when they thought I was not looking. But I see him pull the string of the bow. I take the hilt of Bloodless and pull it out of the scabbard for a bit and cast [Magic Shield]. It does not penetrate, and the projectile gets reflected once it hits.
That is not enough to impress them, so I look at Karina, who notices my look and then the arrow. She smiles.
With her power, she makes the arrow fly back from the ground towards the one who shot me with enough speed to pierce through his shoulder and make him fall.
His scream is loud and painful. Everyone looks back at me when they see the trick Karina pulled. They have no idea it was not me who did it.
"I am helpful!" Karina was beaming with happiness as she could do something.
"I am willing to speak if the guy with the crossbow on that tent is willing to put his weapon down." I point to one of the tents. I managed to catch a glimpse of a metal point aiming at me.
I make a quick scan of the area with my eyes. I see some cells made of wood, maybe makeshift ones, and there are people inside.
The leader looked at the tent and then sighed.
"Okay, everyone, back down, return to your own business! I am dealing with this fox."
Everyone slowly returned to what they were doing before I arrived. The leader walks towards me.
"And who are you, making demands?" He says.
"Only if you tell me first who you are," I answer.
I try to keep it cool, but I can sense an aura coming from him. A certain force that can only be described as a heavy commanding force.
Either he is naturally intimidating, or he has an aura effect going.
Ugh, why did I make Amber so short? I should have made her at least as tall as Aurelia. I have to crank my neck to look him in the eyes, and it is making me self-aware. I was around his height when I was on Earth.
"Okay, you get the courtesy." The man scans the area. Probably seeing if I am with the company. "I am General Maxwell, from the Eye of the Right Dominion. We are here on official business and we don't like intruders in it. Your turn before I put your head in a guillotine."
He must be fun at parties.
"Amber. I walk alone and represent no one." I point my finger at him. "I have witnesses saying your group stole an amulet from a nearby temple. I came here for it."
I feel magic cast around me. Several ethereal spears protrude from the snow and point towards my neck, surrounding me in a circle. He is not intending to talk this out.
"I have never seen a mage with a sword. Give it to me." He extends his arm.
He believes he has the upper hand in this situation. Okay. I give him Bloodless. He cannot use it anyway, but Karina looks worried that I did.
I can summon her anytime I need it if she is not with me. She doesn't need to worry.
"Someone, take her to a cell! We are taking her too."
Some of his underlings take me towards one of the makeshift cells in the camp. I make a thumbs-up in my back, hoping my allies notice I am fine; this is part of what I want. I want to check who is inside.
"You know, that was stupid of you. You must be new on this, even when you left a good impression with the walking through the river trick, no one comes into a camp to make demands and hope they get whatever they demand." The leader says while walking. He starts to inspect Bloodless and looks at it weirdly when he notices it is dull.
Karina gets angry at him when she notices the dismissive look.
"Walk faster!" One of the men says and pokes me with his sword.
He is dying first.
As we pass, I take note of what I see. They have a few baskets and boxes with fruits, weapons, greens, meat, and drinks. This is a nice haul. On one side, I manage to see horses, donkeys, and giant lizards with saddles. Maybe that is how they transport stuff around, and I am sure these are spoils of war stolen from different groups.
They shove me into one of the cages by pushing me with a kick. I fall to the ground while grunting. It hurt. But no matter, this will last just a bit.
On my right, there are two children, one of them is a male looking feline with blue hair and eyes, the other an elf with blonde hair and green eyes. In the next cage, was a female adult elf, praying while crying.
"Hey, where are you from?"
Both look at me in surprise when I ask them something. They seem to want to talk with me, but they stay silent. The fellow opens his mouth but stops himself.
"It's okay, I will get us out of here. I am Amber. I just want to know where you are from to see if I can return you there."
The elf girl hesitates, but ends up talking.
"We come from the Walker's Camp that is up north... I don't know if they are still there..."
"Shhhhh!" I hear the elf lady. She is looking at us with wide eyes, with fear in her eyes, and a finger against her lips.
"Didn't I tell you to shut up!" One of the camp members yelled at her and got right on the door, starting to turn the lock. "Seems I have to shut you up myself!"
He opens it and enters, and grabs the woman by the shoulders to push her into her cage.
"You are a pussy for attacking defenseless people, you worthless piece of shit!" I yell at him.
There is a deep silence when I say. The kids look at me in surprise, and the guard who was assaulting the elf lady turns his attention to me.
"Open her cell! I will show her a lesson!" He screams.
I walk back to the end of my cell while I watch with a wide smirk the soldier open the door to my cage and let the first one open. He starts to crack his knuckles.
"You are property of the Eye until we get paid! We took your flimsy sword, so if you think you can take on us without one, you are-"
"Bloodless," I summon her, and the sword appears in my hand. His eyes go wide, and before he reacts, I place my hand on his chest. "[Inferno]"
