Chapter 9 - The Ride

By the next day, Jaquer got his hunting sword back, which he had left behind in the Mortal Realm, delivered by a servant demon.

'Why am I dressed up this way?'

That was the first thought Jaquer had when he looked at himself in the mirror before waiting beneath the scorching sun.

Jaquer couldn't help but look at his dress with a cringe expression.

Wearing white shirt, and hunting pants paired with long boots for nearly 10 years, Jaquer didn't like the dress given to him.

And what especially annoyed him was the necklace resting on his nape. Regardless of several attempts, he couldn't open the lock and unbind the gold chain from his neck.

He didn't like jewellery and specially had 'allergy' with them. Being born in a noble family, he was forced into wearing gold rings, thick necklaces and bracelets.

Finally, after attending training classes, he was allowed to throw them away, and honestly, he had never been so happy until that day.

But the chain was back and paired with this disgusting fabric, he was sure, he looked like a thug. The hunter took the structural crimson robe between him fingers and studied the material. It was made with Flame Flower, an expensive fabric like silk in mortal realm.

And underneath, he wore nothing...

Nothing.

That was Jaquer's problem in this dress, at least if somebody could spare him and underwear but nah.

Although the robe didn't show any signs of disclosure but it was uncomfortable.

He wept invisible tears, but it wasn't like he had any choice. After fastening and unfastening the belt on his waist like an impatient child, he glared at Venor.

The man wore same dress as him but not very strangely, his chest was visible because the robe turned out to be quite small for his bigger build.

Jaquer wondered if it was intentional because Venor's very own favored tailor had sewn this dress overnight, so he had the right to doubt that showing his chest was a tricked pull to look seductive.

Jaquer turned his head towards Alys and Eres, standing next to him in their comfortable hunter dress.

He glanced at them with jealousy.

And beside Alys, Hader stood wearing Jaquer's hunting dress.

He swore to God, this was a mess. Even though Hader looked beautiful in his malicious dress, he was less caring about her look and more worried about the event going to happen that day.

After waiting at the courtyard of Red Garden Citadel for more than 15 minutes, finally, the so-called carriages arrived.

....?

Jaquer brawled his eyes at the demonic birds, who almost looked like a vulture but were more than ten times their size, standing before him and betting on a staring contest.

The bird carried a rectangular shape, makeshift structure on its mantle, made from Stronghold Wood with incarnated demons structure erected beside the four corners.

"We demons prefer the sky rather than the bumpy road. It's faster and convenient." Venor tangled his long fingers between Jaquer's and tugged him towards the carriage, leaving the other three to choose another bird of their preference.

The bird spread its wings and lowered them at Venor's feet to be used like a staircase.

Before getting inside the chamber, from the corner of his eyes, Jaquer glanced at the trio and felt a pang of jealousy noticing Alys assisting Hader to walk on the wings while Eres tagging behind them.

Very unlikely behaviour from Alys but before he could think further, Venor dragged him inside the chamber and closed the door behind.

The carriage could definitely manage more than two passengers but it also gave Jaquer was somehow glad to be with Venor. It provided him some personal space the rest and eased his awkwardness.

But before anything, he looked at the interior's design with an awed expression and slightly gaped at the sight.

The space was colored with chestnut bark extract. A chandelier hung above, lit with candles, which shone on the entire cabinet.

Cushions were laid near the window, giving a view below the sky.

Venor walked near a map drawn with ox blood and moved the bird shaped magnetic structure from the former position towards north and rested at a position, graphically represented with sea monsters.

As soon as the bird flapped its wings and Venor grabbed onto an iron shaft, carved near the map and turned towards Jaquer, "Hold my hands,"

"Why?"

Venor didn't have time to explain, he grabbed the hunter's hand like a young kid refusing to hold an adult's hand, and the carriage moved.

Jaquer's body curved towards the south, as the bird took a sharp turn towards the sky.

His loose robe flew from the wind, barging through the window, and in an attempt to keep the robe from showing his inner thighs, he flumsily struggled with one hand while other holding Venor.

During the act, his hand slipped from Venor's hold, and he stumbled backward. His mouth shaped in an 'O' as realisation drawn upon his face, but before he could go further than an arm's length of Venor, the demon caught him by his waist and pulled him near his chest.

For the first time, Jaquer didn't complain being near to Venor as the position not only protected his dress but also his body.

Jaquer buried his face in Venor's chest and hugged the latter's body as his heart beat rapidly from the fear of falling again.

While the two lads stood tightly against each other, the chaos in the second carriage played in contradiction to the first.

"Ahhhhh," As the commotion began, the three looked at each other before they stumbled towards the end of the chamber.

The second bird followed the route of the first bird, while the human in the carriage suffered without prior knowledge of this demonic vehicle.

"Fuck," Alys cursed unfiltered, not minding the princess struggling beside him.

"Control your mouth," Eres complained.

"I will, if this fucking thing stops." Alys' mouth went on a rampage as he was unable to control his disbalanced body.

Hader, on the other hand, noticed the iron shaft, but to walk or run towards the iron shaft was impossible.

She grabbed onto the pilaster near her body and, with a difficult grip, remained balanced.

The chandelier hanging above shook, and warm wax fell in every direction.

It seems destiny was against Alys that day, a drop of warm wax fell on his body.

"Somebody fucking stop this thing!" He screeched with annoyance and started shouting maniacally as the wax continued to fall on his hand.

From the corner of his eyes, he noticed a fair hand, beautifully manicured to perfection, extending toward him.

His graze moved towards the the owner of the hand and he noticed Hader looking at him with calculative expression.

He took the hand and...

Crash.

The carriage took a sharp turn towards the east, and Alys came crashing over Hader.

His hand barely made distance between them as he rested them on the wall and trapping Hader between his arms.

"Sorry," He quietly apologized and held the pilaster.

His face bright red, he searched for Eres, who seemed to be uh...

Lying face flat on the ground. Poor Eres.
