Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Manga System

At the Ninja Academy, inside the classroom.

In the back corner of the last row, a boy lowered his head, holding a brush, quickly drawing patterns on a blank sheet.

Soon, this drawing was completed.

Black and white images, perfectly divided panels narrating a short story.

"Akaba, let me see! Let me see!"

"Don't disturb him. Wait until he finishes then we'll all watch together."

"Jiraiya you idiot, if you keep talking I'll kill you after class."

As this page finished, several children around him rapidly began arguing.

Of course,

In the end, Akaba ended up getting punched hard by a girl, and once again, the back rows fell silent.

After a while, the first class ended.

Akaba coughed a few times, threw the page toward them and said: "You guys look at it first. I need to rest for a moment."

Then, he coughed violently once more.

"Akaba, your body is too weak. You should train harder, or else how can you draw more comics?"

Said Jiraiya, quickly reaching out his hand. However, the manuscript was taken first by another pale-skinned boy with unexpectedly clean hands.

"Hahaha, you idiot Jiraiya!"

Thus, joyful laughter filled the classroom.

Akaba leaned against the wall, panting slightly, his vision blurry.

Before his eyes, a semi-transparent panel appeared.

Name: Sakuma Akaba

Ninja Rank: Not yet reached Genin

Physique: 3 ()

Spiritual Power: 34 ()

Preferred Chakra Nature: Yin

Equipment: Brush, Drawing Board

Skills: None

Points: 27

"It took me ages to finish that scroll, and all I got were these lousy points."

Half a month ago, he reincarnated from being an art student in the 21st century into Sakuma Akaba in the Naruto universe.

Although triggering the manga system while doodling random ninja stories was exciting at first, half a month had passed and he'd only accumulated 27 points.

He couldn't help but feel kind of down.

There wasn't much he could do about it though. As a kid, and given that manga didn't exist at all in this world, anything new needed time to catch on around here.

Fortunately, since the First Great Ninja War had just ended, Konoha now experienced a brief period of peace—enough time for Akaba to develop gradually.

However,

Even saying that, looking at his Physique value of merely 3 made him want to curse.

The characteristics of the Sakuma clan's Kekkei Genkai awakeners were extremely strong spiritual power, but extremely weak bodies.

Both traits applied fully to him. Except that his powerful spirit came from his reincarnation rather than innate ability, while his poor physical condition was genuinely bad.

To put it simply, he hadn't inherited the clan's bloodline limit, but still received the chronic weakness associated with the family. The good news was that with a bit more points, he could use the system to awaken the Five Senses Manipulation ability.

[Five Senses Manipulation]: A kekkei genkai inherited from the original family of the current body. Requires 30 points to awaken.

Precisely for awakening this bloodline limit that he had never spent his points carelessly until now.

"Oh? Several new options have appeared in the exchange list."

He just opened the exchange menu when immediately noticed several previously absent Ninjutsu techniques added.

Transformation Jutsu: D-rank Ninjutsu, requires 5 points.

Clone Jutsu: D-rank Ninjutsu, requires 5 points.

[Substitution Jutsu]: D-rank ninjutsu, requires 5 points.

[Sexy Jutsu]: Evolved from the Transformation Jutsu, requires 5 points.

[Shadow Clone Jutsu]: B-rank ninjutsu, requires 100 points.

"These few techniques appeared in the first volume of the manga. Does that mean I can exchange all the ninjutsu shown in my manga?"

Yes.

Akaba had just drawn was indeed the very first volume of *Naruto*.

Before his transmigration, he majored in Fine Arts. Creating original manga was difficult for him, but tracing or imitating? That came naturally.

Initially, he only wanted to test whether drawing could activate the Sakuma clan's Kekkei Genkai, but accidentally awakened this manga system instead.

For him, the manga system was like a lifesaver dropped from the sky. But why—why did it have to be *Naruto*?

Damn it, I'm already in the *Naruto* world, okay!

If not for the transmigration happening during Konoha Year 19, Akaba felt this system would've been useless.

Fortunately, at this current time, most characters from the early manga hadn't even been born yet, so no one thought these drawings represented actual futures.

At most, people would think:

"Your story's pretty wild, Akaba."

"Hahahah, the Hokage here looks super old!"

"Is this supposed to be the future?"

Exactly. To everyone else, these were merely Akaba's fantasies, transferred onto paper through his brush.

Including his teacher, Sarutobi Nennosuke.

"Akaba, it's great that you're using this format to tell stories, but I hope you can pay more attention during class."

Sarutobi Nennosuke had just finished teaching and walked over to talk with Akaba.

He'd said similar words dozens of times — ever since Akaba started drawing *Naruto* during class. Yet he never confiscated Akaba's pen or sketchbook.

"I understand, teacher. I'll be careful."

Akaba gave a tired-looking smile.

"Alright, class is about to start. Everyone stop looking now. Hand me the sketches and I'll return them after school."

Then, Sarutobi Nennosuke mercilessly collected a stack of illustrations.

"Uncle Sarutobi, I just got hold of it!"

The girl whose manga was taken pouted, her eyes brimming with tears.

With golden hair and red eyes, she looked extremely cute.

But her identity was terrifying.

Princess of the Senju clan, Tsunade.

"Little Tsunade, uncle will keep it just for a while. I'll give it back to you right after class."

Laughing, Sarutobi Nennosuke took the sketches back to the podium and began flipping through from the first page.

Akaba noticed that his points had increased slightly again.

However,

Didn't Nennosuke already give him a point earlier? Why another point this time?

That wasn't all.

A few minutes later, he successively gained two more points.

When Sarutobi finished the first volume, Akaba's points hit 31.

In total, this chūnin teacher had granted 5 points while reading the first volume.

"So does that mean higher-ranked ninja give more points?"

Akaba stared at the interface, secretly musing.

I can try this out with the clan members when I get home.

After all, the Sakuma clan hadn't produced any new Kekkei Genkai awakeners for many years, though there were no shortage of jōnin and chūnin within the clan.

If it's true that higher ninja ranks give more points, how many points could I get by selling this comic to the whole clan?

Just thinking about it gets me excited!

The class had already started, but Sarutobi Nennosuke didn't seem to notice.

He glanced around, then settled in with a look of deep satisfaction and flipped back to the first page to start reading again.

His classmates who hadn't had a chance to read yet were furious—especially Tsunade, whose fierce glare betrayed her anger.

Halfway through reading it for the second time, Sarutobi Nennosuke suddenly realized—Dang, class has started!

"Hm, but I can finally awaken my Kekkei Genkai now. Should I go ahead and exchange points for it?"

Akaba hesitated.

Once he exchanged the points, it would probably awaken immediately.

But compared to other clans, the awakening of the Sakuma clan's Kekkei Genkai didn't seem nearly as dramatic.

After a moment of thought, Akaba couldn't resist—he used 30 points to purchase "Five Senses Manipulation."

Point Balance Decreased by 30.

"Exchange successful."

"[Kekkei Genkai] Awakening has begun within your body."
