Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 22:"Imagination"

_Chapter begins_

"I am really back to this?"

William was no longer in the Judgment Realm, but he wasn't in Hell either... at least he thought he wasn't.

To William's surprise and annoyance, he was back to not existing, just like he had been when he first arrived in the Judgment Realm.

"...No."

It took William some time, but he eventually realized that what he was experiencing wasn't the same as the other time it had happened.

"No.... this is very different."

William did not have a physical body, just like he didn't the first time this happened.

But what he did have was his thoughts.

He could think, imagine, and have emotions.

Which meant that whatever was happening to him right now wasn't the same as before.

"Then.... what is this?"

William thought that he would be immediately taken to Hell, but it seemed like he was wrong.

"Wait a second...."

William tried to let out a deep sigh, but since he had no body and therefore no nose, it ended up just being a mental sigh.

"I am..... being judged right now?"

William knew that the realm of darkness that he had stayed in was a realm that was created to judge people on their morality and then send them to either Hell or Heaven.

But what William did not know was how exactly this process took place.

He wasn't foolish enough to think that his judgment would just pass by while he sat in darkness doing nothing.

"So I am about to be judged?"

He scoffed.... well at least he tried to.

"By who exactly am I going to be judged?!"

The answer seemed clear; it would probably be God who would judge his soul.

"Actually.... is the answer that clear?"

The answer was clear only if you took humanity's faith as the absolute truth.

Of course he would not do something like that.

Back when he had his talk with Adam, he had said that the cults called him "The Angel of Salvation," but then right after that he had said that he neither was an angel nor did he bring salvation.

So if the cults that dedicated their lives to learning about cosmic beings were wrong about what Adam was and what he brought....

Then what were the chances that humanity's imagination of how God was and how he acted were also the truth?

Very low, to say the least.

William tried to let out another sigh; of course he failed due to not having a body.

"I can't trust mundane logic so I basically have no base to build my theories..... I will have to gather information little by little and then build my theories from scratch."

To find the truths of how the cosmos worked without even having baseline information would be..... difficult or maybe even impossible.

"Huh, the more I think about it, the more I realize that Adam was correct in everything he said...."

Adam had told William that "it was funny how much knowledge he lacked about what was going on around him," and now William realized that.... yes, this statement was very much true, not just for him but for all of humanity.

Adam had also told William that to survive Hell he would need to gather as much knowledge and do it as fast as possible, and just like the previous statement William realized that this was also probably true.

"Gods am I stupid?"

He felt like laughing, but couldn't for obvious reasons.

"That guy is literally death in human skin, of course what he said would be correct."

As William was occupying himself with these thoughts, something finally happened.

Up to this point, William was actually able to see stuff.

Well.... not exactly.

He could think, which meant that he could also imagine.

So basically what William was seeing was.... his own imagination inside his mind.

So he had no idea where he actually was, because he only had a mind and no body, so he could only perceive his own imagination and nothing else.

He right now could be in the middle of Hell and he would have no idea because he simply couldn't perceive anything outside of his own imagination.

It was like there was a veil that covered reality from his eyes.

But the worst part about it was that unlike a regular veil, this veil was also impossible to perceive.

So when something changed inside his imagination, William would instantly know because he was the one to imagine it.

This time, however, it was not William's doing.

While William was thinking about Adam's words, he was also imagining himself sitting on a chair and drinking tea inside his old home that he was kicked from by his family.

Of course he did not imagine his family being there. Everything had been the same for a while, simply because William did not desire it to change.

But now there was a change.... and he wasn't the one that made it.

A short figure was standing just a few meters away from where William was sipping tea.

".....not again."

It did not take William long to realize that the figure was not human, and it also didn't take long for William to think that this figure was probably at the level of Adam.... or even above.

"Hello William, my name is Evelion."

William imagined lowering his head.

"Please.... please don't say it."

The figure smiled brightly.

"And I am a pillar of the universe, representing imagination."

The figure bowed slightly.

William imagined himself lowering his head even further down.

"God dammit."
