Chapter 24 - CHAPTER 24:"Prophecy"

_Chapter Begins_

William looked at Evelion with a dark expression on his pale face.

"Can you explain what that means exactly?"

William's voice was passive-aggressive, which was funny considering that it was directed at someone that could blink him out of existence if he really wanted to.

But William felt confident that Evelion wouldn't do that, because for what it seemed, Evelion had a very polite and joyless personality.

Of course William did not buy for a second that Evelion's true personality was like that, but it seemed that Evelion was very much determined to keep up his fake polite personality for some reason.

William was fine with this act of politeness, since it meant that Evelion wouldn't erase him from existence... for now.

Evelion put a hand on his forehead and let out a big sigh.

"Gods, I hate that I am always running on short time to explain complex things like this."

William's lip twitched.

"So he is on limited time?"

William barely contained a curse.

"Well there goes my ticket to limitless knowledge."

William shook his head.

"Well can you at least explain what you can before you have to leave?"

Evelion gave a weak smile and nodded.

"Where do I even begin...."

Evelion sighed and looked at William with no humor in his eyes.

"Everyone has the chains of fate around them, except for the gods and the pillars that govern the universe. This keeps a peaceful balance. However... human greed meets no bounds. At a certain time and in a certain place, an angel that fell from heaven and a sinner from hell will try to break their chains. In turn, both will fall to them."

There was a long stretch of silence.

Evelion gave out a strained smile.

"This is the prophecy that I managed to find after searching for it for so long."

Then to William's utter dismay, Evelion began to just slowly fade away.

"So I say this to you again, William."

Evelion was now barely visible, only his glowing golden eyes were still somewhat recognizable.

"I warn you... of fate."

Then he disappeared, and the room was once again left with just a single person who sat in deafening silence.

"What... what does that mean!"

William grabbed his head and barely held himself back from pulling his hair straight off his scalp.

There were just... too many questions.

It was like the more he dove into the madness of his situation, the more questions appeared.

"A fallen angel? A sinner from hell? The chains of fate?"

Did Evelion really think that William, who was just a normal person, would be able to solve this entire thing with just a vague prophecy?

William let out an angry-filled scoff.

"That bastard knew that he was on limited time, but still chose to waste that precious time with small talk!"

William was triggered to say the least, but he needed to regain his composure for two reasons.

One, was that he needed to start dissecting all the information that he got from talking with Evelion.

And the second reason was that without composure he couldn't maintain a straight mind, and without a straight mind he couldn't control his imagination.

Right now he was in a world that was created by his own imagination, so letting that imagination loose could cause a lot of damage—maybe not to his physical body but to his mind or even soul.

"So... there are indeed Gods."

That was the first piece of information that William had immediately noticed in Evelion's prophecy.

Gods did exist, or at least had existed at some point in time.

William had no good reason to think that the gods were dead, but there was also no reason for him to think that they were alive.

But, at least for right now... he would go with the theory that they were indeed alive.

"Except for the Gods and the pillars that govern the universe... huh."

So the Gods and the pillars of the universe are not controlled by fate.

That was... an interesting piece of information.

Before William could continue his dissection of the information, however...

Something happened.

The room around William started to warp all around him.

"Now what the hell is going on?"

William closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them again.

"Oh, I get it... my judgment is here."

And with that everything went black.

William was now truly back to not existing.

He had no physical body, no mind, no thoughts or feelings.

He was... nothing.

But somehow he was still something.

William did not know for how long he was in this state but he at least knew that it wasn't eternity, since at some point he came to be again.

The judgment of William's soul went by with such speed that it was like a blink.

But... so much happened in that singular blink.

William saw every single good action he had ever done and he also saw every bad action he had ever done.

He saw every time he made someone happy and he saw every time he had hurt somebody.

It was... a dizzying experience to say the least.

All these actions flashed in a blink of an eye, and yet it was also like an eternity.

But then William came to be.

His judgment was over and now he was being summoned to his final resting place.

Just like his body formed from nothing in the judgment realm, it did the same again.

A skeleton, then blood vessels sprawled out covering each inch of bone, and then came the muscles and organs, and then came the last details which finished off his new body.

It was nice to be alive.

He had this thought for just a split second before completely forgetting about it.

Because once he looked around at where he was...

Well... he had expected this but it still came as a grave surprise.

He was in Hell.

But this Hell looked much more different than he had expected.

"What is this place?"

William stood looking at the alien expanse around him.

William had expected Hell to be a lot of things...

However, what he did not expect was for Hell to be a giant expanse of shattered glass shards.
