Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 28:Family Reunion"

_Chapter Begins_

On an endless expanse of tall glass shards stood a terrifying wooden abomination.

Its maw was wide open, and the purple lights it used as eyes glowed with fury and... annoyance?

For some reason, the frightening abomination seemed unusually agitated—by something, or someone.

But what? Or who?

"Ahh... this is nice."

Well, it was probably the human currently hiding inside the abomination's eyes.

William was able to see through the eyes of the hideous monster, keeping himself updated on what was happening outside.

By his estimation, he had spent around six hours traveling with the wooden giant. Most of that time he had been... recovering.

Not from any physical wound—he currently had no physical body, as he was in a reflection.

No, these were wounds to his mind and his soul.

The wounds to his mind came from the twelve horrible deaths he had experienced while trying to escape the monster.

The wounds to his soul came from the many times he had been caught lacking while using his new ability.

Six hours was nowhere near enough time to recover from such ghastly wounds.

But truthfully, some of those wounds would never truly heal. They would remain as scars, constant reminders of what had happened.

William... was fine with that.

Collecting scars—both physical and mental—was part of being human.

But had a human ever gotten a scar to their very soul before him?

"Who am I kidding."

Of course there were. William wasn't special. Like everyone else, he had been sent to the same hell.

He was quiet for a moment, then let out a sigh.

"But... I am special, aren't I?"

Most of the things he had gone through were common enough for those who died and ended up in hell.

However, William was not so sure that getting possessed by a purple orb was a common experience.

Not to mention meeting two of the pillars of the universe face to face.

No... there was no way everyone had gone through that.

That made William special... and he hated it. He didn't want to be special in this situation.

There were only seven deadly sins, which probably meant only seven orbs.

And out of all the people who had died throughout history, William just happened to be the one who got one of them.

William let out a wistful chuckle.

"What can I say... I am truly favored by fate."

He was starting to understand Adam more and more.

"The ability to travel through reflections..."

There was one mystery that had been frustrating William for a while now.

Which of the seven deadly sins did he have?

He currently had only two clues.

The orb that embedded itself into him was purple, and the other clue was his new ability:

He could travel through reflections.

"Which sin would have that power?"

There was another way to figure it out—simply by looking at his own life.

It was only a theory, but William suspected the sins chose their hosts based on how well they represented them.

So throughout his life... which sin had William represented best?

It didn't take long for him to narrow it down to two.

"So... it's either Pride or Envy."

Those truly felt like the only options. Well, Greed wasn't a bad pick either.

But his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by what he saw through the monster's eyes.

His eyes widened.

No... no way...

He couldn't believe what he was looking at.

The wooden abomination had just spotted its next prey.

A young woman, about William's age.

She had long black hair, pitch-black eyes, and wore a simple black tunic ripped in several places.

It was a human—but more importantly...

"What's my sister doing here?!"

William immediately pulled himself out of the abomination's eyes and sprinted toward where his sister stood.

"And more importantly... why the hell has she grown her hair out?!"

He never thought he'd live long enough to see his sister finally grow her hair out.

But here he was—staring at exactly that.
