Chapter 13 - Chapter 11: A Grimoire??

After our victory, we walked towards the waiting room and celebrated during break time. All the participants took a break and walked around. Some of them were eating and also just chatting. Lunette and I went out of the waiting room to take a break while looking around the festival.

Lunette grabbed my hand and pulled me around the festival while saying, "Luna, let's explore!"

I just said, "Okay, but don't overdo it." I said with a tired tone. I can't help but walk with my body slightly hunchback forward due to the exhaustion.

As soon as we arrived at the entrance, we could see a lot of people gathered. It didn't seem like they were gathered for us, but there was someone standing in front of the entrance as if she was waiting for someone. That person was Big Sister Wave.

"Wow, Big Sister Wave," Lunette said while pointing at her with an excited tone. It looks like she found an interesting situation like finding a new toy.

She immediately pulled me excitedly and ran towards her without listening to what I said. From the start, Lunette was an overly enthusiastic person, sometimes she forgot to listen to other people's words. That wasn't a bad thing in my opinion, but I wish she could calm down a little.

We were almost at the entrance, but when Big Sister Wave was about to turn towards us, someone spoke to her. We stopped for a moment and watched them talk.

I just tilted my head and said with a curious tone, "Who?"

Lunette shook her head and said, "I don't know." But her smirk tells me that she's hiding something.

I guess we shouldn't bother her, it's not good to take a peek at other people's conversations. But Lunette seemed very curious. This time I had to be strict with her. Someone had to control her. Of course, we can't let her cause any trouble again, I dwear to myself to stop her no matter what happens.

I advised Lunette with a firm and strict tone, "We should wait first, they seem to be talking about something important."

Lunette just nodded and said, cutting me in the middle of the sentence, "You're right. Let's go!"

I was shocked and said, "You didn't hear me-"

Lunette had already run away before I could finish my sentence. She didn't hear me, it seemed like I failed. I didn't want to do the same thing so I just stood behind and waited. I'm so dumb. I know she won't hear me anyway, what did I expect? It feels like my role as her guardian, or rather her break was completely out of me.

Lunette ran and shouted, "Neon! Long time no see!"

Neon? What is she planning? Big Sis Wave turned to her and seemed to understand what Lunette meant.

She shouted while waving her hands, "Lunette! Long time no see! It's been 2 years since we met!"

Ah, so that's how it is. We would probably be surrounded by reporters if they knew we were the famous Neon's younger siblings. They pretended to be close friends like that. I could see Big Sister Wave putting his arm around Lunette's shoulder and acting like they were very close friends.

I just waited and watched them talk to each other. I didn't expect Lunette to be able to pretend so naturally. She looked so fluent without any gaps at all. The person who was talking to Big Sister Wave also seemed to accept her easily, maybe Lunette's attitude made him believe her easily.

A few minutes later, Lunette and Big Sis Wave turned to me and gestured for me to come closer. The reporters had already left with the person when they finished talking. I quickly came towards them.

Lunette said happily, "That was really fun."

Big Sister Wave walked over while patting her head and said, "You saved me this time, Lunette. I don't know how long I would have stood there if you hadn't come."

Personally, I think Big Sis Wave had been standing there for a long time. I'm not sure I could have done it in that position. What were they talking about? I was curious, but I didn't want to pry into her personal affairs.

Big Sister Wave patted my head and said, "Okay, let's go, Luna."

Go? Where?

Big Sister Wave continued as if reading my mind, "Of course, having a walk, don't look so surprised."

Ah, yes, we promised to spend our break together. We started walking around and trying out a few things. It turned out that the festival had a lot of things, like shops selling food, clothes, equipment, and even some selling magic tools. I was a little interested in it and I went to the shop that sold the magic tools.

I started to mutter to myself, "So there are many types of magic tools huh. Is this a book?"

The shopkeeper came out of nowhere and started talking, "It's called a grimoire, a book that can increase your magic abilities."

Ah, I see. I was a little confused about what he meant about increasing my magical abilities, and I was surprised to hear him answer my question because I was just mumbling a little. I didn't expect anyone to hear me mumbling.

The shopkeeper continued, "You seem confused, little miss."

It was true that I was confused about what he meant, but my feelings were more of embarrassment knowing that someone heard me mumbling to myself. Unlike Lunette, I was quite a shy person.

The shopkeeper laughed and explained, "What an interesting little miss, how about I explain this grimoire to you? Are you interested?"

I just nodded and said, "Yes, please explain in more detail."

The shopkeeper began to explain it enthusiastically, "Well, this book is no ordinary book. It can increase your magical abilities as I said before."

I nodded in understanding for now. He had said that before.

The shopkeeper continued his explanation while showing the grimoire, "What I mean by increasing your magic ability is that you can learn your abilities more deeply, you can get to know the characteristics of your magic more deeply. You can improve your attacks, create new attacks, or even control your magic more freely."

So that's it, he wanted to say that a grimoire was the right tool to learn more about my own magic. It's true, sometimes there are people who study magic, but haven't been able to fully master it. Maybe he wanted to say that the grimoire he was holding could make us master our magic more. I doubt the truth of that because I think mastering magic doesn't depend on books, but rather on the effort we put in.

In short, the book only shows our brain how to imagine things with our magic. We use our imagination to create magic, like we need to think about flame covering a sword to make a sword flame. Or maybe an ice pillar to make a pillar made from ice. Sometimes, the mages got stuck with their imagination and some of them decided to read the book to improve their imagination. But words can't tell them in detail so that's the reason why they put magic into the words so when the book is opened, the words come to our brain and show the visualization from the magic. These methods can make us learn the magic from other users, even if it means we use a different element or something like that.

He continued, "Although, the highest and strongest grimoire is the Book of Origin."

As usual, my trauma attacks me again. Gladly, I quickly regained my composure. I can't make someone worry about me in public. I need to stay strong! Again, the Book of Origin. Why does everyone keep talking about that book? Everyone is so interested in that book, but that book only brings chaos to this world. Only if that book didn't exist, maybe… Just maybe there is a small chance to…

The shopkeeper smiled as if he could read my mind, "You're right, little miss. Mastering magic depends on our efforts. This book only helps us to master it and we still have to try."

I was shocked when I heard that from him. How could he know my thoughts? Could he read my mind? It made me shiver a little.

The shopkeeper said again while laughing, "Don't be afraid. How about you try it? I'll show you how."

The shopkeeper handed me a piece of paper. Although hesitant, I took the paper from him with my right hand. What did he want to do?

I asked him, "What should I do?"

The shopkeeper said, "Flow your mana into the paper you're holding, then your magic skill will be written and will immediately stick in your brain."

I nodded and did what he asked. Flowing mana into the paper, I could feel something flowing from my body. Once I finished doing it, the paper seemed to appear with writing that I didn't understand. I see, this is what he meant by 'the magic ability will be written' on the paper.

I waited until the point where he said it would stick to my brain. However, instead of sticking to my brain, once it was written the paper immediately burned itself.

The shopkeeper was shocked and said in confusion, "That's weird, you should have learned the ability immediately."

Did I fail? Maybe I missed some important step? I didn't understand what went wrong. Confusion was visible on my and the shopkeeper's faces. We looked at each other in confusion.

He said to me, "Well, there are cases like this. Maybe the paper wasn't able to accommodate the mana you have, little miss."

I just said in confusion, "O-oh, okay, thank you for teaching me."

As I was about to leave, the shopkeeper called out to me and stopped me, "Wait, a moment, little miss."

I stopped and looked at him, "What's wrong?"

The shopkeeper held a book and offered it to me, "If you want, I can give you this."

I just stared at the book in silence, it was a grimoire like the one I saw in the shop, but smaller.

I shook my head and said, "No, thank you. I don't have that much money with me."

The shopkeeper laughed and said, "I didn't say I was selling it to you, I said I was giving it to you."

He seemed very excited when he said that. He was truly an energetic uncle. His words and actions always surprised me.

"No need, I feel bad accepting it for free," I replied reluctantly.

The shopkeeper then said, "It's okay, I insisted. If you're that reluctant, then I want you to perform at this festival with even more excitement, Luna."

I was shocked when I heard that. How did he know my name? I didn't remember introducing myself to him. No one around me called my name either.

The shopkeeper smiled and said, "I support Tyone Academy, so I know your name. Your performance just now was great. I didn't expect a shy little lady like you to be able to use such great magic."

My face blushed slightly and said, "Not really, my magic isn't something that great."

He continued, "Not really, it's rare for people to have elemental magic. So, will you take this grimoire for me?"

I nodded slightly and accepted his gift, "Okay, thank you, uncle."

I walked away from the shop and realized that I was separated from Big Sister Wave and Lunette. I guess I got lost again as usual. Did they realize that I was left behind? Or maybe they were looking for me? Whatever it is, I should meet up with them soon.
