Scarlet returned to the mansion without Charlotte and she didn't care how she would get home either , she stepped out of the carriage and didn't stop until she was in her room .
' Scarlet my dear what's wrong , why are you crying and where's your sister... didn't she come back with you ' her mother asked outside her door .
' I really don't care where she is right now , she has taken Henry away from me Mother ' Scarlet said teary .
' Why would you say that my dear ,she is your sister and maybe you should understand that Henry likes your sister more than you ' her mother said with a disheartening voice .
' Mother you're on her side now , but why ? ' she sobbed as she angrily made a tantrum in her room .
' Scarlet please stop this foolishness , you shouldn't have left your sister there . I'll have to tell Jerome to go and get her , am really disappointed in you today ' her mother said as she stepped away from her door .
Lady Lucy didn't like the fact that Charlotte had managed to gain the affection of the future Duke of Woodville while her daughter was left heartbroken like this . So instead of going to inform the coachman she went to the drawing room .
A while later Henry brought Charlotte home , they had spent time in each other's company and lost track of time . Charlotte didn't know why her sister had left her but didn't bother asking why .
The next morning the Alvarez mansion was met with an unexpected visit from the council, they had all gathered in the living room alongside two councilmen .
' Mr and Mrs Alvarez , forgive us for the early intrusion but we have important news to deliver to you all ' One of the councilmen broke the silence with a stern gaze .
' I understand councilman Damien , please tell us what has brought you here ? ' Mr Alvarez replied with a horrified gaze behind his calm demeanor .
' Of course , we have been sent by the Duke and the council to inform you all that among all the ladies in Woodville your daughter , Lady Scarlet Eduard Alvarez has been choosen to be wed by the lord of Willow Creek as a marriage of truce between the humans and werewolves ' There was deep silence that followed as the Alvarez family tried to wrap up their heads around what had just been said .
' The Lord Xavier will be here to escort her there in a few days to come , and she will live there for three months or less before the engagement . And within a month she will be married to him and alas the feud will end bringing about peace and harmony across the lands' the man explained casually .
Mr Alvarez had never entertained the thought that one of his daughters would be the one to be sacrificed .
' What nonsense is this ? ' Lady Lucy asked as she held the shocked and terrified Scarlet. A marriage between a human and a werewolf was nothing but a nightmare .
' Mind your tongue Lady Lucy , disrespecting the council or it's decision is a serious offence ' the other councilman who had been quiet all this time said with a warning tone in his voice .
' Please accept my apology on her behalf, Councilman Rhodes . My wife is just too shocked with the news that's all ' Mr Alvarez quickly apologized to the Councilman .
' It would be wise if you accept this quietly for the sake of peace and longevity , the lord of Willow Creek will be here to pick her up in three days so you must prepare yourselves ' Councilman Damien added .
' Isn't there anything else we can do for this not to happen to our daughter ?' Lady Lucy asked with a little bit of hope .
' There isn't since the King himself has approved of this , he wishes for peace to befall on all his lands ' Councilman Rhodes replied coldly .
The King was the one who controlled the three lands of Woodville, Willow Creek and Elythwind .
' I don't accept this marriage , I will not go to Willow Creek . I won't die in the hands of those beasts ' Scarlet declared before she ran to her room and shut her door with a bang ! .
' Councilman Alvarez am confident you know the penalty of going against the council and worst of all the king's decision , I hope you're all prepared to be beheaded tomorrow at the town square ' said councilman Rhodes without any warmth or sympathy in his black eyes as he stood up ready to leave .
' Mr Rhodes I don't think we should come to this , maybe we can come to an agreement of some sort ... ' Lady Lucy stood up and tried to bargain as beads of sweat formed on her forehead .
' There's nothing left to talk about , you have two days to decide if not then the entire Alvarez household along with all it's servants will be executed upon trial , have a good day ' Councilman Damien replied with no hint of sympathy for the family .
' Thank you my fellow councilman , I promise we will oblige . Come I'll see you out ' Mr Eduard said as he escorted the men out .
Lady Lucy fell back to the plush couch with a heavy sigh , she didn't know how things had escalated this much . If only the Duke's son hadn't yet proposed to Charlotte maybe just maybe she would have made her go instead .
' Mother what are we going to do now ? ' Scarlet asked with a horrified look , Lady Lucy glared at Charlotte as if she was the reason for all this. She stood up and left the living room with a grim look . Scarlet too left .
' Come Charlotte your Mother is stressed right now try to understand her actions ' her Grandmother said .
' I know Grandmother and I understand why Mother is acting this way too ' Charlotte replied with a smile before she excused herself .
' That girl needs to understand that she has to agree to this whether she likes it or not for our sake ' Lady Debbie clicked her tongue
' Seems you still haven't learnt anything even after all these years , Debrah ' the old lady sighed as she shook her head in disappointment .
