When the day of the soiree came , the two daughters of Mr Alvarez were all dressed up to spend the evening at the Duke's mansion .
Charlotte wore a green floral dress with golden embroidery with lacey long sleeves and a round neckline . She had tied her hair into a bun while the front was braided on either sides like a crown , it was pinned securely . A simple makeup too
While her sister had worn a striking red floral dress with a deep neckline and an exposed back , it fit her body perfectly with half crossed sleeves and a pair of lacey black gloves .
Her hair was tied in a loose bun pinned with beautifully and her makeup was no less too . Needless to say she was dressed to impress and seduce .
' Scarlet isn't that a little over the top for your age ' her grandmother questioned and Mr Alvarez couldn't agree more .
' No it isn't because am old enough to look this way ' Scarlet replied as a matter of fact .
' Go and change that dress or else you won't be going to the soiree ' Her father said in an authoritative tone .
' Eduard don't ruin this for her , our daughter just turned into a woman let her have some fun ' Lady Lucy tried to persuade her husband sweetly and Eduard being weak when hit with his wife's sweet charms gave up and left the living room .
' Now you both go and have fun , Scarlet you look beautiful as always ' Lady Lucy smiled victoriously while Charlotte waited for her Mother to compliment her too but it never came .
With a sad smile Charlotte got into the carriage after her sister , the ride to the Duke's mansion was filled with laughter as the two sisters chatted , but their smiles were with different aims .
Charlotte smiled and laughed with pure love for her sister while Scarlet laughed and smiled at the plan she had in stored for the Duke's son.
When the carriage arrived at the mansion there were other carriages too that had arrived before theirs , Charlotte and Scarlet both made their way inside and towards the back of the mansion where the soiree was .
' Charlotte my dear , it's so nice to see you here ' said a sweet voice of a woman who approached them . It was none other than the Duchess of Woodville and Henry's mother , Lady Claire .
' It's nice to see you too Lady Claire , you look lovely tonight ' Charlotte complimented the brown haired woman who seemed to be in her late forties but still looked young and healthy .
' Charlotte always a sweetheart ' lady Claire chuckled before her eyes fell on Scarlet and a disapproving look passed through her eyes but quickly disappeared without a trace as if it had been someone's imagination .
' Scarlet you look... striking , nice to see you here too' Lady Claire commented before she turned her gaze to Charlotte warmly .
' My dear let's go , Henry's been waiting for you he's almost going to throw a tantrum am afraid ' Lady Claire said and Charlotte could only imagine Henry's pouting face .
Charlotte made her way to where Henry was seated alongside Lady Claire while Scarlet decided to mingle with other people , she made heads turn wherever she passed or glanced .
Scarlet was naturally beautiful but tonight she looked hot and fiery most young men were drawn to her and Charlotte loved every moment of it.
' Henry I can't believe you , we haven't been apart for that long and you want to be with me this much ' Charlotte whispered in disbelief while Henry held her hand in his .
' I don't know why this is happening but I guess it's because I just can't get enough of you ' Henry said close to her neck making the young woman blush .
' You are such a charmer young master Rhune ' Charlotte chuckled though she still liked his charms .
' You are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes upon Charlotte and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you to love , cherish and take care . You complete me and I would want nothing more than you ' Henry confessed as he kissed the back of her hand while staring at her .
' Oh Henry what did I do to have you in my life , when I look into your eyes I feel secure,that my heart is in a better place .
You're smile promises me happiness , assurance and that your are mine to love and shower all my attention and care ' Charlotte said with a deep emotion .
' Charlotte I promise I will make you happy and love you with all my heart .
Let me go and get a present I had , made especially for you ' Henry excused himself and headed back inside the mansion to his study .
Scarlet who had been observing everything Henry was doing spotted him going into the mansion from were she stood with a few acquaintances before excusing herself and slipping into the mansion .
Henry stepped into his study and walked over to his drawers looking for something , Scarlet knocked and slipped inside before locking the door behind her .
Henry sensing someone's gaze lifted his head up and saw Scarlet , he was a bit shocked by her appearance but quickly got over it .
' Lady Scarlet so nice to see you here , how have you been ? ' he asked as he took out a small black box .
' Henry how long have we been friends ? ' she asked as she took slow steps towards him .
' Friends , I guess for twelve years or so . Am not really sure ' Henry replied thoughtfully .
' Listen Scarlet can we catch up a bit later , I need to go to Charlotte ' Henry tried to politely brush her off .
' Then why did you choose her over me , I was the first one you became friends with and I always knew we had something going on.... I know you felt it too Henry and so why are you going to marry her ' Scarlet asked accusingly .
' Scarlet I think you misunderstood me , but I've never considered anything other than friendship between us , forgive me if I led you on but am in love with Charlotte and am going to marry her too ' Henry tried to apologize but it was of no use .
' Friendship ? , I never asked for your friendship because I wanted you to love me and I do too . Please give me a chance Henry, to show you how much you mean to me ' Scarlet said as she wrapped her hands around him . Pressing on to him seductively .
Henry stood without moving and stunned , he never expected Scarlet would do anything like this . He tried to gently push her but she wouldn't budge , he was growing impatient with every minute .
' Please stop this , if anyone sees us like this then they might misunderstand us . Scarlet I can't give you what you're asking me for , I truly love your sister ' Henry pushed her away with urgency .
' Henry please , I love you... I can give you anything you want ' Scarlet said as she slowly undid her dress revealing and exposing her skin and her body to Henry .
She let it fall and stood in front of him half naked before she attempted to kiss him but Henry rejected her kiss his anger vivid on his handsome face .
' Out of all the things I knew about you , I never knew you could be this pathetic and foolish ' he spat .
'I hate pathetic people and you better not repeat this or try to ruin my relationship with your sister or else you will see the side of me that you will regret seeing ' Henry warned coldly before he unlocked the door and stepped out of the room .
Scarlet felt heartbroken and humiliated , she had hoped to charm and seduce Henry with her looks but she had failed miserably . Her knees gave way and she fell on the ground with angry and hopeless tears falling from her eyes .
She had lost to her sister , Henry couldn't be swayed by her looks and clearly had never felt any attraction towards her like he did with her sister .
She quickly got dressed and left the Duke's mansion in the carriage she came with along with her sister . She was too angry and humiliated to care about how her sister would get home .
