By now the news about the marriage of truce had already spread across Woodville and Willow Creek too . Some were happy that there was a chance for peace while others were angry since they wanted to fight and eliminate the werewolves to the death.
Everyone pitied the Alvarez but were also preparing for the grand wedding that was going to take place between the Duke's son and Lady Charlotte Alvarez .
For the sake of her family and her peace of mind , Scarlet agreed but had a sneaky plan in mind . She recalled the witch Lady June had mentioned and asked her to take her there ..maybe something could be done and help her with the situation she was in after all.
Scarlet didn't tell anyone where she went , it was almost midnight when she tiptoed out of the mansion where just outside the gate Lady June waited for her in her carriage .
' Scarlet am glad you made it ' Lady June breathed a sigh of relief as she held Scarlet's hands together . She tapped the the small window that separated them from the coachman . And on que the carriage rolled away from there.
' This witch , will she really be able to help me ? ' Scarlet asked as she looked out the window her brown eyes hollow .
' She's a powerful black witch , of course she will be able to help you ' Lady June replied with a reassuring smile .
The carriage passed down a rocky road in the woods and come to a halt in front of a fallen tree .
' Come we have to walk from here ' Lady June stepped out of the carriage with the help of her coachman and so did Scarlet .
' You stay here , wait until we come back ' Lady June took hold of the small lantern from the man and led the way deeper in the woods.
' June , won't we get lost in here ' Scarlet asked as she tried to be brave , the trees were tall and dark , crickets could be heard along with the howling of the owls perched on the branches .
Scarlet tried so hard to ignore the eerily feeling that something or someone was watching them .They stopped in front of a small old house that had thick vines and creepers around it as if nobody lived there.
The door was slightly ajar , with little light coming out of it . ' This is where she lives ' Lady June said as they moved closer to the door .
Before they could knock a raspy voice came from inside the small house , allowing them to enter .
The house looked worse inside than how it did outside , it was dusty , cramped , and creepy . Only a few candles were lit , some on the shelves where there were jars with strange things in them .
Close to the small window there was a table with a glowing crystal ball on it , behind the table there sat an old woman dressed in black she stared up at them without a trace of warmth in her hollow black eyes .
' Miss Clifton back again I see , was the potion not efficient ? ' the witch questioned with familiarity .
' It was more than just efficient , it did wonders for me ' Lady June replied with a half sided smile on her face .
' What potion June and what did you do with it ?' Scarlet questioned as she stared at her .
' The pot that doesn't stir for you isn't yours to brew Lady Alvarez ' the witch spat .
' How did you know my name ? ' chills ran down her spine as she heard the old woman .
' I know everything about you and why you are here today " the witch casually replied as she ran her bony hands on the crystal ball .
' You_u know , so there is something you can do to help me right ? ' hope filled Scarlet's heart as she stared at the old witch .
' I can and there is but with a heavy price you must pay to get what your heart desires ' the witch said her words holding a hidden motive .
Scarlet swallowed hard as she replayed the words in her head , what heavy price should she pay .
' what is the price I should pay ? ' she asked with a brave face and hopeful eyes .
' That is all I wanted to hear , Miss Alvarez ' the witch's response sounded pleased by her .
' I will give you a potion that will help you change your dark fate and turn it brighter than any star ' the witch chuckled as she took out a small vial that had a greenish liquid inside .
' Anything that you desire , will be yours... your sister's beautiful life and happiness will be yours just give her a drop of this for two days before the day to be taken to Willow Creek .
On that night everything will be as you wish , your dear sister will lose consciousness and wake up in your place .
' Just a few drops and all you desire will be yours ' the witch added as she handed the vial to Scarlet whose whole being shook in fear .
' Whe_when I use this on my sister , will she be...? ' Scarlet tried to ask determined not to hurt her sister .
' This potion has no effect , don't worry it won't harm her in any way ' the witch lied between her teeth and Scarlet believed her lies .
' After you marry the Duke's son , you will have to give me your first birth as the price for changing your fate . This is my wish ' the witch heartlessly demanded with a toothy grin .
' My_y first child , why would you want him ? ' chilling shiver ran through her at the thought of handing over her own child to the witch .
' I can't.... can't do that , what will you do with him '? Scarlet could feel a slight headache as she stared at the old woman whose gaze had narrowed slightly at Scarlet .
Lady June held Scarlet's shoulders and made her face her , ' Scarlet this is the only chance you've got to save yourself from that werewolf lord , it's only one child and you can keep the rest my dear '
Scarlet stared at her friend in disbelief , she wasn't and couldn't be that heartless to her own child but she didn't want to end up with the werewolves .
' If you're too scared to do it , I suggest you both leave ' the witch coldly said as June tried to persuade Scarlet to accept the witch's wish .
A lifetime in a the arms of a werewolf lord cold and distant was far worse than giving up her child to the witch . Maybe in the future she would try and outsmart the witch .
With a heavy and burdened heart Scarlet helplessly agreed to the witch's wish , she was going to steal her sister's life and get back what was rightfully hers .
Scarlet took out a small pouch filled with gold coins and gave it to the witch whose eyes sparkled .
After the two women left the witch let out a hearty laugh , the potion she had given Scarlet had the deadliest poison across the lands and the antidote was the blood from the poison king's heart and nobody knew where he was .
She almost felt sad for the poor girl who was unknowingly going to poison her own sister, she stared at the crystal ball and Charlotte could be seen sleeping soundly .
Scarlet managed to get back to the mansion before dawn , she soaked herself in her bathtub letting the words the witch had said to her sink in .
There was no turning back , she was going to take her sister's place right before her eyes just the way she took Henry from her .
An eye for an eye and a life for her life .
