' Clean everything and change every curtain ,leave everything spotless and dry any mistake today is a one way ticket to being disciplined and kicked out ' the head maid gave out strict orders to the maids who were busy scrubbing the floors, dusting and cleaning the whole mansion with all their might.
Lady Lucy along with Lady Deborah stood on the staircase watching the maids and servants work .
' Who would have thought that this day would come so soon , our little Scarlet off and away to a foreign land with those...things ' Lady Deborah said with a distaste look in her brown eyes .
' It's sad but let's look at the bright side she will live in luxury with all the fame and status she wants ' there was an indifferent look in her eyes as if she wasn't worried what would happen to her favorite daughter , lady Lucy commented .
Lady Deborah's eyes widened for a moment too long not expecting her sister-in-law to be so passive about her daughter's engagement to the night creature .
' I didn't expect you to accept the truth so easily but you're right our family will gain a lot from this alliance ' Lady Deborah remarked.
' What can I do or say when some things are better left unsaid ' Lady Lucy said before she climbed down the stairs and headed to the kitchen .
The words said by Lady Lucy sounded like a confusing riddle with an underlaying meaning she couldn't crack .
A while later when the maids went to wake up Scarlet who hadn't woken up yet they found her deep in sleep , they tried everything to wake her up but she still didn't wake up . Panic settled in them as they informed the family members .
' Call the physician now ! ' Mr Eduard ordered as a frown settled on his face ,the whole family turned worried hoping she hadn't taken poison .
When the physician arrived he was quickly escorted to Scarlet's room .
' I would like to examine her alone , please step out of the room ' he said and everyone stepped out of the room.
When he was done he stepped out of the room and was bombarded with questions from each side .
' How is she ? ' , ' Has she taken poison Mr Ruphuel ? ' .....
' She is fine there's nothing to worry much about but she is in a temporary comatose state and will wake up in two or three days ' the middle aged man explained.
' The only thing you can do now is wait patiently ' he added.
' A temporary coma ? , how and...why ' Scarlet's Grandmother asked worry still marred on her face .
' This kind of condition is often caused by overweighed stress , fear and sorrow ' the man replied calmly before he left escorted out by the butler .
' Why did this have to happen today , of all the days . What are we going to tell the lord when he gets here ? ' Lady Lucy asked as she pressed her temples .
' We will have to tell him the truth, maybe he will listen and wait for her to wake up before taking her away ' Mr Eduard suggested thoughtfully .
' You might be right but where is Charlotte,doesn't she care about her sister anymore? ' Lady Deborah asked .
' She hasn't been feeling well for the past few days , you should have known if you were her Aunt who cared about her ' for the first time ever Lady Lucy spoke up for Charlotte everyone was left without words .
' So now you know that because she will be of her status as the next Duchess ' came the comment from Mr Alvarez's sister .
' I have had enough of you two , bickering even at a time like this ! ' Mr Alvarez stated as he stared at his wife and sister disapprovingly .
Later that day
Just as the family was having their breakfast the butler hurriedly approached Mr Alvarez and whispered something to him which in turn made his eyes widen in fear and shock .
' Eduard what's wrong , you look pale as a ghost ' Lady Lucy commented .
He dismissed the butler and turned to his wife ' He is here_the lord's entourage is at the gates ' .
Everyone's face turned pale at the thought that the lord was there earlier than expected . But unbeknownst to them it wasn't the lord who had come but his right hand .
' How come he his this early when he was supposed to arrive here later in the evening?' everyone's mind held questions that no one knew the answer to .
' We have to go and greet him by the door and welcome him then ' Lady Magreth suggested who was Scarlet's grandmother.
Councilman Alvarez nodded in agreement with his Mother's words , ' Mother is right this is the best we can do for now ' .
The family members of the Alvarez household made their way at the entrance to welcome the Lord , a man who looked like he was in his thirties dressed in a grey suit followed by guards stepped in .
At the same time Charlotte who had been in her room stepped out and climbed down the stairs with a dull gaze in her brown eyes . Her eyes met with the ones that belonged to the Lord's right hand , which were grey and cold .
Gilielmo could feel a strong black witch's magic from her aura , he knew something was up with this family but didn't let it show .
' It's a pleasure having you here my lord ' Mr Alvarez said .
' Thank you for gracing us with your presence Milord ' Lady Lucy commented but the man remained silent .
After a long pause he finally replied. 'The pleasure is not mine , but am here so let's get this over with just bring the lady and we'll be on our way ' he simply said as he settled on the long couch with crossed legs . While his guards stood in opposite to him .
' Lord Baulderaiv my daughter isn't feeling well today hence she might be a bother to you on your way to the creek , I suggest that you rest up today and leave with her tomorrow when she's in better condition ' Mr Alvarez tried to explain .
' Councilman Alvarez with all due respect, bring the lady so we can leave this place this instant ' Gilielmo remarked with a serious gaze in his stormy eyes .
' Milord please hear us out , she is not well please let her get better first then she will go with you tomorrow ' Lady Magreth tried to reason out with the young man.
' If I don't return tonight or by dawn , you and your entire household will be beheaded by order of the king so what will it be ? ' he asked .
' One sacrifice for the lives of many or many sacrificed for one who will also be slaughtered for one wrong decision ' he added coldly .
' Wha_what that is not fair , why should we die because of her ? ' Charlotte who had been quiet all this time suddenly spoke .
' Father let him take her , or do you want us all to die and be labeled as traitors ' She added .
' Charlotte how could you say that , she is your sister '
' She won't die if she goes there Father but we will if she doesn't ,please save us from humiliating deaths . I don't want to die Father' tears poured from her eyes as she tried to convince her father .
Mr Alvarez looked troubled and torn between his responsibility as a father , a husband and a son .
' Alfred send the maids to Scarlet's room, prepare her for the Lord ' Charlotte ordered and the butler just nodded .
Mr Alvarez knew it was wrong to sacrifice his daughter but he had no choice , the price was heavy if he didn't .
' Now there's someone who wants live ' Gilielmo chuckled darkly .
No one said a thing as Scarlet was carried out of her room and put in the Lord's carriage .
' Please reconsider this my Lord , she is in a temporary coma ' lady Magreth said as the man stood up from the couch .
' What's done is done , she will be fine Lady Magreth . I will personally make sure of that ' he replied .
' Well it has been fun but , the time is not in our hands nor on your heads anymore , we will take our leave now ' he bowed curtly before stepping out of the mansion and into the carriage with the guards outside on their horses .
Everyone sadly retired to their rooms leaving Charlotte staring at the carriage that was leaving the gates .
A small victorious smile on her lips , she had won the battle this time and her sister was taken and defeated too .
