Before Seojin was completely controlled by his negative emotions, Valentin grabbed his waist and pulled him away from the prison cell. Maybe he shouldn't have brought the kid with him. He knew that the male lead wouldn't be able to accept the fact that his uncle was alive again. It would have meant that his long-planned revenge was for nothing.
"Why are you stopping me? Can't you see that he's mocking my parents?" Seojin yelled as he slapped away Valentin's hand.
"That's enough, we should return home," Valentin said.
"I'm not going back until I kill them all!" Seojin's face turned red in anger. Why did the judge stop him from doing what he wanted to do?
"Do you want to end up in prison like you did in your past life? What's the point of your revenge if you end up being a criminal?" Valentin mouthed the words, making sure that no one but Seojin would hear.
Seojin suddenly calmed down and dropped his head. He knew that the judge was right, but he just couldn't let go of his grudges and hatred.
"Instead of giving them an easy death, just let them rot in prison. If you want, I can make sure that they are being tortured harder," Valentin added.
Seojin smiled weakly. Maybe it was the right way to punish them. He could almost hear his parents telling him not to do the rash things he did in his past life. What was the point in doing his revenge if he was going to die himself? He couldn't be selfish because he knew that his body belonged to the Seojin in this timeline. He was only an embodiment of the kid's past life. Maybe it was time to let go of his thirst for murder and let the kid choose what he wanted to do with his life.
When they arrived home, Seojin rushed to his bedroom to rest. He needed time to think things through and think of a way to regain his memories. Should he just bump his head on the wall, just like they do in the dramas? Maybe if he hurt his head again, he would be able to remember everything.
At night, Valentin received a call from Nikolai.
'That's unexpected. Why would he call me?' Valentin thought. Normally, it was Winter who contacted him if they ever needed his help. The judge didn't want to have too many interactions with Nikolai since it could hurt Seojin. And, he didn't really like the assassin with pink hair. He sometimes freaks him out with his crazy personality. Winter seems to be getting along with him, though.
"Hi, what is it?" Valentin asked.
"Always cold, huh?" Nikolai joked. "Anyways, I have something big to tell you. You should keep Seojin somewhere safe. Someone contacted the organization and placed an order to kill Seojin. The price reward is quite high. Since I promised not to hurt Seojin, I declined the offer."
"Who is it?" Valentin asked. It must be the same man who visited Mr. Han in prison. Why was he on the move after all this time? It has been months since he sentenced Seojin's uncle to life in prison.
"I don't know. You should be careful these days. There are a lot of other assassin organizations out there. I'm sure the prize money has tempted a lot of them."
Valentin sighed. Just who in the world would be after Seojin? Didn't they already take care of everyone who was related to the murder case? What if there was someone else behind the murder of Seojin's parents? It was never mentioned in the novel that there were other suspects.
[Ding! Your next mission has arrived.
Mission: Find out the real mastermind behind the murder case and protect Seojin.]
"Can you keep Seojin safe? I'll pay," Valentin said. He didn't want Seojin's daily life to be disrupted. It didn't seem right to lock him inside the house just to keep him safe. He was certain that the male lead wouldn't like that either. Besides, the assassins would get them even if they were hidden in the house, just like the two assassins who were after Seojin.
"Of course, I was waiting for this. We will make sure that they won't touch a single strand of Seojin's hair. It'll just cost a small fortune," Nikolai snickered. He had been waiting for Valentin to ask for their service. They had gained a small wealth thanks to the judge. There was no way that he would let this big shark get away.
"Money is not a problem. Just give me a reasonable price."
"How about 1 billion?" Nikolai joked, intentionally saying a high price.
Suddenly, his phone beeped, sending a notification that he had received 500 million dollars in his bank account. Nikolai gasped in surprise. He was just joking, but the judge had already wired the money to him.
"I'll send you the other half when you complete your mission."
"No problem, we won't disappoint you!"
Valentin ended the phone call. To be honest, he was still a bit worried. What if their enemy was as strong as Dr. Milo? What if the assassins they sent also had superpowers? The judge pushed his worried thoughts aside. Maybe his concerns were too much. Winter and Nikolai were already one of the best assassins of the country, and he had Kaito. If anything went wrong, he could always teleport Seojin to somewhere safe.
"Tch," the man in black robes clicked his tongue as he returned to his secret base. That assassin organization would pay for not taking his request. How could they do that after they failed to complete their duties? They were supposed to kill Seojin, too, along with his parents. He was kind enough to offer them all his wealth for them to fulfill their mission.
The man dropped on his chair and thought, 'Well, there were so many assassins in the world. He was certain that they would rush to him after they saw the generous reward.
