Chapter 45 - Amnesia

When he arrived at the hospital, it was already crowded with people who were injured because of the tsunami. The doctors and the nurses ran in the hallways, trying to attend to every patient.

Since Valentin was the son of the director of Haneul Hospital, Seojin received immediate treatment. The doctors guessed that the kid had a concussion and told Valentin that there was nothing to worry about. After bandaging Seojin's head and putting him on a hospital bed, the doctors rushed to the other patients.

Valentin rested by the male lead's side and blamed himself for not properly protecting Seojin. He should've stayed by his side when the tsunami hit him. The judge held on to Seojin's big hand and watched outside the window.

It was chaotic. The hospital was crowded with ambulances that arrived from Pohang, where the tsunami had invaded the coast. The roads were filled with police cars and firefighters, trying to regulate circulation. The tsunami had hit the city of Pohang hard. There were a lot of injuries, but weirdly, there wasn't a single death yet. Normally, with an unexpected natural disaster like that, there would be a lot of deaths. The tsunami's waves were higher than expected. It would take some time for the city of Pohang to be rebuilt.

During Seojin's hospitalization, Valentin had been taking care of him every day. He had never taken care of someone before. At first, it was difficult to wash Seojin's body and change his clothes sometimes. But as days passed, Valentin had become an expert. There was only one problem. Why was the kid still unconscious? Wasn't it supposed to be a small head injury? Why were his eyes still closed?

"Why hasn't he woken up yet?" Valentin asked the doctor worriedly. If there were something wrong with the kid, he would never forgive himself for leaving him alone.

The doctor shook his head and said, "He is in perfect health. We checked him again, and there's nothing wrong with him. It might be because he hurt his head, so it's taking him more time to wake up."

Valentin sighed and sat down in his chair again. He could only wait. It has already been 2 weeks since Seojin was in a coma. Washing Seojin's body with a wipe has been part of the judge's routine. The hospital was still as busy, but it had calmed down a bit.

The people living in Pohang had to relocate somewhere else for some time. The Vronsky family has been a large contributor to the reconstruction of the destroyed city. The citizens of Pohang were deeply grateful for their donation. Valentin also donated some money to the hospital for the people who had trouble paying their hospital bills. The Haneul Hospital had a special program for that, and Valentin decided to donate a few billion each year. Valentin's parents were busy, but they were proud of their son. He had grown a lot.

Seojin was still in a deep slumber. His dark eyebrows flinched as he dreamed of the traumatic day when his parents died. Everything was red in his vision. Then, the dream quickly shifted to the day he murdered someone for the first time. His bloody hands trembled, but his blue eyes stayed firm. He had to stay strong to execute his revenge. It was not the time for him to be weak.

Then, flashes of cameras blinded him. It was the day he had been caught by the police. The police station was filled with reporters and people who cursed him. Seojin glared at them in anger. He knew that murder wasn't the right thing to do, but the people he killed deserved it. If he didn't kill them with his own hands, how could he face his dead parents? Seojin closed his eyes tiredly. He had finally killed those filthy people. Now, he could finally rest in peace. It was a shame that he wouldn't be able to join his parents in heaven.

Suddenly, a familiar voice woke him up from his slumber. Why did the voice sound so annoying? Seojin groaned and opened his eyes. Wasn't he supposed to be dead? Where was he?

"Seojin, you have finally woken up. How are you feeling?" Valentin asked and tried to help him sit up.

Seeing that familiar face, Seojin slapped the disgusting hand away and said, "Weren't you supposed to be dead?"

Seojin glared at the cowardly judge with his cold blue eyes. How shameless of him to appear in front of him.

"What are you saying?" Valentin asked, confused. Why was Seojin's gaze filled with anger and hate?

Seojin glanced at his surroundings. It seemed like he was in a hospital. Was he too soft on himself when he stabbed himself with a knife? Did someone save him when he was on the verge of death? Why was the judge still alive? He clearly remembers that he had killed Valentin.

The kid reached out of the vase on the table and tried to smash it on Valentin's head. Realizing what Seojin wanted to do, Valentin quickly caught his hand while the vase shattered into pieces on the ground. Luckily, Seojin was still weak because he had just woken up.

"What do you think you are doing? This is the hospital. You should behave yourself," Valentin warned. He didn't know why the male lead was like that, but there was something wrong with him.

"Behave myself?" Seojin laughed cynically. He glared at the judge and said, "You don't have the right to say that when you planned to kill my parents."

'What's wrong with Seojin? It's as if he had forgotten everything," Valentin asked the system.

[Indeed. Because of his head injury, he now has amnesia. He only remembers his past life. You could say that he's the male lead from the timeline when you didn't transmigrate.]

Valentin sighed and massaged his temple. How was he going to gain the male lead's trust now? He had worked hard to help the male lead, but now you're telling him that Seojin forgot everything? How was he going to gain his trust now?

"You might not believe what I say, but the people who played a part in your parents' death have been sent to prison," Valentin explained.

"Then, why are you not in prison?" Seojin asked and looked at the judge, not believing him.

"Because I'm not the judge you are familiar with. I'm from another world and I've transmigrated into this body."

Seojin snickered and stared at the judge. Did he expect that he would believe all that bullshit? He glared at him with his deadly blue eyes. He was all fired up, knowing that the judge was still alive. It seems like he hadn't died yet because he hasn't finished his mission.
