A girl is seen walking on a pavement, her long brown ponytail blown by the breeze moved gently her canvas hitting the stony pavement softly. She listens to soft music from her headphone as she reaches a house and goes in, she enters the sitting room and sees her mother on the floor sobbing, she quickly goes close to her and kneels besides her.
"Mom what's wrong? Why are you crying? What happened?" Nora asked her soothing voice sounded troubled and confused seeing her mom on the floor.
"It's nothing serious, I..it's just...that your father wants to...he wants to divorce me..." Mrs Smith stammered before she finally broke down in tears. "What!!! Dad wants to do what?? And you said it was nothing serious, how could he something like that? You know what I'm going to meet him now" Nora said,fuming furiously..she stood up ready to go to her father office.
"No you can't do that, you don't even know where he is,I..I already called my lawyer and we have sorted some things out, your father can't get rid of me easily even if he wants to because I have something he needs and he will not wants rumors to spread because it can affect his company" Mrs Smith said her eyes shining with determination, she quickly rose to her feet and wiped her face and smiled at Nora. "I need to prepare our dinner now though I doubt your father will return today. I'll just prepare something light, you should go to your room and freshen up" she said.
Nora looked at her mom for any sign of discomfort but she found none."Alright" she nodded at her mom.
"You know you can travel to country M for the main time to finish your high school" Mrs Smith suggested to Nora. Nora thought for a while before replying, "Sure you know I'll love to go, there's nothing for me here except from you. Will you go with me?"
"I would love to but I need to sort things out here before I can go. I've already registered you in Havenwood High so you can finish your education there. Now why don't you go upstairs and pack your bags" Mrs Smith said. "Wow!!! Really Havenwood High, that's nice now I'm excited to go, let me go pack my bags" Nora said looking thrilled.
Nora went to her room to pack her bags, she was tired of living in this hellish mansion where there were only bad memories since she could remember. "Come down for dinner when you are through packing" Mrs Smith yelled from downstairs. After some time Nora came downstairs to eat.
After dinner she went back to her room to bath and lied down on the bed thinking of her father. Ever since she could remember she was never close to her father, who did not like her just because she was a girl, on her birthdays he was never around and always on business trips and only sent gifts that were never useful like marvel toys collections and she was not even a fan of a those type of toys but he seemed to forget or perhaps he never knew what she liked in the first place and he never treated her mum like they were married probably because it was an arranged marriage to start with.
"Why do I've such a cruel dad? I think it's better for me to just go to country M at least away from all this drama" she murmured before falling asleep.
Nora woke up due to the noise made by the birds chirping beside her window on the tree outside. She sits straight and stretches then everything that happened yesterday came rushing back to her and her hands squeezed the bedsheet, her eyes burning in rage, "Calm down Nora you are going to leave this place, leave all this drama and go to country M, so it's going to be okay but mum is still here, well she will soon join me too" she muttered to herself. "Now let me go and bath, uhhh gosh I think my armpit stinks omg! When was the last time I shaved, this is terrible" she said to herself as she entered the bathroom.
Nora descended the stairs carrying her luggages with her, "Morning mum, I hope you slept well and did not think too much about what happened yesterday" she asked her mum as she kissed her cheeks.
"No nothing of such happened, I slept well. I'm sure you are set to go, eat something first so you can catch up with the plane, Mrs Smith smiled at Nora as if nothing had happened yesterday but Nora knew her mother was sad, she was only trying to be strong. "Yeah, I'm all set and ready to go" she smiled back.
After breakfast, they both went outside to see that the car taking Nora to the airport was already prepared. Nora looked at her mum "She was such a beauty with Bob brown hair, with a cute gentle smile that showed deep dimples, she had always been jealous of them, why would any man want to divorce such a beauty" Nora frowned at that thought before speaking to her mum, "I'm going to miss you mum, make sure you don't take too long before coming to country M ok?" She asked hugging her mum tightly. "I'll miss you too sweetie, I'll make sure to get everything sorted out quickly do that I can see you soon" Mrs Smith hugged her daughter her eyes filling with unshed tears. "You need to go now so you won't miss your flight, bye sweetie, make sure to call me when you get there ok?" She said detaching herself from her daughter. "Ok mum" Nora said looking sad. "You will be staying in our vacation house for now" Mrs Smith informed her. " Yeah, I know, bye mum, love you" Nora said as she entered the car. "Bye darling" her mum said waving at her. She stood there until the car disappeared from sight.
"Wow!!! The air is nice, I'm finally in country M" Nora stretched as she walked out of the airport and entered the car that will take her to the house she lived in anytime she came to the country.
She alighted in front of the house in Savannah estate and went in to see that her mum had assigned some maids to take care of her. "She did not need the help of the maid" she thought as she rolled her eyes at her mother's effort to make things easy for her here. She brought out her phone as she went upstairs to her room which was very big and was in different shades of blue just like she liked it.
"Hi mum" Nora said when her mum answered the call. "Hi, darling, you must have gotten home?" Her mum asked. "Yes, I've, thanks for hiring the maids though I don't need them, you know I'm not a baby anymore" Nora said pouting. "Of course, you are still my little baby" her mom chuckled. Nora smiled happy that her mum laughed, it was what her mum needed right now. " I'm missing you already" she said playfully with pouted lips. "Same here sweetie" her mum said her smile still lingering. "I sent you enough money you can use in case of any emergency" Mrs Smith said. "Yeah, I received the notification few minutes ago, thanks mum, make sure you come as soon as you can and don't let dad make you sad again" Nora said. "Alright, bye sweetie, love you" her mum replied sending kisses. "Love you too mum" Nora said before hanging up.
Nora sighed as she looked at her luggages and decided to unpack and arrange them after that she freshened up before lying down to sleep. "I'm definitely going to have fun here for sure" she murmured before dozing off.
Days turned to weeks and now it remained only two weeks and some days before school resumed and Nora couldn't wait to go to school. She stepped out one day to buy herself a cup of cappuccino. On her way back when she was about to cross, the traffic light turned red and it was safe for her to cross when a car came out of nowhere with full speed towards her direction, she was too shocked to move her body and the car came closer and she closed her eyes knowing fully well that this was the end of the road for her " urgh to think that she would die before she had any boyfriend was vexing" she thought suddenly.
She said her last prayer before the car will run her down. She heard a screeching sound,she perceived the smell of burnt tyres and then she fell on the floor. She saw blurry figures of people gathering around her as her vision blurred then everywhere turned dark....
