If people cared enough in the past, now she wouldn't need to run away from guards. Even Mother Earth tried to get rid of people but somehow they survived. They are some lucky bastards. They didn't deserve a second chance if we don't count that one time She got rid of dinosaurus. All catastrophes you could imagine were happening to Earth and like the cherry on top universe sent a lot of meteorites but they helped them. People moved in craters when the level of water rose. Since then, even when levels of water dropped, we stayed inside them and no one left. Ever.
Anyway, blood in the mouth isn't normal while running. Why is she running? Well she, Rose, isn't supposed to be here, inside walls. But she also didn't come from outside. She was the second child of her mother and she hid her well till now. It was her first time being chased by a man. Technically they wanted her dead but she messed up today. Usually Rose watches them from a safe distance but she needed to go hunting for food because they are short on food and it is her first time in this part of the woods.
They are hunting her main trader. Marcus. They saw him exchanging things with outsiders and that is punishable with death. They probably saw him around here. Rose exchanged some squirrels with him for a bow and a couple of arrows.
Rose needs to get rid of these guards before she collapses and it's not an easy job because of these drones they use. They are faster than her, so she needs to come up with a plan to get rid of them without running. Rose had a bad idea and she didn't really like it but it was only her option. She needs to go deeper into the woods but she is not familiar with that part of it. She is hoping that will help with getting drones away.
She was constantly looking behind her to see if guards were behind her, they weren't so she paused for a bit but the drone kept hovering over her and it was very irritating. She tried to calm herself down and catch her breath but it looked like it hurts to take more breaths. The drone came closer to Rose and instantly without thinking she pulled a bow and shot an arrow, but at what cost? Arrow just came back to her right away, it bounced off the drone. She looked confused at her own actions. This drone is twice her size. Like who in their right mind would do what she did? No one, that's why she is here to do stupid things. I mean it's a good idea for a small drone.
It seems nothing else came to her mind. In the distance you could hear voices of guards yelling. Rose looks indecisive about running into a forest. Looks like she made up her mind but body isn't cooperative. She is lucky this drone is a normal scouting one and not an armed one.
"Dang it." she then just sprinted into the woods with little energy she had.
The drone is still following her but it needs to go further into the sky because of trees. They were more branched. After a couple of minutes running but mostly taking breaks she finally lost the drone. She still could hear it but couldn't see it. She looked around to orientate but the only thing she could see was someone waving in the distance. After hesitating Rose ran towards them but they were faster than her. She stopped to follow them and once again looked around her and she was deeper into the woods than before. Now she definitely doesn't know where she is.
Hearing guards in the distance she climbed trees so they wouldn't see her. While Rose was waiting for them to leave she dozed off. Waking up she almost fell down but caught a branch in time. When she finally got to the ground she listened carefully and didn't hear anything. Looking around didn't see anything and anyone only heard birds chirping. Well she probably knows one thing for sure. She didn't know where she was. She was trying to get out of the forest the same way she got in but she couldn't remember a way and she is definitely not even close to getting out of this forest tonight.
It was getting darker with every minute but finally when it got dark she could see light in the distance. She immediately ran towards it and it was City. Now the only thing she needs to do is explain to her mother why she wasn't home for a whole day and why she is coming back empty handed.
She was more careful than ever because of what happened today and there are more guards in the City today. On her way home she bumped into someone with a shoulder. He was going outside the City and she hoped her eyesight was playing with her because he had orange hair. She hoped it was only because of how dark it is. Colour orange belongs to Mayors family and that is big no no if he saw her.
Sneaking into the house is harder than losing those guards. Mother always knows when she comes home, even when Rose makes no noise. First she tried to open the window to her room but it was closed but she was sure she left it open. So it must be her mother but there was little hope it was her brother just messing with her. Carefully she opened the doors of the house, luckily it was unlocked so it gives her more hope it was brother. Even if they hate each other he has a soft spot for her.
Her room is in the attic. First she needs to pass parents' bedroom on the first floor right to the front door then go upstairs then next to brother's room and finally she can go up to the attic. The first step is to open and close the front door without making any noise. That is the hardest part to be honest because she was caught multiple times because of this door. There is a specific measurement when opening doors. Can't open them fully because they make noise so she needs to squeeze in.
She managed to quietly come in, now only left is to pass by parents room which is conveniently opened. She sneaked past the room and stayed next to it to hear if they moved. She held her breath until it was safe to move. She only stepped on the third, fifth, eight and fourteen steps because other ones make noise. Again she waited but she didn't hear them wake up so she continued to the attic. And with ease she passed her brother's room. When she opened the doors of the attic and went inside she thought she didn't get caught. There was, right on my bed. He.
