Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Ml pov chapter

A car drove down the dark, empty road. Jazz music was played softly. Suddenly, the phone rang.

A hand hovered over the phone for a moment before picking up.

"Hm?" A heavy male voice spoke through the phone.

"I'm heading home. What? Why? Fine, fine."

He hang up and turned the car around. Heading back to the base.

Later, he got out the car and slammed the door shut before heading into the base.

He pushed the door open and walked in. His shoes echoing through the room.

Everyone looked at him as he headed towards the elevator.

He pressed on the elevator button and waited for it to arrive.

Soon, he entered the elevator and headed up to the top floor.

After arriving, he walked straight to the office. Pushed the door open, and fixed his eyes on the chair facing another way.

The chair turned, and the person in it stare straight at the man who had just walked in.

"Vincent." The man said, his voice was deep and rough.

The man who had entered looked at the him.

"I have new mission–together with Noah"

He placed a map on the table, with a firm hand.

Vincent narrowed his eyes, his jaw tightening as he glanced at the map.

"Noah?" he muttered. "I work better alone."

The man in the chair leaned forward.

"Not this time."

The door opened again. Footsteps echoed.

Noah walked in, tossing his jacket onto a chair without looking at Vincent.

"Guess we're partners now."

The air between them grew heavy.

The man tapped his finger on the map.

"Target's here. Infiltration at 2200 hours. I expect results."

Vincent's eyes scanned the paper before him.

He gave a slow nod.

"Understood."

As Vincent reached for the map, the man smirked.

"One more thing. If you fail this mission… don't bother coming back."

As they prepared to leave the base, Vincent suddenly stopped at the entrance. His hand lingered on the car door, hesitation flashing across his face.

"Noah," he said firmly.

Noah raised a brow. "What is it?"

"Change of plan. We'll move out tomorrow. Six a.m. sharp."

Noah frowned. "Tomorrow? That's not like you—"

Vincent cut him off with a sharp look. "Just do it."

Without another word, he turned away, walking back to his car. The engine roared to life, but this time he wasn't driving toward the mission. His chest felt heavy, but his heart knew where he needed to go.

Vincent's car vanished into the night—heading not toward the mission, but toward someone he couldn't let go of.
