A bond formed
Elena (nodding), "when I was three I got a set of gifts, not just a small box filled with chocolates and food but they held sentimental value. When I was 5 I wondered how, how could someone do that for a child they've never met. What kind of love is it that brings a person to admire someone they've never seen? Because you definitely never met me and it was uncertain that I'd appreciate or love you but you still did it anyway. I've loved you since I received that gorgeous and fluffy Teddy. I agree I was clueless but when brother Thane gave me that huge box claiming it was mine, I was thrilled. That huge doll, the cute teddy bear, all those hair clips even two cute dresses that looked so adorable and made me feel like a princess."
Mahira listened attentively to the kid her eyes lighting up as well. Her eyes held admiration for Elena, like she was given the world and she'd do anything to keep it. Like a blossoming flower garden left at your care. She wanted to do that for Elena and life was somehow by her side. For the first time it seemed like things were working out in her favor.
Mahira's eyes welled up, overwhelmed by Elena's word's. She wiped a lone tear that had slipped out and pulled Elena in for a hug.
Mahira "Elena you know when I was just 15 year's old, I got to know about your existence. You immediately became my world. I considered you my daughter despite not having any relation with you. You became my entire world."
Mahira burst into tears in the embrace. She held on to Elena as if she'd disappear into thin air. Her arms held on tightly to Elena refusing to let go.
Elena " I don't know why I feel the way I do towards you, a stranger but I'm glad I finally met you, now I'll always be by your side like I desire to. I think you deserve a chance . I will never abandon you no matter what. I love you fairy"
As they hugged, Mahira felt great warmth in her heart. Butterflies tickled her stomach and her face was filled with so much joy. She had never imagined that Elena would love her not even a little.
From that day on, Elena and Mahira spent a lot of time together. They'd go out for ice cream marathons, have endless movie nights just anything Elena desired.
Although the Carson family didn't approve it, Elena was always happy with Mahira. Mahira was all she talked about. She didn't have frequent nightmares like she used to. Kaashvi was incredibly happy that Mahira finally found a distraction.
She still feared that Elena would hurt Mahira and that Thane would take advantage of Mahira using Elena. Elena always went for sleepovers at Mahira's place.
Sofia, her mother allowed it for the sake of Elena's happiness even if she disliked Mahira.
As usual Mahira went to the Carson mansion to fetch Elena. Sophia was waiting impatiently at the door with Elena by her side. Elena's eyes lit up when she saw Mahira who was running towards them.
Sophia, "you have the nerve to be late don't you?"
Mahira, "I'm sorry Mrs Carson, I got stuck in traffic."
Sophia rolled her eyes as she handed her daughter over to Mahira. She looked Mahira up and down like she was filth.
Sophia, "why do you dress like that?"
Mahira, "like what?", she smiled.
Sophia, "these cloths wrapped around you."
Mahira smiled as she looked over at her outfit. She had always loved Indians from a young age. She felt understood and comfortable and mostly relatable with them.
Her mother never approved of her love for them but Mahira felt they were her safe space. Hence she changed her name to Mahira and her dress code was more traditional and Indian inspired than it was modernized.
She always wore a saree because they were her favorite type of dress in her Indian category. She wore a salwar kameez and other Indian inspired outfits but sarees were here favorite because they made her feel comfortable.
Mahira, "they're called sarees ma'am, not cloths. I think I look good in them."
Sophia just rolled her eyes and kissed Elena goodbye.
Elena, "you're right, you look good in sarees, hot if I may say."
Mahira, "I'll beat you up if you try that flirtatious attitude on me."
Elena, "we both know you could kill a fly."
Mahira, "ooh but I do kill insects. I don't like them so I can hurt a fly."
Elena, "whatever, where too?"
Mahira shook her head smiled as Elena swung her curly hair and walked to the car that Mahira came in. Elena was wearing a pink ruffled dress and one inch heels with a pair of studded earrings and a pink bow.
Mahira takes Elena to her favorite ice cream stand. Elena hopped off the car as she excitedly clapped her hands. She always had the same reaction when she was brought to the ice cream shop.
Mahira, "if your mom knew about this, she'd kill me."
Elena, "I know" she giggles
Mahira, "that's not very comforting."
Elena, "at least when I die I'd have had as much ice cream as I desire. No parents for restrictions, that's why you're here."
Mahira rolls her eyes and they go to the ice cream shop.
Elena " you know what, I'm glad I found you fairy. You are really one of a kind you know. I don't want to loose you ever. I love you so much fairy."
Elena giggled as she complimented Mahira. Mahira smiled sweetly and pulled Elena's cheek with a pout on her face.
Mahira" Ncaaw sweetie. I'm not one of a kind, you are. My angel what would you do if I ever left you, you would hate me right?"
Elena's brows furrowed as she looked at Mahira confused then she feigned hurt then her expression turned a bit sour.
" Is that what you think of me", she said with a cute pout.
" Okay then, now I am angry at you."
Mahira pat's her head, stroking her hair gently.
" I was just curious Elena. I didn't mean to hurt you…."
( Mwah); Elena kissed Mahira's forehead. She giggles sweetly as she sits back on her sit and licks her ice cream. After two licks she looks back at Mahira with a sweet smile on her face.
" Fairy you know I love you so much right. I will never hate you. If it was up to me I'd keep you forever. I wish you were my sister in law so that I could spoil you. My grandmother ( Alf Carson) would be in good hands with you and I know that. But Ariana is just selfish. Ariana care's for no one and I hate her for that."
Elena takes Mahira's hand and places it on her head.
"Fairy, promise me that even if we separate you will come back for me. Please promise fairy that no matter the distance you will never forget me. Promise that you will never abandon me."
Tear's welled up in Mahira's eye's as she made that promise to Elena.
" Elena sweetie. I meant it when I said you are like a daughter to me. I would never abandon my child okay. Your fairy will never leave you love, never. So listen here as a symbol of our promise, I will buy you something. Finish your ice cream first okay."
Elena quietly ate her ice cream with a huge smile plastered on her face. After eating ice cream, Mahira took Elena to a jewelry store. There she bought an expensive diamond necklace with a rare shape that was specifically designed according to Mahira's instructions.
She has been preparing to give it to Elena ever since she got it designed. The necklace was embedded in ruby red diamonds, the diamond was cut into a unique shape then encased in a decorative diamond cage.
"Elena," Mahira called as she put the necklace around Elena.
" Dear, please keep this necklace okay. I got it made especially for you. It represents our relationship. Always keep it on you. With the help of this necklace I will be able to identify you no matter what."
Elena's hand's snaked around Mahira's neck as she hugged her overwhelmed by emotions and hugged her.
"Fairy, you know what? You are my second mommy. Besides Sofia mommy, you are my second mother. Not only are you my fairy but also my lifeline. I love you beautiful fairy."
Mahira burst into tear's upon hearing Elena's heartfelt expression. She held onto Elena as they both giggled through their tears at their level of emotional expressions daily.
