Chapter 24 - Ch24: Hallucinations

"What do you mean by 'go back'? What's wrong with this medicine?" Leon's grip tightened around Finn's hands, his gaze sharp with concern.

"Leon," Finn took a measured breath, his voice low, "this is a sleeping pill. It's a very high dosage, one you can't just get without a doctor's prescription."

"What?? Finn, you're scaring me," Leon admitted, exhaling in relief. "I thought bad... it's just insomnia, maybe a bit intense. Why are you reacting like this?"

"No, Leon, you're not hearing me. Insomnia isn't the problem here; it's what happened last night." Finn's expression darkened as if a storm were brewing inside him.

"Huh?"

"Remember when you saw her? She was drinking wine, right?"

"Hmm, yeah... so what?"

"That combination—this medicine and alcohol—it can lead to hallucinations. What I'm saying is, she might not have been in her right mind yesterday."

Leon's brow furrowed. "Huh! But she was smiling…" The flicker of realization dimmed his expression.

"Leo, it's a possibility. Maybe yesterday, she was smiling at something completely different—a teddy bear, a doll, or her favorite actor in a movie playing in her mind. And then when she woke up this morning, she didn't even see you. What if she checked out of the hotel without a clue about it?"

"No! She wouldn't…" Leon's voice trailed off, uncertainty creeping in.

"Listen, I'm just saying what could have happened, the worst-case scenario. Maybe she remembers but feels shy and confused."

"Hmmm. That could be... but what do I do now?" Desperation laced Leon's voice.

"Let's not rush into seeing her, not yet," Finn suggested.

"Hmm." Leon nodded, his heart heavy but understanding the wisdom in Finn's caution. They could feel the weight of the situation, the fragility of her mind, and the uncertainty hanging in the air like an unspoken question.
