My eyes snapped toward the source of the sound, and to my surprise, it was none other than my so-called bride-to-be, Marissa.
But it wasn't her hand that struck…this time it was her mother, Luna Aisha. She had slapped the servant girl across the face with such force that the poor girl stumbled sideways, her cheek already flaming red.
Before I could even gather my voice, Luna Aisha straightened herself, eyes blazing with authority.
"What happened, darling?" she asked Marissa sweetly, as though her hand had not just left a burning mark on another's skin.
Marissa huffed dramatically, lifting her chin like a spoiled princess. "My personal servant can't even fix things right! My face is sweaty, and when I asked for my makeup kit, she said she forgot to bring it. Can you imagine? How careless! How disrespectful!"
The servant girl bowed low, trembling, her lips parting as though she wanted to beg for forgiveness. But she didn't even get the chance.
