She pressed on, despite seeing Evangelin growing pale, “You meant that he doesn’t experience physical pain, but what about emotional pain?”

“If I were Father,” Apollnia interrupted, recalling the emperor’s face from a long time ago when he took pleasure in seeing her mother in agony. “Whether his aim is to make you suffer or tame Priya, he’ll first place you in front of that beast.”
Her tone was cold as she watched Evangelin bite her lips.
“Putting you through suffering won’t even be a challenge. You think you can simply end your life, but could you do that in front of Priya?”
Evangelin tried to speak, but no words came out.
