Apollonia frowned. She liked getting straight to the point, but it seemed getting a straightforward answer from Evangelin would remain a challenge.
“I’d like to remind you that being with Kylion doesn’t mean you’re completely free from Father’s control.”
Apollonia had assumed that Evangelin’s carefree demeanor stemmed from Perris’ foolish competition and its outcome. While that had some truth to it, it didn’t guarantee she’d be shielded from the emperor and Perris indefinitely.
Evangelin burst into laughter before continuing, “You’re mistaken, Your Highness. It’s not that I don’t crave freedom. I just don’t believe the emperor can do much to harm me.”
