Chapter 34 - The Eye of Ice and Fire

Yang Xiong only glanced at the Eye of Ice and Fire from a distance before decisively leaving the area.

Given Dugu Bo's current strength, killing Yang Xiong would be as easy as crushing an ant. If he truly encountered Dugu Bo here, there would be no chance of survival.

This place was Dugu Bo's lair. It was very likely that he was secretly observing Yang Xiong. Any hint of interest could lead to being silenced, or at the very least, would raise suspicion and bring future trouble.

With his current strength, Yang Xiong couldn't force his way into the Eye of Ice and Fire. Only Sword and Bone Douluo might have the ability to do so, but unfortunately, they did not understand the true value of this place and wouldn't risk offending Dugu Bo over something vague. Moreover, Yang Xiong wasn't eager to reveal the value of the immortal herbs.

After leaving, Yang Xiong subtly made his way toward Heaven Dou City, continuing his training while waiting for the right opportunity.

Yang Xiong had already calculated the timing. In about a month, it would be Emperor Xue Ye's 80th birthday, an event that would be the most significant celebration in the Heaven Dou Empire in the past six months.

Reportedly, the royal family was preparing extensively for this grand banquet, which would be spectacular.

To showcase the empire's strength and prosperity, Emperor Xue Ye had invited people from all over. Not only were the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan invited, but all sects across the empire also received invitations.

Yang Xiong speculated that such a major event would draw not only domestic powers but also participants from the Spirit Hall and the Star Luo Empire. After all, the Heaven Dou Empire was one of the two dominant empires on the continent.

At such a time, the only titled Douluo affiliated with the royal family, Dugu Bo, their guest elder, would definitely attend. Otherwise, there would be no way to handle the experts from other factions, especially if the Spirit Hall sent Chrysanthemum Douluo.

Yang Xiong had carefully planned his time in Sunset Forest to ensure he found the Eye of Ice and Fire before this event.

As for the ownership of the immortal herbs inside, it wasn't like Dugu Bo had cultivated them. At best, he had temporarily occupied the area. Even he didn't recognize the true value of the herbs, so they were essentially unclaimed.

Whether Tang San and the Shrek Seven Devils would obtain any immortal herbs in the future was none of Yang Xiong's concern.

In some sense, the Clear Sky Sect and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect were allies, but Tang San had never really done anything for the sect beyond selling expensive hidden weapons. In the end, the sect even lost Sword and Bone Douluo to save him, arguably the worst deal in the sect's history.

Over the next few days, Yang Xiong continued training along the same route, occasionally battling low-level soul beasts with high efficiency. If he couldn't defeat them quickly, he would teleport away immediately.

One day, while fighting a thousand-year-old Heavy Ant, a terrifying presence suddenly swept across the sky, as if a powerful being was approaching.

Yang Xiong immediately sensed that this aura was unusual. It was different from what he had felt from Sword Douluo or Bone Douluo. This one carried a hint of stench.

Having studied poisons for many years, Yang Xiong could tell this aura contained a toxic element. It was most certainly from a Titled Douluo. If Dugu Bo had been targeting him, the poison alone would have overwhelmed him.

Pretending not to notice, Yang Xiong continued fighting the Heavy Ant.

Only after waiting half an hour and confirming that Dugu Bo had left and wouldn't return did Yang Xiong head toward the Eye of Ice and Fire at full speed.

Based on his calculations, there were still three days until Emperor Xue Ye's birthday. This was his only window of opportunity. If he missed it, he might not get another chance for a long time.

To avoid suspicion, Yang Xiong had deliberately chosen a training location twenty kilometers away from the Eye of Ice and Fire to keep tabs on Dugu Bo's movements while staying under the radar.

Now, as Yang Xiong approached the perimeter of the Eye of Ice and Fire again, his eyes burned with excitement. This was the greatest treasure in the Douluo World, and Dugu Bo was not around.

Suppressing his excitement, Yang Xiong pulled out a very unusual suit of armor.

The armor was split at the chest and crafted from Deep Sea Heavy Silver, with joints made from the hide of high-level soul beasts, specifically, the ten-thousand-year Ice Crystal Toad.

The Ice Crystal Toad was known as the nemesis of snake-type soul beasts and was immune to snake venom. Its hide had special properties that suppressed snake toxins.

The helmet was made of a single piece of Deep Sea Heavy Silver and embedded with a piece of Black Crystal, a treasure resistant to poison that allowed light to pass through, though visibility was limited.

As an extra precaution, Yang Xiong had coated the entire armor with Ice Crystal Toad poison, forming a crystalline layer that could resist even the venom of the Jade Phosphor Serpent.

He had tested the armor at home and found it watertight even after spending half an hour in the swimming pool.

The downside was that the armor was bulky and allowed only basic movement; the fingers couldn't move. From the outside, he looked somewhat like a Blue Star astronaut, though with higher protection and lower flexibility.

After putting on the armor, Yang Xiong strapped a steel cable to his back. It was thin, long, and had a sharp barbed hook at one end.

Fully prepared, he began walking into the center of the poisonous mist.

The visibility within the toxic fog was extremely low, and Dugu Bo had set up poison arrays, though the main threat was still the dual toxicity of ice and fire from the Eye itself.

As Yang Xiong advanced, the poison coating on his armor began to dissolve, and even the Deep Sea Heavy Silver showed signs of erosion.

Clenching his teeth, Yang Xiong pressed forward. He had to cross the poison formation quickly. If the armor was fully corroded, he'd be reduced to a puddle of blood.

After walking for dozens of minutes, he finally reached a cliffside. He could clearly sense a stronger aura of ice and fire emanating from below.

Overjoyed, Yang Xiong quickly used soul power to anchor the barbed end of the steel cable into the cliff. He wrapped the cable around his arm a few times and began descending slowly with the help of his soul power.
