Chapter 33 - Training in Sunset

For a period of time, Yang Xiong was completely immersed in training within Sunset Forest. He had explored nearly every corner and encountered many different types of soul beasts.

However, given his current soul power level, he would immediately flee upon spotting a high-level soul beast. Thanks to his first soul skill, Xuanming Substitution, which enabled teleportation, he could escape as long as the beast wasn't extremely fast.

After repeated practice, his teleportation became more and more proficient. Even in real danger, he could use the Xuanming Armor to avoid attacks from thousand-year soul beasts. As for ten-thousand-year soul beasts, Yang Xiong would retreat at the first sign of anything unusual.

In terms of injuries, that was hardly an issue. Even if he got hurt, he could quickly recover after escaping by using his second soul skill, Golden Heart. It even allowed him to dispel toxins when attacked by poisonous soul beasts. This second soul skill truly lived up to its reputation, especially since it came from the top-tier soul beast, the Golden Spirit Cypress.

Sunset Forest truly was home to a vast variety of soul beasts. Yang Xiong came across many excellent ones that he might use for future soul rings. He even discovered a highly valuable Flamehorn Unisaur with over 8,000 years of cultivation, a true rarity among thousand-year soul beasts. Unfortunately, he would need at least his fourth soul ring to absorb it.

Strangely enough, even though he encountered ten-thousand-year soul beasts several times, Yang Xiong always managed to escape. These powerful creatures never chased him too far, which he found odd.

Especially in moments of extreme danger, the beasts chasing him would often be drawn away or frightened off, almost as if someone was silently protecting him and removing threats from the shadows.

Despite the dangers, Yang Xiong progressed rapidly in both combat experience and soul power. After undergoing intense daily mental strain and then retreating to meditate, his cultivation advanced quickly. In just under two months, his soul power had reached Level 25. Clearly, this training was well worth it.

At the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Fengzhi looked at a letter on his desk and couldn't help but smile.

"Uncle Bone, this kid Yang Xiong is quite impressive. He's been in Sunset Forest for two full months and has managed to improve his soul power through training. His potential is greater than we imagined."

Bone Douluo snorted, "That kid is just asking for death. If we hadn't arranged for someone to secretly protect him, he'd have been killed by those ten-thousand-year soul beasts long ago."

Ning Fengzhi shook his head. "You underestimate him. Even without protection, he might've survived in the forest. I did send Elder Nine to follow him, but only to deter ten-thousand-year soul beasts and remove life-threatening dangers. At his current level as a Grand Soul Master, he still has to face thousand-year soul beasts on his own."

"You know Elder Nine's personality, he's solitary, without family or children. If he didn't truly value this kid, he wouldn't have shown so much concern."

Bone Douluo nodded. "With Elder Nine's protection, as long as Yang Xiong doesn't encounter a Titled Douluo or a hundred-thousand-year soul beast, his life should be safe."

Ning Fengzhi nodded in agreement. "Elder Nine sends back reports daily. This boy is really good at hiding his capabilities."

"Not only does he have an external soul bone, but in the Soul Arena, he managed a thirteen-match win streak without using soul skills. In terms of combat power, he might already have no equal among Grand Soul Masters. He's comparable to a genius with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul. And now he's surviving alone in Sunset Forest, I think I underestimated him."

"Uncle Bone, if you truly value this Yang Xiong, you should act quickly. At this rate, Elder Nine might end up taking him as a disciple."

Bone Douluo's face darkened. "Even though Yang Xiong has performed well, I'm disappointed he abandoned the defensive path. I still want to observe him a bit more to see if he has the potential to protect our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect."

"As for Elder Nine, no matter how strong he is, he's still only a Soul Douluo. He's far below me."

Ning Fengzhi simply smiled without replying. Regardless, having a genius emerge in the sect was a good thing, especially one who exceeded expectations. But moving forward, training Yang Xiong would require extra thought and effort.

Since the day Yang Xiong left the sect, someone had been secretly following and protecting him, a testament to how much the sect valued their outstanding talents. Yang Xiong had contributed greatly to the sect in the past.

Yang Xiong himself kept track of the days and had traversed every relatively open area within Sunset Forest.

That morning, Yang Xiong arrived at a strange place.

It was a funnel-shaped valley, with thick heat rising from within. The entire area was enveloped in a blackish-green mist, obscuring everything inside.

Even standing far away, Yang Xiong could sense that the green mist was highly toxic, and it faintly contained both ice and fire attributes.

Yang Xiong had trained his body under both ice and fire conditions for years, so his body had developed a certain resistance to these elements. He was also quite sensitive to their presence.

At that moment, Yang Xiong was overjoyed. He had searched the entire Sunset Forest and had finally found his true goal.

"The Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well. This must be the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well. I can't believe I found it so effortlessly."

In the world of Douluo, the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well was a place where one could truly defy fate, considered the greatest treasure in the entire continent.

Although Yang Xiong had read many books and learned about various herbs over the years, he was still clueless when it came to actual healing and had no real medical knowledge.

So he had long given up the idea of curing Dugu Bo in exchange for immortal herbs.

Especially since Dugu Bo was known to be moody and prone to killing at the slightest offense. He wouldn't care if Yang Xiong was an inner disciple of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. The sect certainly wouldn't provoke Dugu Bo just for his sake.

As for trying to get close to Dugu Yan, that was even more unrealistic. Not only was she already dating Yu Tianheng, but Dugu Bo hadn't even gifted anything to his would-be son-in-law. With Yu Tianheng's potential and background, even a single immortal herb would've made him far more powerful than he was.

And there was no way Dugu Bo didn't recognize immortal herbs. He had tried countless methods to purge the poison from his martial soul and must have read many herbal books from the Heaven Dou Empire.

Aside from immortal herbs, the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well was home to many top-tier herbs, like ten-thousand-year ginseng and snow silkworms. Anyone with basic knowledge of herbs would immediately recognize their value.
