"H-how?"
I scooted back as quickly as I could but I couldn't get myself off the ground. My arms were shaking so much I could barely move backwards, and he just kept walking towards me.
It caught up to me and slightly lifted its foot off the ground, then slamming it into mine. Its leg had transformed into a blade and pierced through my foot pinning me into the ground.
I let out a scream as a puddle of blood formed. I was right, this thing was different, much more intelligent, preventing me from escaping.
"Y-your… face?" The monster said in a frightening voice.
I looked up at it and noticed that its face was way more blurred than Anatoly's. I could slightly see Anatoly's, but this thing… I couldn't make anything out.
It moved its leg, slightly cutting through more of my skin.
"Arrh!" I groaned as it moved.
It was doing it on purpose… trying to get my attention again since I never responded.
"Y-yEah…" I let out still in pain.
"Yours looks like that too…"
The monsters head tilted, "W-what?"
Did it not notices Anatoly's face?
"B-but how-" The monster spoke, but couldn't finish as its head fell to the ground.
"AHHHHHH" I screamed as the monster fell on top of me.
I quickly shoved it off wiping the blood off of my face.
"Sorry about that." Anatoly said as he pulled the monster's leg out of my foot.
"Ouch!" I cried.
"What took you so long…" I stumbled into him as I tried to get up.
"I died…" He gently pulled my arm around his neck and slowly helped me walk back to the car.
"She wanted you for some reason…"
"She?" I responded a little surprised.
"Yeah… I'm guessing she was going after the old you though."
"The old me?" I wonder if Lydia could see what she actually looked like…
"You know, Lydia?" He responded.
"Sorry I was speaking out loud…"
"But… was that the X-Virus?"
"I think so… I got distracted because she talked and I ended up letting my guard down." He opened the door and I got in.
"Why would she be after Lydia though?"
"She probably did something…" He scoffed as he sat down and started trying to get the car to start.
I stared blankly at him for a few seconds, but he was probably right. I dropped my head in disappointment. Lydia really doesn't sound like a good person… but even then, at least I have some 'friends' here such as Yuri and-
I looked up at him again and remembered that we only knew each other for maybe a couple hours. What was I thinking… I slumped back into my chair as the car started. I don't have anyone here.
"There we go!" He exclaimed!
"Where we off to?" He looked over at me and noticed my mood.
"I don't know. I think we keep going down this way, I can see the buildings in the distance." I responded to him in a dead voice.
"Hey Lydia… I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way."
I slowly looked over at him, "I know…" that's not why I'm sad.
"Maybe I could just call you your original name?"
"My-" I realized what he meant and held back my tears.
"I don't remember it…" My voice was raspily, and he quickly caught on that I was saddened about this.
"Oh…" He put his other hand on the steering wheel.
"You remember yours?" I quickly wiped off a tear.
"Nah, I don't think I ever had one."
"Doesn't that just mean you forgot it?" I chuckled.
"I never even saw my parents!" He laughed.
"So… if they did give me a name, I never got the chance to hear it."
"Oh…" I responded right back… I didn't know how to respond.
"About Yuri then…" As I said this, I could see his eyes light up.
"Yeah?" He said excitedly.
"How do you even know hes your brother?" I didn't know Leo was my brother… so I'm confused on how he even knows his.
"What do you mean? I grew up with him for a little while."
"Wait what? When you awoke in this world-" I had to take a second to gather my thoughts.
"When did you awake in this world?"
"You mean as Anatoly?"
"Yeah not your original world, this one?"
He looked confused, but finally responded, "Uhh… I was born?"
I stared direly at him. Does this mean I awoke here as Lydia just because she died as soon as I needed a body? Wait a second, doesn't that mean he's been here for over a decade?? No wonder he cares about his brother so much-
"Wait do you know Kashka!?!" I blurted out.
He quickly looked over at me and responded, "My sister!?"
So they're both his siblings…
"Do you know where she is?" I know the captain told me she was dead, but he could have been lying.
"No I haven't seen my siblings in years… that's why I was so excited to see Yuri."
Okay maybe I shouldn't mention to him that she may be dead… I can just tell him later.
"We're getting close." I pointed into the distance as we slowly left the desert looking plains and entered the city.
"Where are the people?" Anatoly asked as he looked around.
"I don't know that's what I was wondering…" I remember walking out here when I first got here being confused, but now it just seems normal… Was I really adapting to this world that fast? I guess I've been here longer than I thought.
"Where do you live?"
"We keep going for a bit then turn left." I remember this area… wasn't this where the first shop was that I went to… where I met Yuri?
Now that I can look around more properly, it really is desolate…
I could still see some people walking around, getting off work, and hanging out with family and friends. They were trying their best to retain that normalcy they once hated. Makes me wonder if I still hate the normal life I used to have…
"TURN LEFT!!" I screamed out loud.
He swerved as fast as he could almost hitting a traffic sign.
"JEEZ, watch where you're going!" I blurted at him.
"Well I'm not the one who told us where to go at the final second!" He said in a raspily mocking voice.
I snorted at him and we both started laughing.
"Ouch!" I quickly stopped laughing and reached down.
My leg still had a slight hole in it… but was healing. My legs have gone through it today.
"Are you okay?" Anatoly asked but I cut him off.
"It's right there!" I pointed toward my apartment and he quickly found a spot for us to park.
I opened the door and slowly got out. I was breathing somewhat hard from the pain, but I'd make it.
"Here let me help you-"
"No no, you're fine after getting shot in the head, so I think I'll make it."
I had a sudden realization that Yuri may no longer be here as it's now dark out…
"Let's go!" I shouted as I started bolting towards the doors.
It was painful, but not as painful as when my legs were broken, so I could sprint.
"Be careful!" Anatoly shouted.
We got inside, and luckily Ken was not there. Nothing against him, it just would be painful to explain everything to him right now.
We got into the elevator and made our way up. We both didn't say a word as we were busy thinking of Yuri… for completely different reasons.
"What should I say…" Anatoly asked suddenly.
"What?" I looked over at him.
"Well I mean, I haven't seen him since we were kids… I wonder if he even remembers me." Anatoly looked worried.
"Everything will be fine…" I reassured him.
Everything will be fine as long as he's actually still here. I thought to myself as the doors opened and I bolted out.
I was quite a bit ahead of Anatoly and made my way to the door before he could.
I started slamming on the door, "Yuri! Are you in there!"
"Please open-"
The door opened, and there stood Yuri.
"Oh few! I was starting-"
His face didn't look that welcoming. Why was he so-
I looked down and noticed what he was holding…
He was holding the clothes that I had placed in the bathtub, all covered in blood.
