Oh no, he found them… what was I expecting though? He was alone here for an entire day.
"I-I can explain…" I slowly lifted my hands up, as if I was surrendering.
Anatoly finally caught up and shouted, "Is he here-" but stopped as he processed the situation.
How was I suppose to explain this… I mean at least Anatoly probably- oh wait he was born here, not placed in a dead body.
The situation was worse than I thought it was.
Yuri glanced over at him, and looked back at me before realizing who it was.
"Wait… Tolya??" His face softened.
"It's been so long!" Yuri hugged him and continued.
"Me and Kashka thought you died when you disappeared!"
Yuri then let go and shoved Anatoly back a little.
"Where have you been!?" He was frustrated.
Anatoly grabbed his arm as he answered, "They took me to use as a guinea pig…"
"W-who?" Yuri hesitantly asked.
Anatoly slowly looked up at him as he responded, "Lunar Labs."
You could almost visually see the anger grow in Yuri as he slammed his fist against the door frame in anger.
"I KNEW IT!"
"THEY PROBABLY TOOK KASHKA SOMEWHERE!" His eyes slowly became dark.
Anatoly noticed as well, and quickly said something to distract him.
"What's that?" He pointed at the bloodied clothes Yuri was holding tight in his grip.
That's not exactly what I wanted you to say to distract him, since now I'm the target, but at least it worked. The darkness in his eyes slowly vanished as he pulled the clothes back in front of us. The blood was completely dry now, so when he slammed his fist, none of the blood got on the wall, and there was none on his hand.
"Ask her." Yuri looked directly at me.
"She probably has a good explanation… right Lydia?" Anatoly was a bit worried, but trusted me.
What do I even say?? Yuri looks like he's going to kill me, and it doesn't look like he appreciated Anatoly taking my side…
If I say the wrong thing, what will happen? This was a weird feeling… it felt like I was enjoying being alive again. That's a pretty strong word for what has happened to me so far, but I feel like I have purpose in this life unlike my old one. I don't want to screw that up. I have Anatoly who trusts me now, but Yuri… he's hanging on a thread, since Lydia worked at Lunar Labs, which makes it harder to gain his trust.
I don't know why I cared whether they trusted me or not, but it felt great having people somewhat close…
I have one idea that should work…
"Lets go inside before I explain…" I brushed past Yuri as I said this.
Anatoly followed, but Yuri stood at the door for a few more seconds. He was definitely annoyed, or worse.
"Yeah lets not ruin things after not seeing each other for so-" Anatoly tried to lighten the mood, still trusting me, but Yuri just walked past him.
"I barely know you."
Something was wrong. Yuri wasn't this… distant, the last time we spoke… and its only been a day.
He sat down, and that's when I noticed… his hands were shaking. I don't know why, but I'd better hurry, who knows what might happen.
I sat down and Anatoly sat down across from me. He looked saddened by Yuri's comment, but I couldn't focus on that right now. I hate using his enemy to gain his trust, but I don't really have any other choice.
"Start talking." Yuri shoved the cloths over to me.
I looked down at them, gathering my thoughts so that I didn't mess anything up, and started talking.
"On the day you kidnapped me, someone attempted to murder me."
The room was dead silent, and they both just kept their focus on me.
"I'm not sure by who, since they were wearing a whole suit, but I believe it was someone from Lunar Labs."
Yuri was skeptical, so he had some questions of his own.
"Wouldn't your Xeno be able to tell you who it was?"
"He was asleep…"
"Conveniently." I muttered under my breath.
"Uh-huh…" Yuri rolled his eyes.
"Why didn't they finish you off…"
"I mean… you saw the blood. They probably thought I wouldn't make it."
"Okay whatever, say they thought you were dead, why would they want to kill you in the first place?"
He's just gonna keep pushing… what can I say that would make him believe me? Something that would make him blindly- I got an idea!
"I think it's because of the Xeno I have."
"What…?"
"My Xeno attached to me when it was suppose to go to someone else, and it ruined their project because at first they thought it had run away or died."
This oddly grabbed Yuri's attention.
"Then I'm guessing they found out somehow and sent someone to kill me…"
"That still doesn't make sense-" Yuri started but I quickly cut him off.
"A little before that, they told me that this Xeno, and yours, Yuri, held some type of secret to this apocalypse."
Yuri leaned back as he heard this, it was as if he had heard this before. Well, his Xeno holds the secret, not mine… but he doesn't need to know that.
"Okay… then why didn't you say anything when I first got here?"
"I mean, you had just kidnapped me, I didn't know if I could fully trust you."
Yuri looked away, he knew I was right.
I know I made all of this up, but I was starting to believe myself. I just sounded so serous, and to be fair, I didn't even know what happened, but when I looked over at Anatoly, and saw how skeptical he looked, I lost some of that confidence. He knew I wasn't fully telling the truth… but he didn't want to say anything. I'd have to tell him later, but for now, I really need him to stay quite.
"Let's go there tomorrow." Yuri blurted.
Me and Anatoly looked at him with the same expression, you've gotta be kidding me.
"What? Did you forget why I wanted to go in the first place?" He looked directly at me.
"No, I didn't… it's just-" I really need to figure out how to tell tell them that their sister is gone.
"Well then it's settled." Yuri got up, walked to the bathroom, and shut the door.
I'm not sure what happened since I was gone, but he was mad.
"What was that?" Anatoly asked.
"I don't know…" I got up and walked over to my bed.
I'm not sure what to do… with his attitude right now, I'm too worried to tell him his sister's dead.
I need to tell Anatoly… He hopefully won't freak out- actually…
In that moment I remembered how he acted when I told him not to kill the captain… soulless.
I moved my blankets, and right under them was my digital passport. Was he going through this? I turned it on to see what it showed—Rusland was the country that he was on. It had details such as when Lydia got there and when she left. Why did he care about this?
"Lydia!" Anatoly shouted.
"Huh- Sorry!" He had called my name multiple times, but I had been too focused that I didn't realize.
"We need to talk." He said with a serious face.
He definitely knows I was lying earlier… and probably knows why, but why does he seem so mad?
