Chapter 30 - my treat and appreciation

I sprint down the hall, my vision blurred by the rushing air as Chimchar runs ahead, his fiery aura filling my sight. Turning the corner, I maintain my pace, hearing the Beedrill closing in on us. All right, Chimchar, change of plans. If we can't return through our original path, we'll forge a new way out. Chimchar, use Fire Punch and shatter that wall! Chimchar halts his run, looks at me stunned, then grins, a fire igniting on his fist as he smashes the wall with a resounding boom. It explodes, revealing the lush green forest beyond. Alright, Chimchar, let's go with a nod. We both leap through the hole and plummet towards the ground, the wind rushing past us.

I unsheathed my sword and stabbed it into the wall to slow my descent, while Chimchar punches through it and grabs the wall with a soft thud. I land on the ground, and Chimchar joins me. As we begin running, the Beedrill's angry buzzing fills the air. I glance back and see the Beedrill filling the sky. Chimchar, faster, faster!" We sprint ahead, pushing through the dense vegetation as the Beedrill's closing in. Chimchar, come on! We need a distraction. Blast Fire at them as big as you can.

Well, slip away in the confusion. Chimchar steps forward, his eyes filled with uncertainty, and raises his fists. As a fire roars to life on his fist, it grows larger and larger, forming a ball that reaches a height of about four feet.

Come on, Chimchar, we need more than just enough. With a mighty roar, Chimchar focuses, and the ball grows a foot bigger but remains stationary.

Chimchar clearly signals that's it, pouring all his energy into this and unable to sustain it any longer. I place my hands on his back and begin channeling my aura into him. Come on, Chimchar, take my energy, take it all, help us escape this predicament, please, Chimchar. I trust you. I know you'll get us out of this. We're all counting on you. Dreepy, Ditto, and I were all rooting for you. With a mighty roar, Chimchar channeled all his energy into his fire, which rapidly expanded until it grew over 16 feet in diameter. As if by a determined roar, he hurled it directly at the Beedrill's. The roar of fire erupted in the middle of their horde, causing a violent explosion that sent a flash of bright orange light into the air.

This intense heat scorched half of their ranks, while the rest were left with burns all over their bodies. Then, another flash of bright heat erupted as Chimchar began to glow. A rapidly forming sphere of fire radiated hotter and brighter.

Finally, a massive Chimchar emerged, its size increased, a blue plate adorning its forehead, its tail lengthened, and a ring of bright yellow fur encircling its arms. It was no longer Chimchar; it had evolved into Monferno. With a grin, Monferno turned to me, his eyes filled with excitement and a strange sense of clarity. I grin and give him a five-five. Alright, let's get out of here before they find us. With a nod, we both start running, using the foliage as cover. The sprint time blurs as we run, and I put Monferno in his ball, running solo over the next few hours. All I can hear is the sound of my harsh breath and the sound of branches snapping.

Intel: I find a cliff and, on its side, near the base, a small cave is there. It's perfect to spend a night hiding from the Beedrill. I hide it out, letting the heat die down. I jump up and scale the mountain using Aura to help me, climbing into the cave and finding a nice spot in the back to rest. Before breaking a piece of the cave's wall and using it to block the entrance, I rest in the back and close my eyes to get some rest. As silence fills the air, I fall asleep.

A few hours later, I'm woken to the sound of the rock blocking the cave entrance being moved. I grab my cane and stand up, jumping behind a rock out ledge. I see the boulder being moved before being shattered by the Beedrill's drill-like arms. The dust gets pushed away as three Beedrill come into the cave, buzzing around and searching it. I press myself flat against the ground and keep my sword under my body as one gets closer and closer. It's just under the rock out ledge, looking around for a few seconds before flying away. I breathe a sign of relief and keep an eye on it.

One there, I see another of the Beedrill looking around the front. Wait, where's the third one? There were three. Wait, a flash of cold dread freezes my body. Before I can move, I feel a blind flash of searing pain in my shoulder as a Beedrill's arm stabs it. I let out a yell of pain and rear my head back, headbutt it, knocking it out. I unsheathe my sword and reach for my poke balls only to see them lying on the floor, having been cut off by the Beedrill. I block a strike from one of its arms, duck it with the other, and channel Aura through my body, ripping out a chunk of rock and smashing its skull with it. It rears back in pain, blood gushing from its head, but before I can finish it off, the other Beedrill charges at me.

I jump back and toss a large chunk of rock at them, but they stab through it using their arms and guard the injured one to let it recover. It's tricky. They know a variety of close moves, though the trickiest one will be Poison Sting, and I should watch out for some String Shots. This cave's tight space isn't doing me any favors either. Good grief, I should set my sights on getting my Poke Balls while keeping the Beedrill away with my P.lan set. I lunge forward, slashing downward, sending a slash of Aura at them while I sprint to my Poke Balls. The injured Beedrill shoots a String Shot at me, while the other one charges at me, and the last one blocks my Aura slash. I keep running as one of the Beedrill stabs at me, its arm turning purple with poison as it uses Poison Sting.

I narrowly dodge, leaning to the side to slash at its head with Aura. The Beedrill that blocked my Aura slash charges at me, its arm purple as it aims its Poison Sting at my head. I change the swing of my sword and block the Beedrill, letting the other reposition around me while the injured Beedrill shoots a String Shot. I duck the String Shot and send an Aura Slash at the Beedrill while lunging toward my poke balls. But I'm forced to roll to dodge and kick his head, launching him away.

The last Beedrill stabs my leg. I grit my teeth and stab him in the head, killing him instantly and kicking him off. I curse softly as I see that the wound is poisoned. The injured Beedrill takes its chance and string shoots my poke balls to the floor, encasing them in string. I grit my teeth and send and send an Aura Slash that slices its head off as the last Beedrill charges at me. As I let it stab, my stomach grabs its other arm and slices its head off with a wet gurgle and splash of crimson blood. It falls to the floor dead. I gasp in pain and crumple to the floor, my wounds gushing blood and the poison flooding my body. I hear the very faint sound of Beedrill wings and realize more are coming.

I grit my teeth, rip the String Shot off the wall, not having enough time to get them out. I limp to the entrance and leap off, using my sword to slow my fall and land with a thud. I limp into the forest and breathe heavily, my vision blurring from the blood loss and poison racing through my body. One thought fills my mind: Is this it? Is this the end? Am I going to die? No, this is not how I'm going to die in the middle of the forest to some Beedrill. I'm going to travel to every region, fight all the champions, beat them all, and have the best adventure ever. I'm not going to die here with a new fire in my eyes. I begin to limp through the forest, looking through blurry vision for somewhere to hide before seeing a lake with rock outcropping near the shore. I limp hurriedly to the lake and, with a hiss, jump in the lake. The cold water sends shock through my body and numbing it. I summon all my willpower and swim through the cold water and grab onto one of the rocks jutting up from the water and keep my grip as tight as I can. My body gets numb and numb as the sound of Beedrill wings fills the air. I look up and see a squad of Beedrill around five flying over the forest.

Looking around, I keep my numb grip on the rock, sweating heavily as the water around my start to turn crimson from my blood. After a few long, tense minutes, they stay flying around the area, looking before finally leaving. I hurriedly swim to the shore and collapse, my body shutting down. The cold water numbing me as I bleed out, and the poison starts to paralyze me. Can I at least let them out? I bring my shaking hands to the ball of wet string with my poke balls in it and start to tear at it, trying to get the balls out, but my hands drop it as the poison fully paralyzes me. What a joke! I can't even let my Pokémon out before I die. I'm a worthless trainer. What's all that crap about going on the greatest adventure?

I can't even save my Pokémon. Tears well up in my eyes as I finally give out. My conscience sinks into the dark body, limping limp on shore, hand still outstretched for his poke balls a few minutes later, the bush on the shore starts shaking as a Pokémon bearing a striking resemblance to a green snake comes out. It's Serperior. It makes its way to his body and stares at him and opens its mouth, but instead of biting him, it bites his shirt and starts dragging him away and grabs his poke balls with its tail. They go through the forest for thirty minutes before coming to a valley and going up it and crawling down and into an area packed with Grass-type Pokémon of all kinds, seemingly living together.

The Serperior crawls to another bigger Serperior, and they talk before a small S.quad of Jumpluff come and grab him dragging him somewhere and start applying berry's while other grass type Pokémon there use healing moves to help him before finally they bandage his wound with makeshift bandages and finally after a around a hour of they leave and come back with his poke balls leaving them beside his table with the sun setting in the back round over the valley giving it a air of peace and silence
