Elena's POV
I never thought I'd fall for someone like Justin Shawn.
And maybe "fall" wasn't even the right word.
It was slower than falling.It was waking up. Breath by breath.
And now, sitting by his hospital bed, my hand resting gently on his bruised one, I felt something I hadn't felt since the night of our wedding:
Hope.
For the first time, I stopped running from the possibility of us. From the fear that this marriage was a mistake. That I would only ever be a pawn. A decoration.
Because the truth was?
I was willing to give us a chance.And more importantly, I wanted to.
Taking that bold step , showing up at the hospital, holding his hand, telling him the truth... it worked.
Something had shifted between us. Subtle, but undeniable.
The next few days were quiet, but in the most comforting way.
Justin was recovering steadily. His shoulder was still bandaged, and he walked a little slower, but he was healing. The doctors were optimistic.
I stayed by his side..... I did.
