Chapter 14 - The Chains That Remember

"Victory is easy. Knowing when to spare someone so they live long enough to regret crossing you — that's strategy."

— post-Sunbreaker War

Scene 1: Location — The Prison Between Stars

The Fifth Main Character… woke up smiling.

Chains burned into his skin.

Aura sealed.

Mouth gagged by a silence rune forged from a dying realm.

And still… he laughed.

"You morons really thought this would hold me forever?"

The cultists — a faction called The Pale Faith — had trapped him in a pocket dimension wrapped in entropy. They thought they were safe.

They were not.

Because the boy was Rahul's final student.

Name: Zephyr Dhaelion

Alias: "The Imitator of Death"

Age: Unknown. Appears 15–17.

Bloodline: Unknown. (Or is it?)

Power: Perfect memory replication. Can mimic any ability once witnessed — including Rahul's techniques.

Known Move:Pulse Without Sound — an advanced strike that exists only between heartbeats.

A guard entered. "He's still chained. Move to containment—"

Click.

Zephyr tilted his head.

"You blinked."

The guard didn't reply.

Because his soul had already left his body.

Chains lay in pieces on the ground.

The warding spells shattered.

Zephyr stood.

"Time to find Kaien. Master said I'd know when he was ready…"

"And Kaien just woke up the universe."

Scene 2: Dominion — The Descent to Wraith Tomb

Kaien, Olivia, and Valenya stood before a sealed crater — black glass surrounded by cursed runes.

Valenya frowned. "This place was buried by Rahul himself. You really think there's something left?"

Kaien said nothing.

He placed his palm to the gate.

It opened.

Only Voidflame lineage could ever unlock it.

And only if the heir was ready.

They descended.

The air turned cold.

Walls etched in thousands of etched runes — Rahul's thoughts. His meditations. His regrets.

At the center of the tomb: a black stone, split down the center.

The first place Rahul ever bled.

Olivia stepped forward. "What is this?"

Kaien knelt beside the stone.

"This is where he spared someone."

"Where he could have erased a civilization… but didn't."

A whisper echoed around them.

Rahul's voice.

"Mercy was never weakness. It was me giving the universe one more chance to behave."

Scene 3: A Memory Fragment Speaks

The stone pulsed. A holographic memory formed above the tomb.

A younger Rahul stood alone, wind tearing his cloak apart.

"I was stronger than anything," he said.

"And yet… I spared them."

"Not because I was kind."

"But because I wanted them to watch what I became."

He turned, looking into the memory's eyes — directly at Kaien.

"Make them remember."

The memory vanished.

Scene 4: Olivia's Confession

Later that night, while camped at the crater's edge, Olivia sat beside Kaien.

Silence. Tension. Firelight dancing in her eyes.

She finally whispered:

"My mother made me swear to never trust you. To kill you if I felt myself losing control near you."

Kaien didn't speak.

"But I did lose control."

"And I don't regret it."

She looked at him.

"You're not just Rahul's heir. You're… the only person I've ever felt safe around."

Kaien, still silent, looked up at the stars.

Then softly:

"Then let's give the stars something to fear."

Scene 5: Zephyr Walks Free

Elsewhere, in the real realm now…

Zephyr emerged from a tear in space.

Tattered shirt. No shoes. No fear.

Behind him? A trail of destroyed dimensions he used as stepping stones.

He looked around.

"So this is the Dominion…"

He reached into his sleeve, pulling out a black medallion given to him by Rahul.

On it: a sigil no one alive could read… except Kaien.

Zephyr smirked.

"Time to deliver the last lesson."

Final Scene: The Prophecy Speaks

In the Vault of Stars — guarded by Aeyra and Valenya — a prophecy etched in flame began to rewrite itself.

The text glowed bright:

"The flame has risen."

"The imitator walks."

"And soon…"

"The throne will not be contested."

"It will be surrendered."

"Because Kaien does not fall…

He ascends."
