July 11, 2044, Teyvat Dimension, Day 2
Recorder: Eileen Custer
We picked up the man in green clothes. He said his name was Venti and that he was a bard. "What we just saw was just an ordinary street conflict," he explained.
"How could it be an ordinary street conflict!?" Hamke shouted. "She almost stabbed you in the heart! Also, what was that thing that looked like a chess piece?"
"That's a Gnosis," we heard a voice behind us. Turning around, we found that the blonde少年 had woken up.
"What is a 'Gnosis'?" Karl asked.
"A Gnosis is a special magical organ owned by each of the Seven Archons of Teyvat. Forged from the remains of the Third Descender, it allows the Archons to resonate and connect with Celestia, amplifies their abilities, and contains considerable elemental power. There are seven in total in the world, corresponding to the seven elements and seven regions," the boy replied.
"Aether!" Venti sounded a little unhappy.
"They are also Descenders from another world. It doesn't matter if they know," Aether said calmly.
"Does that mean you are a god of this world!?" I asked in surprise.
"Hey, since it's already out, I guess I have to tell the truth," Venti said with a wink.
"So, we're here to find our missing companions. Lord Anemo Archon, do you know where they are?" I continued.
"Are they also Descenders like you? There were some, but that was hundreds of years ago," Venti answered.
I was shocked. Could it be that the flow of time here was different from that on Earth? The GTI expedition team went missing only two months ago.
"So, where are they now?" I pressed.
"I'm really sorry, but I can't tell you that. However, you can ask me other questions about Teyvat," Venti apologized.
Karl raised his hand. "Um, why can't our weapons be used in this world?"
"Oh? What kind of weapons?" Venti asked. Karl then took out an AR-15. "This one... It stopped working as soon as we arrived here."
"What a strange thing," Venti murmured.
"On our planet, this is a weapon. It uses gunpowder explosions to propel the warhead forward," Karl explained.
"I've seen weapons like this in Fontaine. But why they don't work here? I have no idea," Venti shook his head.
"Alright, Lord Anemo Archon. Then we want to learn more about this world," I said.
"Sure. There are seven nations in this world, each corresponding to one of the seven elements. The seven gods, known as the Seven Archons, each rule over one-seventh of this planet," Venti introduced.
"I won't stay any longer. I'm looking for my sibling. Everyone, farewell if we are fated," Aether said and left.
I had a short private chat with Venti, and then we also left.
"Eileen, what do we do now?" Hamke asked.
"It seems we have to embark on a journey across the seven nations too," I replied.
"But when we go back to Earth, won't it be almost the 22nd century?" Karl worried.
"Don't worry. From what I've observed, the flow of time here is different from that on Earth. Which means, we are also long-lived beings here," I reassured him.
"Okay, then which country are we going to next?" Hamke asked.
"From what I know, our next destination is Liyue, the nation of contracts. And I think I know why our weapons don't work. Gunpowder relies on chemical energy, and in this world, chemical energy doesn't exist. That means, the things we use that rely on physics are not affected," I explained. Both of them seemed to understand.
"In any case, first we need to find a place to rest, and then head to Liyue tomorrow. There seems to be a temple ahead. Let's set up camp there," I suggested.
We walked towards the temple, but inside, there was a huge robot. It spotted us and launched a missile. Fortunately, we dodged it in time.
"I heard Venti mention this before. It's called a Ruin Guard, a relic left by Khaenri'ah!" I shouted.
"What do we do? Our anti-armor weapons don't work!!" Karl panicked.
"Use the electromagnetic weapon! It's fired by electricity!" Hamke yelled. He then took out an electromagnetic launcher from his backpack, loaded a 40mm fin-stabilized armor-piercing discarding sabot round, aimed at the Ruin Guard, and pulled the trigger. The powerful electromagnetic force propelled the projectile forward, easily penetrating its armor. We were safe, for now.
