They even bound her up and imprisoned her in the dungeon.
Thinking about the wasted six years, Lucy Eaton wanted to slap herself.
Wasting her precious youth on someone who didn't love her at all, how stupid!
Since she's reborn, she must not repeat past mistakes!
As they left the hotel, Lucy Eaton caught sight of a black sedan driving away slowly; it was an Aston Martin with a familiar license plate, Jacob Green's car.
As her gaze turned that way, Jacob Green, as if sensing it, looked outside and happened to see her.
She stood together with a young man who had dyed silver-white hair.
This woman gave him the impression that she wasn't a first-time worker in this profession.
She was too composed, not inclined to cling to him, nor was she playing hard to get.
This was obvious to him because when facing him, her eyes were calm, devoid of any ripples.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing."
Stellan Quinn's voice was tender, "You look unhappy, is something bothering you?"
Jacob Green reached out to pat the top of her head, slightly curling his lips, "It's just work things, today's been quite busy at the office, I can't stay with you, I have to head back to the company later, I'll have Nathaniel Green drive you home."
"Alright, you do your work." Stellan Quinn said considerately, "Eat well, don't keep drinking coffee, let's have dinner together tonight. I've thought seriously about the question you asked me before, and I'll give you an answer tonight."
Jacob Green looked at her, "Okay."
Sitting in the front passenger seat, Grace Hughes initially felt very nervous, but now she was relieved; he wouldn't know she did it.
Thinking about last night's events, she was very upset.
Last night, she arrived late due to traffic, upon arrival she learned that the hotel staff she bribed mistakenly sent another woman to Jacob Green's room, leaving the room card there; although furious, she held back and didn't make a scene.
She rang the doorbell for a long time with no one answering, attempted to check the hotel's surveillance but was denied, knowing she got the short end of the stick, she left.
She didn't close her eyes all night, pondering until morning when she sought out her close friend Stellan Quinn, claiming that a friend saw him at the hotel last night.
Who would have thought, when they got there, they discovered only Jacob Green was in the room.
It looked like Jacob Green planned to hide this from Stellan Quinn, certainly not going to pursue or investigate further.
Little does she know, Jacob Green detests being manipulated, especially by women.
——
Half an hour later, Nathaniel Green returned to report, "Young master, Miss Quinn has been sent home, Miss Hughes has also been taken to Blossom Haven according to your orders."
"I see." Jacob Green sat at his desk, not raising his head, "Did you get the hotel surveillance footage?"
"Got it; the hotel has destroyed their copy, this is the only one left." Nathaniel Green placed the USB drive on the desk.
"Investigate the information about that woman from the hotel, make it comprehensive, and also investigate the man who left the hotel with her. Report back when you find out."
"Yes."
Jacob Green inserted the USB drive into the computer, opened the video to view, the more he watched, the more deeply his brows furrowed.
Since Grace Hughes arranged for a worker in a special profession, why did she ring the doorbell just minutes after Lucy Eaton entered the room?
This answer soon yielded a result.
At ten o'clock, Nathaniel Green brought in a document.
"Young master, here is all the information on Lucy Eaton and James Foster."
"Read it to me." He didn't feel like looking.
"Yes, Lucy Eaton, 23 years old, born in Ainsworth Village, Suburban Township, Riventide, Ningham City. Mother deceased, father remarried, grew up with her grandparents. At 18, she was admitted to Ningham City's top medical university, supported herself with scholarships and part-time jobs for education. Failed a mandatory course final and didn't graduate successfully, chose not to retake the exam and forfeited the diploma, left school immediately, now employed as a Funeral Director at Ningham City's crematorium... I've contacted two former dorm mates, they say Lucy Eaton was a study fanatic, didn't date, always focused on studying, rejected several pursuers, including a wealthy second-generation, later harassed by a mandatory course professor who gave her a zero, she withdrew from school and never contacted them again..."
After reading for several minutes, Nathaniel Green continued, "The man who left the hotel with Lucy Eaton is named James Foster, same age as her, high school educated, trained in hair styling for four years, currently working at a hair salon. They're childhood friends, according to surveillance footage, last night he stayed at the hotel with a young attractive girl, but shortly after checking in, the girl left the hotel..."
"Did the girl carry a bag?"
"Young master, how did you know?!"
Jacob Green naturally knew, "Obviously, that girl was a thief, took James Foster's clothes, wallet and phone. Observing Lucy Eaton's surveillance, she carried a bag from the moment she entered the hotel. I glimpsed inside the bag this morning, it contained men's clothes. Thinking carefully, when we left the hotel, I spotted them at the hotel entrance from the window, the man seemed to be wearing the clothes from her bag. Therefore, we can deduce, Lucy Eaton was delivering clothes to her friend, but was mistaken for Grace Hughes by hotel staff and sent to my room..."
Nathaniel Green was taken aback, "So she wasn't orchestrated by Grace Hughes at all?"
"No, but strangely, she's aware Grace Hughes did it, knows Grace Hughes's number and recognizes her, while Grace Hughes doesn't know her. That's interesting, you interrogate Grace Hughes, don't need to be courteous, do as needed and record the process. Report back to me when I'm back."
"Yes." Nathaniel Green placed the document on the desk and left.
Jacob Green saw an ID photo, reached for the sheet of information.
The woman in the photo had a classic oval face, double eyelids, slightly upturned eyes but not particularly alluring, with a small mole on her nose adding unique charm instead of detracting from her beauty.
He gazed at the photo, a smile gracing his lips, "Going along with the plan?"
Jacob Green set the document back on the desk, stood up, donned his suit jacket, and exited the office.
——
Lucy Eaton specially took leave, lying on the bed in the funeral hall employee dormitory to rest.
The bedside table held several boxes of food bought by James Foster, including small bread, sausages, cookies, and instant noodles.
The salon where James Foster worked was nearby, thus they met frequently.
Thanks to having a hairstylist friend, for years her hair treatments and haircuts incurred no cost, all taken care of by him.
She was indeed indebted to him.
"Knock, knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
No sound responded.
Lucy Eaton climbed out of bed and asked again, "Who on earth is it?"
"It's me."
