Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Haven't We Met Somewhere Before?

Just one word, and she knew who it was.

How did he find his way here?

Lucy Eaton opened the door, only to see Jacob Green, dressed in a suit and tie, standing at the door, looking entirely out of place with the surroundings.

"Mr. Green, what brings you here?"

"Naturally for some business. Aren't you going to invite me in?"

She stepped aside to make space, "Please, come in."

Jacob Green entered, noticing that the room was barely about ten square meters, and quite small.

"What exactly is your business?"

Jacob Green approached her, "I came looking for you, what business do you think it is?"

She smiled, somewhat dazzlingly, "It seems that last night didn't satisfy Mr. Green."

Lucy Eaton stepped forward, nearing him. At 174 cm, she had a model's height and stood in front of him, who was 188 cm tall, naturally wrapping her arms around his neck.

"It's just that this place is quite simple. If Mr. Green doesn't mind, I can serve you, as long as the money is right."

She expected him to despise and shake her off, but unexpectedly, he looked at her with a meaningful, half-smiling face and agreed, "Okay."

She sensed her face stiffening, as his hand encircled her slim waist, "Since I've found my way here, why would I mind?"

Lucy Eaton didn't know what he intended to do; from her understanding of him, he deeply loved Stellan Quinn, how could he be like this?

"I'm quite expensive."

"That doesn't matter, whatever the price, I can afford it." He pressed his forehead against hers, "As long as you're willing to sell."

Lucy Eaton's heart trembled. In their last lifetime, after being married so long, apart from the one night they had a child, he never touched her again. Now, being so close made her breath unsteady.

She wanted to escape, but Jacob Green's hand suddenly tightened, he hadn't intended for this, he truly hadn't.

This time, he primarily came to ask her a few questions.

Yet he hadn't expected to lose his composure.

Their eyes met. As she gazed into his deep, pool-like eyes, she felt disoriented.

"How much would it cost to keep someone like you for a month?"

A trace of bitterness surged in Lucy Eaton's heart. When she was his wife, he never spent a penny on her, but now he's willing to spend money?

"I'm sorry, dear lady has a proper occupation, can't leave it for long periods, no monthly package, just single bookings."

"Meeting every night won't interfere."

She originally had no intention of ever entangling with him again, yet he came looking for her.

He would inevitably make her constantly recall the painful, struggling days they once had, force her to face the enemy she loathed.

Just hoped he wouldn't regret it later.

"Five million, for one month." Her hand rested on his face, "Will that do?"

Jacob Green agreed, and at that moment of agreement, he felt bewitched.

"I'm not a mistress. If I find out that you have a substantial relationship with another woman, I have the right to automatically terminate this relationship with you and won't refund a single penny." She laid down the ugly truth first.

"Alright."

She smiled, cradling his face.

After he left, Lucy Eaton leaned against the bedhead, gazing at the check in her hand, her eyes slightly reddened.

To her, one time or a hundred times made no difference.

But he shouldn't have given her the capital.

Because having the capital meant she'd be willing to do whatever it took to seek revenge, to get justice for herself, tragically wronged and killed in the past life.

——

On the way back, Jacob Green still pondered what had happened.

How could his rationality be scattered by just one woman?

If last night was due to the effects of the drug, what was today's cause then?

He didn't know.

Returning to Blossom Haven Estate, Nathaniel Green came to report, "Young master, all admitted, she confessed what she did. Here's the recorded video, the interrogation parts are muted, only her answers are audible."

He took it, "Understood, since she's Stellan's best friend, let her go. But don't allow her to enter Blossom Haven without my permission in the future."

"Understood."

"Oh, and." Jacob Green added, "Lucy Eaton will be coming over every night from now on."

Nathaniel Green was surprised, "How come…"

"She doesn't know that I'm already aware she wasn't sent by Grace Hughes."

Nathaniel Green quickly grasped his intention, "But, young master, you weren't serious with Miss Stellan…"

"She won't be with me."

"Wasn't she supposed to tell you during dinner tonight?"

"You don't understand her." Jacob Green turned away, saying no more.

Returning to his room, Jacob Green sat on the bed, dragged over the computer desk, watched the nearly hour-long interrogation video from the USB drive, and just as he unplugged it, a call came.

It was from Stellan Quinn, and as soon as he answered, an angry trembling voice came across, "Jacob Green, you actually got your subordinate to beat Grace half-dead! How could you do that? All she did was take me to the hotel to find you, and that made you so furious?!!!"

"Apparently she didn't tell you the real story. The reason why I was at the hotel last night was that she used your phone to send me a message to go there and even drugged me. I have video evidence of her confession here."

"Just coerced confession." Stellan Quinn didn't believe him at all, "she's told me everything!"

"Coerced confession? I have not only her interrogation video but also her phone call recordings with hotel staff…"

Before he could finish, Stellan Quinn forcibly interrupted him, "Money truly buys everything, doesn't it? Jacob Green, you really disappoint me. I never thought you would do such a thing."

Jacob Green's throat moved, suppressing his inner rage, "Let's discuss this tonight when we meet."

"No need! You asked before if I would be your girlfriend, I'll tell you now, I'm not willing! You're nothing like your brother, he's so gentle, but you're so cruel, you can't even compare!"

Jacob Green was silent for a few seconds, "When you said in the car that you'd tell me after dinner tonight, I already knew your answer."

"Good, then I never want to see you again, don't ever seek me out!"

The call abruptly disconnected, and Jacob Green set the phone aside, his face fluctuating between dark and bright.

He casually tossed the USB drive into the trash bin, got out of bed, walked toward the floor-to-ceiling window, and yanked open the curtains, letting a large patch of sunlight pour into the room, enveloping him as if coated in a layer of golden light.

Jacob Green stood with hands behind his back, straight as a rod, standing there for a long time, like a statue.

...

In the evening, a light drizzle began to fall from the sky.

Lucy Eaton was brought over by Nathaniel Green driving. She initially planned to come the next night, but he forbade it, sending Nathaniel Green to fetch her.

She had specially dressed up.

Wearing a white chiffon three-quarter sleeve top, a black cinched waist skirt, and her face adorned with exquisite makeup.

Her long hair draped over her shoulders, and she carried a black umbrella step by step to the door of the living room.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Not recognizing me after just an afternoon?"

He admitted that her made-up face made him momentarily dazed, "Haven't we met somewhere before?"
