Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Mr. Ye Truly Is Generous

Soon, there was a reply from the other side, instructing the receptionist to lead Lucy Eaton upstairs.

"Ms. Eaton, please follow me."

Lucy nodded and followed her past the electronic scanner, directly into the elevator to the 36th floor.

Exiting the elevator, the receptionist pointed to the left, "That's it, you can go over yourself."

"Thank you, you've been helpful."

"You're welcome."

Lucy walked step by step towards the CEO's office. To be honest, lying to meet someone she had never met before made her feel somewhat uneasy.

But since she was already here, failure wouldn't matter much. At worst, she would just be kicked out.

Thus, Lucy walked forward with her head held high.

The secretary saw her and asked, "Are you Ms. Eaton?"

She nodded once.

The secretary stepped forward to open the door, "Mr. Sharp, Ms. Eaton is here."

"Let her in, you can leave."

"Yes."

Charles Sharp looked up and saw Lucy Eaton without her mask, somewhat startled, "Who... are you?"

Lucy smiled faintly, "Mr. Sharp, don't be alarmed. I pretended to be your secret girlfriend, Ivy Fern, to meet you. I mean no harm, just wish to propose a win-win deal. If you're interested, I'll continue; if not, I'll leave immediately and never bother you again."

Charles glanced her up and down, his expression calm, "What kind of deal?"

"I know about major events that will happen to the Sharp Corporation and you personally in the coming years. If I tell you these events in advance so you can prepare, and my predictions come true, you give me two million each time. If they don't, I won't dare disturb you again; I'll vanish, fair enough?"

Charles Sharp encountered such an opportunity for the first time.

He couldn't help but be a bit cautious.

"Your benefits must exceed two million for this to be worthwhile."

"Of course," she emphasized, "I won't sign a contract with you; payment depends on you. Even if the benefits don't exceed two million, not paying is fine."

"I'm interested in this, but before proceeding, tell me who you are and how you know Ivy."

"May I sit down to talk?" She smiled slightly.

"Be my guest."

Having gained some confidence, Lucy sat by the sofa, while Charles Sharp sat across from her.

"As I said, I know the fortune and major events of you and your company for the next few years. Not only do I know your secret girlfriend is Ivy Fern, but I also know she's in poor health, struck by a severe young illness, heart-related. You've strained yourself privately to treat her. As for me, I'm Lucy Eaton; I once studied at medical university but failed to graduate due to a professor's manipulation. I now work as a funeral director in our city's mortuary. Mr. Sharp can investigate my background. Why am I in your office? Mainly to make money, that's all."

Charles nodded. Naturally, he would investigate her background, "Since that's the case, tell me the upcoming major events for me or my company. If they prove true, I'll contact you."

He was more reasonable than expected, and Lucy said leisurely, "Within the next month, your subsidiary will launch a skincare product for pregnant women. Once launched, it will directly cause tragic incidents. Several expectant mothers will suffer severe allergic reactions, resulting in stillborn children. Coupled with the propaganda from your adversaries, the loss to the Sharps can be imagined. If you wish to avoid this, I think you know what to do."

Charles Sharp was somewhat shocked. The company was indeed preparing to develop a skincare product for expectant mothers, known only to top company management. How could she possibly know?

"Please leave your contact information, regardless of results, I will reach out to you."

"Then I await your news."

She gave her phone number and left without asking for his number.

Leaving Sharp Tower, it was still raining heavily outside.

Lucy took a car back to Blossom Haven Estate.

Seeing her enter, Nathaniel Green hurried forward with an umbrella, "Ms. Eaton, why did you come back alone? I was about to pick you up."

"Because it's raining heavily, I left work a bit early and took a taxi back. Is your master at home?"

"Yes, he's home."

She nodded, holding an umbrella, and walked towards the living room.

Placing the umbrella on the drip stand at the door, she stepped inside to see Jacob Green with his legs propped on the coffee table, engrossed in a book.

Lightly stepping, she walked behind him, her gaze falling on the book's content, surprised it was in foreign languages.

Common languages abroad posed no challenge, but his book wasn't in them, so she couldn't understand a single word.

Lucy wrapped her arms around him from behind, softly asking, "Which country's book is this?"

Jacob turned slightly and glanced at her, closing the book, "Country F."

She tried to pull away, but unexpectedly, he grabbed her shoulders, flipping her onto the sofa, her head landing on his lap.

Lucy looked up into his dark eyes.

"It rained heavily today. Thanks to your reminder, I brought an umbrella and avoided getting wet, deserving your reward."

"Are you going to reward me with money?"

Jacob was somewhat amused, "Is money all you ever think about?"

"I want money, you reward me money, okay?"

"Then I'll reward you with a hundred thousand."

She held his face and kissed him fiercely, "Mr. Green is indeed generous."

"I really want to know, how did you know it would rain heavily this afternoon?"

"I'm not telling you." She laughed, "I'm going upstairs to take a shower."

Jacob watched her figure intently, lost in thought.

——

"Listen to Mom, apologize to Jacob with a call," Autumn Fletcher patiently advised, "Men need coaxing; your impulsive rejection of him must've angered him."

"I won't call," Stellan Quinn said, eating with head down, "How could it be justified that he beat Grace so badly? A friend saw him stay in a hotel and told her. She's aware of Jacob's confession to me and warned me to avoid a scumbag. Though it was a misunderstanding, how could he have been so ruthless so quickly? Grace is my best friend; he claims to like me, but what comes from it? He even criminally interrogated her! I've truly had enough."

"Then tell me, Mom, among the wealthy young men we know, who can match Jacob Green?" Autumn Fletcher's face tensed slightly, "Can't you see? Jacob is the future head of Green Group. He likes you now, if you don't seize the opportunity, when will you? Don't think he won't marry without you; countless women want to marry him!"
