As I write this, my father is still alive. He has no visible, physical health issues and seems to have a long life ahead of him. My father is an interesting man. He doesn't show love the traditional way; he rarely says I love you point blank. He finds it difficult to be affectionate and when he is affectionate, he appears to be violent when in reality he loves you and wants the best for you. A prime example being my grandfather. My father is always cross with him- whenever my grandfather seems careless about his health- and to the naked eye, my father seems cruel. Shouting at an old man! How dare he! I used to think. But now, I realize that my father just loves him and wants the absolute best for him. And this is the case for me, my sisters, my brother and my mother. My father doesn't show love like other fathers. He acts on love. If he can't say the words, then he does the words. He proves his love for his family in numerous ways.
My father is also a very proudful man. His ego is almost as big if not bigger than my own and I am the perfect example of his ego. You see, I've finished the bible twice before I was even 14 and everywhere we go he boasts about this. I don't vape, smoke, drink, do drugs, sneak out, have sex, or disobey my father in ways that the other boys my age do and my father loves to boast about this. I won't go into much detail as it'll compromise the other chapters.
Now, onto the book. My father has taught me a lot of life lessons; ranging from how to treat your wife to how to live after he's dead. Out of these tens- if not hundreds- of teachings, I chose five. Specifically the five that he'd repeat everytime he'd cut my hair, or everytime we'd go on a drive.
Always be yourself
Never trust anyone
Include God in everything
Never allow disrespect
Always put your family first
These five teachings have stuck with me and I find them extremely worthy of sharing them with the world and with my children. It is fair to say, my father has shaped me into the man I am today and he will be the reason as to why my children will be supreme in every domain.
