Tick. Tick.
The wall clock in the office marked each passing second. Serein's gaze clung to the long hand, her heart thumping with a mix of nerves and anticipation, as if it were hanging upside down from a fragile branch, swaying with every tick.
One final sweep of the hand, and the short one jumped to five. The end of the workday.
Serein shot up from her chair. Her bag had been packed twenty minutes ago; all she had to do now was sling it over her shoulder and bolt out of the office like a gust of summer wind.
Saturday. Another weekend, another cycle.
But this weekend was unlike any other. Tonight, Lumina's concert would begin.
She dashed into the company restroom and changed out of her business attire into something looser. A tight pencil skirt and high heels would only get in the way of enjoying a concert to the fullest.
The show started at seven. There was no time to squeeze herself into a crowded subway. Just this once, she would allow herself to overspend.
