Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

September 13, 2005

Cain Franklin, a cultist and mastermind behind the Dark Sons project, was a man whose name stained every page of the justice system. He was charged with a long list of unforgivable crimes: murder, sexual assault, rape, false imprisonment, criminal gang activity, and large-scale drug trafficking. His sentence was heavy: a lifetime behind bars, a fine of $45,670, and the death penalty. Yet somehow, Cain slipped through the jaws of execution. Legal maneuvering, confusion, or something more sinister allowed him to escape the final judgment that so many believed he deserved.

During interrogation, Cain sat silent for hours before claiming that he had never acted of his own free will. According to him, his thoughts and actions were being manipulated by an ancient Eldritch god, a presence that used his body as a vessel. The statement shattered any hope of public sympathy. He was quickly dismissed as insane, another lunatic trying to dodge responsibility through madness. But in the darker corners of the world, among those who whisper of beings beyond comprehension, some believed his words carried truth. And if they did, Cain was not the source of the horror.

Day during the interrogation, they managed to record this conversation, including information about Cain's belief in an evil God [Record 18-9/16/2005];

Detective: "So, why did you do it, Cain? Why did you kill those women?"

Cain: "Someone made me do it."

Detective: "I am going to need a real name for this someone."

Cain: "You can't speak of his name, or you will be corrupted as well."

Detective: "You can cut the bullshit. Evil Gods? Mind control? You don't think we are stupid, do you?"

Cain: "We are all foolish, but he is the only wise one. I didn't have a choice but to listen to him."

Detective: "In the file here, I heard to name Ryoth mentioned. The last breath of one of those females you killed Said, "Don't let Ryoth come here!" She was screaming the phrase multiple times and died of a heart attack. This was Tarila Enix, you did this too."

Cain: "I did nothing in part of her death. He corrupted her mind by repeatedly calling his name out loud. This is why we don't do this."

Detective: "...how did you avoid the death penalty? You were so unlucky during the trial, and you still won to keep your life. How did you do it?"

Cain: "He did it. he told me that I would not die until he no longer needed me, so he changed people's minds and made them cancel my death sentence. He told me that in the future, I will serve him one last task."

Detective: "No, I want to know who told you. Who helped you? Ryoth isn't real. You made it up, and it is all in your head. Enough lies!"

Cain: "Stop saying his name or he will kill you! You will die next!"

After this was put into the records, months after, the detective who spoke to Cain Franklin died in his sleep on a Friday night. Later investigations found strange sigils carved on the walls with the reading of an unknown language. Some readings were translated from some Greek and Egyptian origins. Only two sentences were translated to "Forbidden knowledge comes with a price," and the other was only read back as "Free me-Let me borrow deep inside the Earth-I [Redacted] will make the world burn with [Redacted] and all will suffer long before death-don't say my name without reason." The only observable marking was identified as a skull with horns and a mask, giant serpents guarding a there own bound by chains.

Soon after they went back and showed Cain what they were allowed to do, he started to go crazy and attack the people, leading to his restraint. It was only around 12 years later that other killings started to happen between the subjects of the Dark Sons project: Tyromus Leon, Enix Callith, and Marty Callum.

Present Day

I watched them move Calllith into this damn lab. It makes it seem like we were being gathered for something they wanted to know; our intentions were just a theory they took too seriously, but I had no plans to hurt anyone.

The glass door opened, and they came in to take me somewhere. What could I do anymore? I was a wolf in a pit: helpless and trapped. I will take any perfect opportunity to get out of here and free Callith. We might be fugitives even if true justice took us back in...I will pay for my actions like a man, and so will everyone else. They can walk me to the unknown, but I am no fool.

If I had to guess where they were taking us, it was to die. Callith and I were thrown into a divided room, given a view from an observation room. I sat back against the wall on the other side of Callith. He spoke in depressed words to me, revealing some anger.

"What did you tell them about me, Leon? I was in the same place for a while until you came and I told you about my past," Said Callith.

I was confused by his feelings. I wouldn't get someone else into trouble, no matter the reason.

"You had the audacity to tell me we are brothers after putting me in this place. I was fine before I got here. They beat the shit out of me after they took me into a van...then drove me into a lab where they test on people. Did you see what was going on out there? It was horrible." Said Callith.

"I didn't tell them anything about anyone else but me. None of this is my fault. If you were smart, you would know they are here to gather us three." I said.

"I am no dumbass, Leon. They explained more to me about our past when we were born. And if you know better, we are only half brothers. Nothing more. You need to stay out of my way, I am finding a way out of here and doing my job." Said Callith.

"Job? None of us has a job, we aren't even treated as humans any more than a goddamn animal!" I said.

"Well, maybe you don't have a purpose...But I do. Ryoth told me to break out and finish his job as he spoke to me through my dreams. It goes for Callum as well...the third son of darkness who will be more than you." Said Callith.

"Ryoth? That myth you won't drop? I find it stupid that you would listen to a dream instead of an actual person!" I said.

"Both of you, quiet down! I decided that all of you will die right here. That is why you are all here together." Said Dr. Lammy.

She turned around at the doors as a man was tied to a two-wheeler that rolled in. He was heavily restrained with a muzzle covering his mouth. Their eye was lit with fire behind them. Rage was high in Callum.

"It was very hard to get him onto that thing, had to taser him a few times. You are all going out screaming in pain as you made your victims." Said Dr. Lammy.

"I would have cut their tongues out first and shoved cotton in their mouth so they couldn't." Said Callith.

"You are no better than your brothers are Callum. That was psycho talk right there: that, we deal with accordingly." She said while moving out of the room. "It was nice talking to you all, I wish you all had gotten a chance to be tested on before you went out. Kill them!"

Armed men move in, open our door, and tie us all down. Each of our heads had guns with barrels pressed against them. I close my eyes and get ready to die. They all were about to pull the triggers. The second passed, but it was silent...did I die? Was my death so quick that I hadn't even felt it? No, it was dark. The power had gone out, and the men were still. They fell off with no movement, mimicking death or paralysis.

"My boys, you are so strong together. Break free from this prison and get me out. I bless you with some of my power." Said the voice in the air. We all heard it.

Callum and Callith ripped free from the ropes while metal pushed from underneath their skin. Both had armor and stood over the bodies on the floor. Callith looks at his hands and fears his transformation.

"What the hell happened to him? What is this?" Said Callith. he felt the weapon on his back. It was a long, grey sword that matched his armor.

Callum ripped the muzzle of his mouth. His armor was crimson red with carved markings all over, with a scythe. When his face gets out, he smiles like the most sadistic person I ever seem.

"Family? Brothers? More prey for me. When I cut you both...your heads will be my trophy." Said Callith.

"Hey, don't start. You and I have to be on the same page here. Let's not make Ryoth upset, okay?" Said Callith.

"You both are monsters. I will not follow through with this wretched plan." I said as I struggled to get up.

Callum walked over and put his heavy foot on my chest. I couldn't get up or fight off the weight pinning me down. He raised to blade over my body.

"This is why you don't deserve my blessing. My power will not be shared with a traitor. You are no longer a son of mine. I will strip away all I gave to make you born." Said Ryoth as he spoke to my mind.

"Wait, Callum...don't kill him. He is pathetic. We will burn this place down and leave him here." Said Callith.

"Fine... whatever you say." Said Callum. He kicked me in the face before they both left. I light up, along with large red streaks. I saw a flash of my life. My birth, being submerged in blood, and power went inside me after I was taken out of the arm of a woman. My mother had cried when I left, and she died. I cried for hours that day when they put me in the ward. My brothers were separated from me. I felt all lost.
