Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

I feel weak, as if my body were draining all the energy I had and was using it to heal. I opened my eyes, got up off the ground...it was bright here; it was devoid of darkness from every direction. This felt like heaven, except there were no angels or God in sight.

All of a sudden, I hear a calm voice like before. It was the bright light. They spoke to me. "Leon, wake up! I sense a much more powerful presence coming from you, much more than I have!" Said God.

I look up at the orb of light. I kneel. "But how can I stop this if I am dead? I am...nothing now." I said.

It slowly lowered to my level, then began to dim slightly. "You aren't one of my creations...you don't kneel to me. You exist because you have to! You need help? I will guide you to your power, Leon. But promise me, you will not let go of yourself." Said God.

I thought to myself about power. What was so special about me? I was just a man? No, I was more than a man, because I was pure of heart, I have scars that show years of pain, which only some can understand what lies behind my eyes.

I stand with my chin up. "Behind my pain, I don't even know what can hurt me anymore, so I will spend my time preventing harm from happening to others. This is what I want!" I said.

My life flashes back to the day I was born, then beyond the expansion of the universe. Beyond that was much more than I anticipated. Then I saw myself over all of it, everything was in my grasp, protected from harm, until I came to be. Now I know that I was alive before it all, I am only a paradox, created by myself. That part of me came back to mind, and I gained previous knowledge about the Omniverse. I was an Eldritch Guardian who spent my time putting others before myself. Was this the future, the present, or the past?

Dark energy entered from elsewhere, trailing into my body, healing the vessel I had. I will protect Leon, and in return, he will protect the Omniverse.

I was healing, my left eye was gone as a symbol of my bravery, and every scar would stay with me before I healed...I will keep those as a reminder of my past.

A door opened up, it was a portal in a way. But before I walk out, I look back at the light. "Thank you, Yahweh!" I said.

I opened my eyes, still impaled. I lift myself off, and I get up. I pulled the spear out of my left eye, but in its place was a smooth scar that became a reminder of this day. Over my body formed a dark, thick set of armor. Behind me were two axes, one on my back. They were a different shape from one another...but the same design style. I noticed a sigil on both. It was a triangle with a circle outside of each point. I felt stronger.

There were vans and cars parked in the distance, and a helicopter in the sky shining lights down below, surrounding the perimeter.

I make my way back inside the Church. Callum was on the other side, where the altar was, holding Callith over it, getting ready to kill him. Callith was being overpowered by the strength of Callum.

Callum turned to look over at me, he stared for a bit, shocked to see me back up. He holds Callith tighter, not letting go. "I saw you die! How are you here?" Said Callum.

I take steps closer, raising one of the axes. "Let Callith go! You have decided your end, and now I'm gonna give it to ya!" I said.

He held Callith closer, piercing another spear against this throat. "Don't move another step, or I'll kill him! I will split his carotid arteries. It's lethal, even for him!" Said Callith.

I don't want to risk hurting, so I step back slightly enough for Callum to lose his grip on Callith. He stared into my eyes, scared and confused. "Callum, listen. You don't need to do this. We need to destroy Ryoth! I will help you so you won't have to hurt anyone ever again. I promise!" I said.

Callum hesitates for a moment, but removes the blade over Callith's throat. "If I disobey him, he will kill me! You will die too. I don't even know if he is going to give me power; I just don't want him to kill me. I am sorry, Leon." Said Callith.

I carefully walk over and smile. I put a hand on his shoulder. "Callum! Listen, it's not about the past...it's about how you can manage it, you are stronger than him, and we, we are not his children, he doesn't stand a chance against us, if we work together. With your help, me?" I said.

Callum puts out a hand, hugs me, wipes his tears, and nods. "I never wanted to you guys, let's show this bastard how the story goes!" Said Callum.

Callith gets up, too, and hugs me, too. He smiles and puts his fist over his chest. "We are brothers, and we will work together as a team!"

I get pulled slightly to the altar, and half of my life force leaves, in the form of energy. It flows to the altar and breaks it. The ground below us shakes, and laughter fills the air. "You all are ungrateful! I gave you a chance to become a sacrifice in my honor, and you declined. I strip away the power I gave to three of you and use it to finish opening the gateway. I will find blizz in tearing the core out of the ground!" Said Ryoth.

Below us is a spinning black hole-like vortex appears. We quickly move away from it. A tall humanoid figure emerges from it. Ryoth the Shadow Lord crawls from below and turns into a dragon-like serpent with wings and two arms. He flies above, circling us. Callum was in shack, fear got to him first, but Callith stood strong, ready to fight.

Callum drops to his knees, looks down at the ground, and his voice becomes quiet and filled with sorrow. "What have I just done! I killed innocent people, and for this, I killed my family. This is my fault!" Said Callum.

Callith kneels beside him, resting putting hand on his shoulder. "We did a part in this, but we can change for the better, let's work together and show that lizard who we are." Said Callith.

I nod in agreement, and we all stand side by side, ready to fight. Ryoth comes down with fast speeds. Callum runs further away, stabbing at the sides of Ryoth. Callith cuts around the body, hitting a vital spot, causing it to bleed heavily. Ryoth roars in pain, as he claws and them. I walk around him slowly, looking for the perfect spot to kill him. I spot the middle of the forehead. "Bingo!"

Callum gets thrown a few feet but Ryoth. He drops his spear, unsure of what to do. He turned to me, wanting ideas. "It's invincible, we can't kill it, do you know any way we can finish it off for good!?" Said Callith.

I notice that around his neck was a soft, lighter texture of veiny tissue. Maybe if I cut the head off, it with be enough to stop Ryoth from healing. "I think I know a way, Callum, but someone might have to do it from the inside. One of us will have to go inside his mouth and cut his head off from the inside." I said.

Callum and Callith nod, we all know that it was risky for them. But it may as well be the only way. I was going to be the one to do it.
