Chapter 8 - Radiance

"How long had I been asleep? When was the last time I felt so comfortable, It's almost like my room. The gentle clattering of my neighbours, the soft noise of cars driving past and the gentle buzzing of my phone. How long had it been like this.. this feeling that I'm laying upon a bed of flowers, gently tucking me into a peaceful slumber?" Galadriel slowly opened her eyes, blinking a few times as she sat up. It was her room, the familiar one she had always lived before she had to leave her home planet. Everything neatly organized. Galadriel slowly slid out of her bed and took towards the kitchen. She had been living in a relatively decently sized apartment. It brought so many memories back. Yet it felt like something was nagging at the back of her mind, like she had forgotten something important, someone.

She shook her head and quietly headed to the kitchen. Setting the water to boil as she headed to clean herself in the bathroom. Facing the mirror was herself, or rather the person she had used to be at least, not a single scar. Quietly she washed her face and began cleaning herself up a bit. Heading back to the kitchen she made herself a cup of coffee. Slowly sipping on the bitter drink, she walked around her apartment, stopping at a window overlooking the streets. "This feel sort of off-"

Bzzt bzztbzzt that was the sound of her doorbell. She wasn't expecting anyone this early in the morning. With soft taps against the hard wooden floor she made her way to the front door. Placing her hand on the door handle, she pushed the door open.

Suddenly her breath hitched and she felt a sharp pain run through her head. "Mira?" Galadriel asked as she gazed at the person in front of her. It was Mira, tattered up, yet the way she looked, her expression, the air around her. It wasn't at all like Mira. And what are those large wooden tentacles attacking her. "Mira!!-" She called out in a sudden rush of panic, reaching her hand out as she tried to catch the girl in front of her.

But suddenly she was plunged into darkness. "It's so cold.." She murmured out or so she thought. But her voice never reached anything, she didn't even hear it herself. "Mira.." She felt her mind slowly lose it grasp on what is real. "It's just like.."

Galadriel found herself sitting on a field with grass which seemed almost perfectly green, the gentle breeze hitting her ever so often. The sun gently gracing Galadriel with its existence, warming her up down to her very essence. It all looked endless. She wasn't sure whether to be afraid, cause she couldn't help but feel so at peace. Quietly laying on her back, she gazed at the blue sky, clear and captivating. Slowly she lifted her hand up towards the sky, blocking the sun as thoughts kept running through her mind. "It's like.. The day when I first.. Aghh!!" She placed her hands over her eyes in frustration, her fingers tangling with her pale blonde locks. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't remember. That guiding voice, so gentle as the sun itself.

Without much thought Galadriel sprung to her feet, searching across the endless field for a path forward. As if an answer to her inner thoughts, a path of golden flowers came to life, their colour mirroring the one of Galadriel's own eyes. She quietly followed the path of flowers, making sure to avoid stepping on them. It was silent, only broken by the occasional gust of wind. She wasn't sure where she was headed, the path of flowers seemed to stretch just as far as the field itself. Yet no matter how long she walked, even it felt like hours had passed, she didn't feel tired at all. Eventually something came into sight, something relatively big surrounded by trees and bushes.

Once Galadriel got close enough, she felt her own eyes widen. It wasn't out of fear, but rather a sense of shock mixed with longing. It was a statue, neatly and precisely carved from stone of a woman. Dressed in a long dress which stretched to her ankles. Wings on her back, seemingly having a feather like look to them. The face gorgeous, almost like a goddess. Goddess, that's right.. Slowly Galadriel got down onto one knee and then the other. She was kneeling before the statue, her hands coming up to her face as she clasped them together. She wasn't religious but something told her, no, she knew that this is what she had to do. How could she not, when this statue, the being depicted in it, is what saved her. Gave her the life she has and granted her the capability to live. She closed her eyes, feeling a sense of warmth spread through her body, from her heart through her every single cell.

"Wake up, child of radiance, it is time you show your own efforts.. May you come here once more and tell me the tales of what you had done. My eternal blessing lies within your very core. Don't forget, Galadriel."

Suddenly it felt as if something grasped her body and began pulling. Her eyes wide open as she finds herself gasping for air, looking around the aftermath of what had happened. She looked around searching for something, it didn't take long as she saw Mira laying beside her. With a small panic she sat up and placed her hands on Mira's shoulders, shaking her. "Mira, wake up! Mira..!"

Galadriel could still feel the memory fresh in her mind as they walked side by side. Reaching the entrance of the town, she headed in with Mira, keeping her up to the best of her efforts. Stares were sent their way by the people on the streets, murmurs one after another. Yet Galadriel didn't care. Reaching that familiar building, with the pillars, she rushed inside with Mira. "Euthykritos! Where are you?!" She called out into the building. She could feel the piercing gaze of the stationed guards, a small shiver running through her body. Yet Galadriel's eyes shot to the source of a new sound, the soft footsteps of shoes against the marble flooring. "Oh? It's you two.. How did it go? Did you clear the mine out? In fact, why don't we talk this over once we get you two patched up?" With that Euthykritos gestured for them to follow.
